2018 HONDA CR-V Complaints

On 3 occasions my CRV has implemented the automatic break system when there is nothing in front of me and no reason to break. Today it happened when traveling 40+ mile an hour and the sudden break caused a near rear collision.

After work I was on my way home. I was stopped at a traffic light when the light turned green. I came off the brake and began to step on the gas when the car stopped suddenly and a "Brake" light showed on my dashboard. There was nothing in front of my car at the time as I was the first in line. After the car stopped suddenly it immediatly started rolling again and I was able to continue driving as normal and got home safely. Thankfully the car behind me did not crash into me. There was no warning/lights/messages before to signal a problem.

While driving all of the dash warning lights concerning the Honda Sensing System came on with malfunction warnings. This has happened multiple times since that first occasion but mostly occurs the first time the car is used that day. Sometimes turning the car off and on resets the problem. I have a video of the warning lights, and the malfunction was witnessed by my local mechanic. The dealership looked at the car at a time when the warning lights were not on and couldn't identify anything wrong with the vehicle. They assured me the car is safe to drive, but the Honda Sensing Package is deactivated.

All safety lights are showing on dash. This is NOT due to low battery power as it happened before and after replacement. I have reset the infotainment and even disconnected and reconnected the battery. The problem always comes back. I have been to two mechanics and spoken with a Honda dealer. No one has been able to fix the problem. Hill assist, cruise control, awd, and other electronic safety systems no longer work. I have seen multiple discussion boards where Crv owners are experiencing this major safety issue. There needs to be a recall and Honda needs to take ownership of this problem.

While on the highway, the car suddenly slammed on the brakes and stiffened the steering wheel. Was a sunny day, passing under a bridge. There was a dark shadow cast horizontally across the road by the bridge. I turned on my blinker to change lanes. A second vehicle approached quickly from the back left hand side. The car suddenly hit the brakes. If there was a car following closely, we would have been rear ended. If my new-driver son had been driving, it could have resulted in a (further and more dangerous) loss of control. The braking was shocking, unnecessary and dangerous and it happened on a fast, narrow, twisting highway through a city. At a minimum, it seems the owner should have the ability to turn this collision mitigation system off permanently. This system is dangerous in its current state.

I was driving along a road when I was suddenly out of nowhere thrown forward as my car beeped and the automatic breaking system kicked in. There was nothing there! No one was driving in front of me. I now have some whiplash which is really unfortunate and I do not trust my car not doing this again with my 10 month daughter in the car. All Honda CRV’s should be recalled. It’s horrific and dangerous! Had this happened on a motorway we would have had someone coming through our back window!

Both driver and passenger day time running lights have burned out. The Honda CR V has 19000 miles on it. Honda did a recall on the Accords for the same issue, why not the CR V and civic that have the same problem.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle veered into the right lane. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed of an unknown recall for the steering. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a steering recall. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

The car's automatic emergency braking (AEB) system unexpectedly applied brakes while the vehicle was in motion on the freeway and almost caused a crash.

Honda CR-V 2018. Faulty camshaft. About August 7. While driving I had car act sluggish. Noticed my dashboard lights on. About a few weeks later about Sept 17 my car changed gears on me while driving. Sept 30 2022 had diagnostics done at dealer. I have a text. Per McDavid Honda of Plano TX. “We're done with the diagnostics, your vehicle had an intermediate failure on your Camshaft position sensor.” Avail for inspection. The sensor can cause safety risks as the car stalling while driving. Engine misfire. Transmission shifting issues. Car may not start. Car can jerk forward while driving as a result of an improper amount of fuel being injected into cylinders. Poor acceleration. First appeared in August. Had dealer review on about 8/25/22. Said they fixed it but it wasn’t fixed. 9/30/22 had dealer do diagnostics testing. Again they said it was fixed. It was not fixed. Having dealer look at it again 10/3/22. Warning signs include sensor lights on dashboard: engine light, emission system problem, brake system fail, parking sensor fail, tire pressure system problem, electric parking brake problem, auto high beam problem, road departure system problem, adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, hill start assist problem, vehicle stability problem, power steering system problem, brake hold system problem,
