2022 FORD MAVERICK HYBRID Complaints

There has been a active Recall (Campaign/NHTSA# 23S27/23V380) on my Ford Maverick Since 26 of May 2023 that has not been able to be repaired. Ford has continued to pushback the anticipated remedy timeframe since October 2023. This is the Second recall for the same issue, as the first recall did not repair the issue but put a Band-Aid on it. Ford is beyond a reasonable amount of time to repair this recall since first issuing it.

In May 2023, a recall was placed against my vehicle without a remedy. The recall is about premature engine failure and the possibility of engine combustion. The remedy was supposed to be ready by October 2023, but is not yet available. I have never gotten an update since the initial recall information. The recall says that loud engine clanking sounds are possible engine failure sounds. I hear those sounds often when shifting from gas to electric modes. I have been driving still knowing this for 6 months and am worried for my safety due to this recall and the lack of timely remedy.

My backup camera failed, the frame froze. As I was backing into a parking spot I hit a wall when the screen in the vehicle showed that I was still 5 or 6 feet away. As I reversed direction and pulled away a few feet to check the damage I noticed that the screen had not changed; it still showed that I was 5 or 6 feet away. When I restarted that vehicle the camera returned to normal functioning.

While driving up a hill, the vehicle lost motive power and was shaking vigorously. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to park the vehicle. The vehicle failed to start the next day. The contact jump-started the vehicle. The “Stop Safely Now” message was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who was unable to determine why the vehicle failed to start but informed the contact the CV axle needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, the vehicle started shaking uncontrollably. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty passenger’s side half-shaft axle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

My 2022 Ford Hybrid Maverick Truck has been experiencing what is referred to as Grabby Brakes by the Maverick Truck Club (MTC) Maverick owners. At low speeds, 2-5 MPH, the brakes suddenly activate and slams the truck to a stop and passengers are thrown forward. There was and article from [XXX] that reported that there is a Technical Service Bulletin [XXXX] from Ford Motor Company that addresses the issue. I cannot validate this information. I did take the truck (2 times) down to the local dealership and was met with anything other than my concern. After mentioning the TSB [XXX] I was told that the TSB was no longer valid and the short answer was there was nothing currently on the issue and was not looking into it citing , "there was nothing from Ford". This has been a recall issue since I initially bought the vehicle brand new. I am active duty military and need this truck shipped to my next duty station and the shipping partner stated it won't ship cars that need recalls. Currently there is no planned action for this recall yet and it's estimated time for repairs states October 2023. It is now coming into the middle of November 2023 and no fix as of yet. Safety Risk ENGINE OIL AND/OR FUEL VAPOR THAT ACCUMULATES NEAR A COMBUSTIBLE SOURCE MAY IGNITE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE.
