2013 HONDA ACCORD Complaints

Steering has becoming increasingly heavy, feels “spongy” , and is pulling to the side when making turns… I am extremely concerned that there is a failure with my vehicle’s power steering that may cause me to lose control or cause an accident.

When going over small bumps strong pulls to one side dramatically, causing car to jerk out of lane

The ABS Module has failed on this car. Upon a lot of research, I have found that a lot of people are stating they have had this same issue with their honda accords within a few years before and after. This is a $1700 fix from Honda that most people are not going to be able to afford and a lot of people are having problems with..... the part is also on a nationwide backorder which to me seems like they have surely had to replace a lot of them..... I believe that this should be investigated for a recall. I spoke with someone at Honda and they also agreed that this should be looked at for a recall. This could be very dangerous to have failing ABS systems on vehicles. Research on forums where people discuss this will show that this is a common problem and a recall should be considered.

The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to start the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently at first; however, the failure was occurring more often. The contact stated that the failure was related to Manufacturer Communication Number: A16-002 (Electrical System). The contact had not taken the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, he became aware that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and waited for a few minutes before restarting the vehicle. The warning lights disappeared, and the contact continued driving to his residence however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) modulator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the parts being on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Vehicle suddenly turned left on its own, also partial lost of power steering. Even with vehicle parked, it turned totally to the left. There were no dash warning lights indicating a problem I took it to Dean Honda and it was still doing this when I arrived there. The technician said he could not duplicate the problem, and that no code came up. They stated Honda would not pay for the repair unless error code came up. They expected me to simply take the car and I stated that I would not as it was unsafe to drive. They agreed to keep it and try to duplicate the problem which after about a week they did, but still no code appeared. I contacted Honda headquarters who eventually agreed to replace the steering box "as a courtesy" but if it happened again , they would not pay for the repair. While I am happy that they repaired it, I feel that these vehicles should be recalled and Honda is using the "no code" as an excuse to refuse paying for these repairs and this is an ongoing, dangerous defect. This Accord has only 24,000 miles and is in excellent condition and I am the original owner.

The ABS module went out. The vehicle has 80k original miles and less than 10yrs old. I had to spend over $1200 to get it fixed. This a safety issue and definitely needs to have a recall.

Car began jerking to the right while driving. It feels like the power steering is out in 50% of the car.

I placed my car in revers and it began to spin uncontrollably to the left. I was able to, with difficulty, pull it back but it continued to spin once I backed up. Next day when I turned right, the steering wheel suddenly pulled me to the right. It is hard to steer and I was told it is steering Rack failure. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. It is putting my safety and others at risk as I do not know when it will pull to the side. Honda of Concord was able to reproduce the problem and co formed the issue. It was only taken to the dealer which is Honda of Concord. No accident has happened yet. There was no warning. It just happened the evening of 10/7/2021 and again 10/8/2021. On the way to Honda dealership, it pulled when I turned on the way.

Recently purchased car from used car dealer with 84,000 miles. Driven 1 month. 19 yr son was driving straight on 45mph road and power steering turned completely off. He is a newer driver and luckily managed the heavy steering. This could have been deadly if it happened around a turn. Car was turned off at home for 2 hrs and system reset upon start up. Not sure what to do?
