2018 HONDA CR-V Complaints

Battery failures. Experience battery failures twice within a 3 year period. First incident the vehicle was parked in out garage and required to be towed to dealership and battery replaced and second incident was able to drive to dealership to have battery replaced. Had the electronic system tested at the dealership and tested within operating specifications. When the battery is failing the driver and infotainment displays starts to glitch/malfunction. In both cased there were not any battery messages to alert the driver.

I had been running errands, driving, made 2 stops. When I cranked the car at the 3rd stop, the Dashboard warning system lights all come on and won’t go off. This includes the TPMS System, Brake Failure warning light, Emergency Brake Light, Lane Assist, VSA warning, etc. The car was drivable, so I took it to the dealer in December 2020. They said battery was low and I bought a new one. October, 2021, it happened again. The battery was under warranty, so they changed it out for a new one. Today, 2 weeks later, November 2021, it happened again. The dealer is keeping it for diagnostics. No resolution yet. The vehicle has less than 25k miles, but of course not under warranty because it was purchased more than 3 years ago.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, he detected a fuel odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he scheduled an appointment for a diagnostic test with the dealer. The failure was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.

All warning lights come on as a result of this issue. Vehicle has under 100k miles on it. As a result, when operating vehicle, many safety features are unable to be used: Tire Pressure Monitoring System Adaptive Cruise Control Braking System Failure Power Steering Failure Vehicle Stability Assist and a myriad of other warning lights. This makes this vehicle, purchased for many of these safety features, UNSAFE and a hazard. Fuel injectors should not be failing so early in the life cycle of a vehicle. Speaking with Service Advisors at the dealership this is a manufacturing issue with other models, but not with this model. Research on the internet and Honda forums indicates this is a KNOWN ISSUE which Honda REFUSES to make right. Instead consumers are forced to pay outrageous repair fees and usually only at their dealerships due to the specialty of the parts involved. Honda should be addressing this manufacturing issue rather than forcing consumers to pay for their mistakes with a virtually brand new car.

Vehicle stalled when accelerating to overtake another vehicle. No errors/warnings, displays were working but speed suddenly dropped and does not increase no matter what. It was scary. Luckily I was able to come back to a shoulder lane and stop the vehicle. Vehicle ran normally after powering off and starting again. I've been driving the vehicle for couple of hours on freeway by then. This happened 4 times over the summer. Dealers are asking for $200 to diagnose but not promising that they will be able to find the problem since the issue does not happen consistently. I suspect it is due to oil dilution problem for which Honda performed repair last year.

While driving the error warnings lit up the dashboard display to include brakes, power steering, and other sensors. Lost electrical power steering and had to park the vehicle and have it towed to a Honda service repair shop. Less than 38,000 miles right after 36 months of a lease. Service repair estimate $3900 dollars to replace the electric power steering box.

We were driving across Florida on 1-10 on final leg of a 3-day trip. At 73 miles per hour the center display went crazy. We got in short order an ACC warning and numerous other alarms in the driver information center under the speedometer. This continued for a minute. After slowing down and pulling off the road and shutting down car, the problem went away. The following Wednesday , the center vehicle display in city traffic went crazy beeping and flashing brighter then darker. The brightness setting slider bar came on and would not go away. The radio signal changed channels and volumes. A loud beeping similiar to the verification tone when inputting settings was going off repeatedly. Nothing stopped the above warnings until my wife arrived home and we shut down the engine. The only way to stop all was to shutdown the center display completely

Believe fuel mixing with oil. Information center on car keeps rolling thru system saying things aren't working. Happened initially spring 2021 and again now Oct 20 2021. Changed oil and problem went away. Initially took it to a shop for service and had code P0172 which the air fuel mixture has too much fuel or not enough air. Took to dealer and since service had already done oil change dealer could not find problem. Happened again today Oct 20 2021. At dealer now and did not turn car off so they can see code.

This has happened several times in my vehicle now. On city streets I have had the collision avoidance system activate when there is no obstruction whatever. I was traveling 35-40 mph once and the system slammed the brakes on with with little or no warning. There was NO obstruction ahead and the car behind me nearly rear ended my vehicle. This has literally made me scared to drive my vehicle as it seems to be totally random as where and when it may occur. I sometime get the BRAKE light and audible notification, but again this comes on with NO obstruction ahead of me including other cars.

The contact stated an independent mechanic came to her residence and informed her that the engine needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on 10/17/2021, while driving 45 MPH, the engine experienced a misfire and the vehicle started to decelerate. The contact stated that multiple warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road. The contact stated she was able to drive back to her residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
