2024 HONDA CIVIC Complaints

Brand new vehicle and already having issues with steering. The steering wheel takes a lot of strength to steer, at first I thought it was an issue of me getting used to the car but a few days into having the car the recall notification came. I also compare it to multiple civic car my co workers own, it was not the same steering. The vehicle I test drove (hybrid civic - sport touring) was not the one I purchase which was definitely my mistake for not comparing them both. Dealership has been unresponsive, at first I tried calling and would hang up on me telling me the VIN was not valid. I attempted to reach the service desk with no luck. I finally went in person (I can provide names if needed of associate in service) and the advisor who helped me told me Honda was not fixing recalls after cars were purchased, only if they are unsold on the lot. He kept telling me to not worry about it and to trust him (total stranger who did not bother to look up the recall or inspect the vehicle). I repeated my self to make sure I understood him correctly and I asked again as plainly as possible: does Honda not intent on fixing safety recalls? and he told me no, not once the vehicle has been sold. I have been doubting myself for purchasing this car instead of the Subaru Impreza and now I hate myself the more for it, after this. The vehicle is exhausting to drive, I have a long commute to work 52 miles one way. I needed a vehicle to be safe and comfortable in. This was not it.

There is a recall to the steering on 2024 Honda civic. I had the steering pull on me towards the right. I am not entirely sure the cause, but would like to address this either way so there is not a potential loss of steering in the future.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Civic. The contact stated that when attempting to make a left turn into a parking lot, after being idle, the steering wheel seized while still turned to the left. This caused the vehicle to continue turning to the left. The vehicle resulted in crashing into another vehicle nearby ultimately coming to a complete stop. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact's left hand was fractured. The driver in the other vehicle received injuries as well however the contact was unsure of the exact injuries sustained. Medical attention was needed for both the contact and the other driver. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to their residency. The other vehicle was damaged and needed to be towed. A police report was filed. The contact called the dealer who informed her that the VIN was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000 (Steering) however the remedy would not be available till December 6, 2024. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,000.

The steering gearbox worm wheel in my 2024 Honda Civic (VIN: [XXX] ) has malfunctioned, creating increased friction and resistance, which poses a serious safety risk by compromising my ability to steer safely. This issue, confirmed by Honda’s recall notice (NHTSA Recall Number 24V-744), could lead to loss of control, increasing the risk of an accident. Despite contacting Honda and my dealership multiple times over the past month, no repair or inspection has been performed, and I’ve been unable to get a timeline for resolution. The steering also began making an unusual noise recently, heightening my concern. Given the unresolved safety defect and the car's diminished value, I believe this vehicle qualifies as a “lemon,” and I am seeking either a replacement or relief from the loan due to the financial and safety implications. The ball joint metal part broke. The ball joint is not connected to the lower control arm instead the ball joint is a part that has a metal piece included that connects to the lower control arm. The piece is thin and break in my car over a small pothole doing speed limit this would not happen in any other make. The part looks cheap on the metal piece. The safety of the vehicle was bad until I got a safe place to park the car there was a lot of damage the wheel departed of the cv axle making it dangerous. No symptoms just a piece that is thin and dangerous to any inconvenience that drivers may occur. It would be good there is an action and further investigation of the ball joint part and hopefully there is going to be a recall regarding the incident for a lower control arm that connects directly to the ball joint or a more thick and durable piece

Called Honda Service Center regarding recall. Was told that Honda wasn’t planning on fixing the recall unless owner was having problems.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. I called to confirm the recall on my vehicle and after I was told that in fact my vehicle does have a recall that they don't have the parts so I will have to wait, I was not given any time line and absolutely no information on when my vehicle recall will be fixed

The contact was advised that parts would not be made available for remedy of this recall until December 2024. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 500.
