2017 HONDA CIVIC- New Orleans, LA
The Civic idles low after coming to a stop. Idles approximately 500 rpm’s. Periodically it will drop below 500 and stall. About 3 occurrences so far. Once at 500, there is no throttle response. The pedal can be fully depressed and the motor will continue to idle. Throttle response will occur anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds later. My work around is to take the car out of DRIVE and put it back. This solves problem. Mostly. I may have to do that a second time. Reverse is different. The car doesn’t move at all 100% of the time. And it takes me to move in and out of Reverse to get it to move. There are occasions that the throttle will activate. But, if you lift off the throttle…. It won’t engage. Below asks when this happens. It began over a year ago. I would depress the throttle and could count to 3 before going. Now it’s longer than 10. But, since I’ve learned about taking the car out of gear.

My apologies, I just filled out a form (Your Complaint Number: 11563943) and forgot to add problems with AC with my 2017 Honda Civic EX Sedan. My AC went out, went to local dealership, they recharged this around August 2023 I believe. Good now, but my point is I'd ask how long this will last. They said they don't know. I'm like a day, week, month(s)? Again they couldn't say. I live in a very warm area during the Summer, need AC and I need a cool AC environment when driving. I think I deserve to be comfortable. At the dealership, I had mentioned about a Honda recall letter I received about AC. It was either the Compressor or Condenser that is recalled, I forget. Well, they stated after looking at my car, that it was the item that isn't covered. Bill would be close to $1,000.00, I believe. Come on. I find this shady, confusing and concerning with Honda. Thank you again for your help!!! Yes my Life is at risk with this as well. Again, my Life matters also! This is my 4th Honda and I never had so many things go sideways with the last three Hondas as I'm experiencing now with this 2017 Civic EX. This is just ridiculous. Just about fed up with Honda.

2nd attempt. I went to download pictures and was kicked out of site. 2017 Honda Civic EX Sedan bought used 2021. So far I've needed 2 new batteries in a very short amount of time. Multiple warning lights are appearing when I start car. Charging System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Charging System Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem, Brake Hold System Problem. Yes, charging System Problem was showing twice. Available for inspection. Yes, my safety is at risk, I'm afraid and paranoid on what else could happen while I'm driving. I'm afraid to drive my car for my own safety. You know Honda, my Life matters too! I've went online and read others with similar problems from used to brand new, going into Limp mode not being able to drive over 40 mph and myself being severely inconvenienced with my JOB. Dealership appt this Tuesday. Occurances: Nov 13 12:32 pm 12.19 TWICE 12.21 Once 12.26.23 9:39am AND 11:23am AND 1:10pm 1.2.24 10:21 am 1.4.24 11:42 am AND 12:34 pm 1.5.24 11:13 am 1.6.24 11:37 am brake light came on, binging, then went away. 1.6.24 12:12pm. Trunk will open seemingly at random. Occurs while driving, parked, turned off, etc. Widespread problem as it has been reported on multiple car forums, all with the same response from dealers; can’t reproduce issue or they don’t know what’s wrong.

Fuel injectors failing before 65,000 miles, causing cylinder 1, 2, and 3 misfires consistently. This problem is known by Honda, but was never recalled. This is on all of the 1.5L engine models sold after 2016. They have even created a new part with the necessary flex joints to correct the issue, but charge out of pocket for inevitable and completely unavoidable replacement. This is nearly a $1400 repair from an OEM part that is guaranteed to fail around 60-70k miles. Multiple cylinder misfires have cause complete loss of throttle power and acceleration while driving on multiple occasions, and should provide cause for concern as an inoperable vehicle due to manufacturer quality failure is completely unsafe and should not be pinned on the owner of the vehicle. I have been left with no choice but to save up money, while living paycheck to paycheck in capitalist America, to replace these DEALERSHIP ONLY injectors while risking a flooding of catalytic converter with raw fuel due to system failure. Multiple safety features, including traction control and power steering assistance, are completely inoperable due to these misfires caused by faulty OEM fuel injectors. This issue is a SAFETY concern and also a vehicular health concern. I should not be given the “destroy your vehicle and risk your safety or replace a $1300 part out of pocket” dilemma because of quality failure at production levels.

Keep getting LANE KEEPING and ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL errors randomly as well as BRAKE SYSTEM warning lights. Took to Honda and they said my camera and radar were functioning fine and recalibrated to be sure. I’m still receiving error messages daily.

Keep receiving LKAS, Adaptive Cruise Control and collision mitigation errors on my car. Started once every few months and would reset after the car would be turned off and on. Now, the warning stays on. Both sensor areas are clean and unobstructed.

My fuel injectors have failed for the second time today. The first time they failed at 54k miles and the second time they failed at 94k miles. Both times I was on the expressway driving at least 55mph when suddenly the car does not accelerate and I am forced to pull over as my car slows down. This is dangerous when I am on the expressway and suddenly I cannot maintain a safe rate of speed for this kind of road. Honda refused to replace the injectors the first time because I was past my general 36k mile warranty although I was still within my 60k powertrain warranty. Although the manufacturer of the injectors Keihin considers the injectors a powertrain component, Honda does not by definition in their warranty. I am now left with a repair bill of over $500 for the second time for fuel injectors and a fuel rail. Honda needs to be held responsible and ordered to issue a recall for this widespread issue.
