2019 GMC SIERRA 1500 Complaints

While driving My 2019 GMC Sierra I heard a loud Bang And lots of Misfires. The vehicle immediately slowed on its own causing me to pull off the road and endanger myself and traffic around me. Engine light came on and the traction control light was flashing. The Vehicle was brought to Dealer where they Diagnosed the problem all lifter rods were frozen and the cam shaft was cracked. The Dealer has the affected parts.The vehicle was in the repair shop for over two weeks and close to 7,000.00 in repairs.

WHILE TURNING INTO A BUISNESS FROM A HIGHWAY, THE LOW FUEL WARNING CAME ON EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK. UPON LEAVING THE BUISNESS, I STARTED THE TRUCK AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND THE ENGING STALLED. RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AGAIN AND IT STALLED AGAIN. RESTARTED AND TRIED GOING FORWARD AND IT RAN FINE. ABOUT 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE LOW FUEL WARNING CAME ON AGAIN AND THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. AT THIS POINT I REALIZED THAT THE DOORS HAD UNLOCKED AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES KEPT SWEEPING UP AND DOWN. I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. IT ACTED LIKE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. AFTER WATING SEVERAL SECONDS, I TRIED AGAIN AND THE ENGINE RESTARTED. I NOTED THE BATTERY VOLTAGE IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND IT WAS NORMAL. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. NO DTCS PRESENT WHEN CHECKED WITH A GENERIC SCAN TOOL. MY SAFETY WAS PUT AT RISK BECAUSE THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET AS THEY ARE NOT OPEN TODAY AND I WANTED TO REPORT THIS WHILE ALL THE DETAILS WERE FRESH ON MY MIND.

I do not know if this qualifies as a safety concern, however based on everything I have read, I wanted to report the incident since you have 39 cases already. My 2019 GMC Sierra Denali w 6.2l engine, and 60,000 miles, starting tapping on April 10, 2025. I brought it to the local dealership the following day to diagnose. The dealer reported that they located metal in the oil pan/ filter and said the engine needed to be replaced. After more reading, it seems my truck is one of the vehicles with the 6.2l engine that is failing in countless numbers. In all fairness, I did not crash, the engine did not seize and it did not create a safety hazard in my incident, so i apologize if this reporting is a waste of your time. Now i have been given an invoice for over $10k to replace the engine which is on backorder nationwide I'm told due to the number of engine failures. Obviously it is out of 5 year 60K mile warranty so I have to eat the engine replacement.

The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the driver's side tail pipe flange bolts connecting the tail pipe and the muffler snapped, causing the tail pipe to hang down. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact had gone underneath the vehicle and saw that the muffler was disconnected from the tail pipe and that the exhaust bolts had snapped. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle repaired; however, the vehicle was not yet repaired. I had engine failure two weeks after a schedule maintenance that included a tune up. When the engine failed all the components made the vehicle impossible to operate much less bring to a stop safely. I had to get the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer confirmed that the engine (6.2 V8) has a known documented issue. The vehicle is at my dealer with the engine being disassembled. There weren't any warnings as I stayed on the maintenance schedule that the dealer mapped out since my purchase. The problem began [XXX]. After researching the issue I found this online. Engine oil coolant lines leaking at crimped fittings. Known problem on 2019 GMC Sierra Pickups 1500, under customer satisfaction program N212326940, known to affect in areas of very cold temperature weather, North Dakota where we live is extremely cold -45 deg F in winter. Risk of total oil loss and engine failure. Dealer replaced lines with no reduction in price for a known failure. Warning leaking oil on my driveway, filled engine, scheduled appointment and dealership replaced lines at full cost. This program to replace the lines at no charge should apply to all 2019 GMC 1500s that develop the leaks.

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer again, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

I bought this vehicle at 80k miles and I have had an on going issue with the transmission. I have done research online and found that GM had put the wrong fluid in the transmission from the factory that has caused internal issues with the transmission leading to hard shifting and transmission shuttering. On my dime I have changed the fluid twice already and also the torque converter as well. This issue has gotten better but still a problem. This has caused me to not be able to trade my truck with out being upside down because of the dealers telling me they would have to put a new transmission to sell it. So now my trucks value has dropped as well. Now I am stuck in a truck that is not safe to drive. Thanks GM for not helping me.

Transmission keeps skipping missing gears and hard shifting, as well as jolting forward. When attempting to switch lanes vehicle transmission skips. When being placed from Park to drive or any other gear vehicle transmission hard shifts. Vehicle radio and screen shut off intermittently every 30 to 45 minutes. Vehicle screen goes blank and black and resets itself after 30 to 45 minutes.

Transmission has been failing for the life of this vehicle. Shuttered shifting and hard shifting are the norm. It is available for inspection. Vehicle does not shift properly when vehicle is in motion. Shifting is often delayed resulting in temporary loss of power. I have had the vehicle in to a transmission shop they have been able to reproduce the events. There are no warning lights visible to indicate an issue.
