2018 HONDA ACCORD Complaints

While driving, a warning message appeared on the dashboard stating: “Supplemental Restraint System Problem. See Your Dealer.” The airbag warning light also illuminated. This indicates a malfunction within the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which controls airbag deployment and seatbelt pretensioners. At this time, it is UNKNOWN what specific component of the SRS failed or malfunctioned. and this issue first appeared 2 moths after purchase but its been coming on and half i don't know how serious this is. This malfunction places my safety and the safety of passengers at risk because the airbags or other restraint features may not function properly in the event of a collision. The problem has not yet been confirmed or repaired by a dealer, and no inspection by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives has been completed as of this report. The warning lamps and message appeared suddenly while driving, with no prior symptoms, noises, or performance issues. Vehicle remains available for inspection if requested.

Car went into Limp mode, immediately brought to a Honda dealership. Planet Honda in NJ. Misfire in cylinder 3. Causation of misfire was a defect head gasket allowing coolant to flow into cylinder 3 causing a vehicle shut down and $3625 in repair costs. Warranty covered it but I have heard many other cases with this have not.

Paint at the center top of the vehicles roof is slowly starting to fade and chip away. I've always hand washed my car since I bought the vehicle in 2019. Noticed the paint at the top of the roof has been the only area where this is happening.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable time frame for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

While accelerating uphill approximately 65 mph the car suddenly started to shutter and slow down to 35 mph. I forced me to move rapidly over to the right lane on a busy highway almost getting hit by a semi truck. Luckily I was able move to the shoulder and park the vehicle. I shut the vehicle off and tried to start it back up which it did but struggled to turn over. Using my OBDII scanner I found that multiple codes had appeared which included P0087 Fuel Rail/System Pressure to low and P0299 Turbocharger Underboost. Vehicle was towed to my residence where it currently sits until I am able to repair it. Prior to this happening there were No warning lamps or messages or symptoms. The failures first appeared while driving up hill. It was not inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance. The problem was not taken to dealer or independent service center to confirm since the car is out of warranty and cost to diagnose is ridiculously high. I myself diagnosed the failures and found that the mechanical fuel pump Part# 16790-5PC-H02 seized up and was not providing enough fuel to engine. And diagnosed that the waste gate actuator arm was to loose due to worn out bushings. (Poor engineering in my opinion since there is no way to replace just the bushings on the actuator causing customers to replace the entire turbo.) After replacing the mechanical fuel pump the vehicle was able to start up without issue and drives perfectly fine. I currently still have the fuel pump and the turbo is still in the vehicle if needed for inspection.

At approximately [XXX]. Pacific, I was traveling southbound in the fastrak lane of the [XXX] departing from Pleasant Hill, California headed to Pleasanton, California. As I began to accelerate, the engine began to sputter. Immediately, the check engine light flashed on, then the dashboard reported a number of issues ranging from brake failure, TPMS failure, power assisted steering failure, vehicle stability assist failure and a number of other issues that I have never encountered since purchasing the vehicle. The sudden deceleration almost resulted in other cars impacting my car as this occurred during the morning commute. I was able to safely navigate off of the freeway. I was on speakerphone with Honda when this occurred. Had I not acted swiftly, a potential high speed rear end collision was likely to have occurred. I immediately took the car to Concord Honda. The team at Concord Honda performed a diagnosis and advised me that my head gasket was leaking water into the combustion chamber which resulted in the sudden loss of power. I was and continue to be dissatisfied with the handling of this issue by Honda as my car has never been handled by another mechanic. My car has a perfect or near perfect maintenance record and should not have a blown head gasket at 80k miles especially since my car is meticulously maintained and serviced by Concord Honda. Failed head gasket. Resulting in complete engine replacement including turbo. Causing my car to go sluggish while driving Dealership inspected and confirmed engine and turbo replacement needed All the lights on the dashboard came on at time of incident

If car is idling for over 1 minute, all lights on dash come on. When all lights on, car wont wont go over mph, car will randomly sputter in highway when going over 1rpm and will stall randomly. Reported on reddit by multiple people and when I went in to get it diagnosed it was the fuel injector issue

Engine overheating due to coolant leaking and car needing head gasket replacement Fuel injectors also failed

I was traveling at 55mph when the car lost power on the freeway. I had to make my way to the shoulder. I could only travel 10mph. I had the car inspected by an independent mechanic and Honda Dealership. I was told it was the head gasket. I am told by Honda it will cost $5500 to fix. I did some research on this issue and found it to be a design flaw due to the channels that are put in the engine block to pass coolant. I found this is a prevalent and Honda did confirm it. Honda denied helping to fix the car and even though they know about the issue. We purchased this car brand new in 2018 and we thought we had a reliable vehicle with Honda's reputation. Honda's good will program did not accept the case either.
