2018 HONDA CR-V Complaints

The contact owned a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that his wife was driving approximately 60 mph, when a Chevy Blazer crashed into the vehicle. The front passenger door was detached during the impact. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The passenger occupant sustained head injuries, and medical attention was provided. The driver and two rear occupants had no injuries, but medical attention was provided at the hospital. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

On Aug 15, 2023 i was turning left at an intersection with no cars in front of me and no cars in oncoming traffic. i was going 20-25mph and slowing down a little bit to turn when i drove over a standard metal plate on the road and my 2018 Honda crv came to a complete abrupt and loud , painful stop. Lucky i wasn’t going any faster and there weren’t any cars immediately behind me. It did cause some pain in my back and neck and shook me up at the abruptness.

As I am steering it seems to catch. Sometimes I think it is not gonna turn The dealer said my warranty is out and it will cost me almost $2500.00 dollars This has been going on for at least three years. This is bad for a 2018 CRV with less than 70,000 miles??

I own a 2018 CRV, which only has 36,000 miles on it. This last week I had a "diagnostic" done on it at my Honda dealership (Howdy Honda in Austin TX) due to serious steering issues I was having. ( My steering makes a clicking/creaking noise when backing out of my driveway etc, and when driving, whichever direction I turn, the steering wheel sticks in that direction so I am forced to very firmly turn the steering wheel back to where it needs to be in order to control the car.) The dealership said I needed my "power steering gear box" replaced for $3,157 plus tax! But I was told today that the parts are on back order nationwide so it could be several weeks before they get them to repair my car! I'm a single lady with no other car to drive & my dealership does not provide "loaner cars" so I'll be picking up my car & driving it home tomorrow in it's current state. There has been no recall for my VIN number concerning this issue but it appears many 2018 CRV owners are having this same issue, some causing serious accidents! There were no warning messages or lamps when the problem began. It came on gradually & the more it's driven, the worse it gets.

The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that on three occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The contact stated that an orange warning light might have been illuminated. The vehicle was driven to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000. The VIN was unavailable.

My Honda CRV infotainment system is flashing on and off uncontrollably with the brightness setting and cannot stop. It is very distracting and dangerous to drive at night as the entire screen flashes on and off brightly and beeps. I have taken multiple videos of the incident and also sent it to the Honda Dealership where they have not fixed the issue. They only did a factory reset and the issue still happens daily. I am aware of a Honda service bulletin 19-066 that is describing this exact issue but it is not a recall so they will not update the faulty software to fix the issue. Very dangerous to drive with this issue.

This issue is something I've noticed happen about once every six months since I've had the car (purchased in January 2018), but I have never had it inspected or confirmed by an authorized professional, dealer, etc. On occasion, the automatic brake system will detect a false positive and flash on the screen to brake OR just automatically apply the brakes for the vehicle, even when there is nothing in front of me. I don't know if it's coincidence, but this tends to happen when there are virtually no vehicles within close vicinity and when I'm either cresting a slight incline or at the base of a slight decline. I have had this happen at various speeds, from 30mph to 60mph. This puts my and others' safety at risk as an unexpected brake may cause a crash. No messages or other symptoms of this problem exist. It just happens on occasion.

Steering binds. You feel resistance to turning the wheel in either direction before it steers when added force is put on the steering wheel.

The steering gearbox on our 2018 Honda CR-V has been malfunctioning for the last two months, causing the steering wheel to creak and pull toward the center whenever making left turns, especially sharp turns. After releasing the steering wheel from a left turn, the steering wheel jerks back to the center position suddenly, affecting the vehicle's direction. Through online research, we discovered that Honda issued a recall bulletin numbered 18-103 to address this issue, but our VIN was not included in that recall. We also found through our research many other 2018 Honda CR-V owners that have experienced the same problem, but their VINs were also not included in the recall. Upon inspection by a service technician at our local dealership, they confirmed that the steering gearbox was faulty and needed replacing, but after submitting a "goodwill request" to have the service provided, we were denied due to the mileage and age of our vehicle. We believe this to be an unfair and unsafe situation that Honda should remedy for the safety of our family.
