2018 HONDA CR-V Complaints

I bought this vehicle few weeks ago from the Honda Bellevue, Washington state. After one week or more, all warning signal were presented and we could smell strong gasoline inside cabin when all windows were closed. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they couldn't figure out the problem but only updated the software for me. After the checkup, me and my family smelled gasoline twice. I am so worry about it because I have used this vehicle to deliver my 8 year old son to school and other sport activties.

The steering moves left or right unexpectedly. A jerking motion is felt and a clunk noise is heard. The symptoms and offered solution are identical to Honda Service Bulletin 18-103. Supposedly our vehicle (VIN) is not included in the known recall for this safety hazard. We believe they have not identified all 2018 CRV's with this faulty steering box. Neither the Honda dealership nor Honda America have been responsive to this safety issue.

On 2 separate occasions the car braked on its own one time so severely my seat belt activated. Brake light flashed on dash both times Luckily no one was behind me or it would have been an accident. First time it happened as we drove on the interstate. On both occasions there were no cars in front of us to warrant the car to break. It does it on its own

The Driver's side seat belt would sound and feel like it latched but then when pressure was applied to the seat belt, the belt would unlatch. This happens at least once a day when driving. Having a seatbelt become unlatched while driving is incredibly unsafe and troublesome. I brought the car to the dealer and they confirmed that the seatbelt became unlatched when they tested the phenomenon. I also looked it up on Honda's recall list and it looks like CR-Vs from 2017-2020 have had this problem and many have been recalled. However, it seems as though my vehicle was not part of the recall.

A clicking noise and jerking of steering wheel when making turns. Feel uncomfortable and unsure of safety with this happening. This occurs at low speeds like when parking or pulling into or out off the garage, as well as at highway speed. My long time mehanic/service hears and feels it but unsure of the cause and thought maybe there was a Honda recall. No warning lights displayed.

My 2018 CRV began idling rough so I scheduled an appointment. When I arrived, indicated that it sounded like I needed fuel injectors which they see alot with the CRV. After diagnostics on 7/17/2023, I was given a repair estimate of $2067, then told the parts were backordered until at least 8/13/2023. I have never had to replace fuel injectors on any other car I've owned. This issue has been recalled on other models and apparently the dealerships are well aware of the issue - replacing so many of these that Honda cant keep them in stock. A $2067 repair estimate for a faulty part is unreasonable at 80,000 miles. Even more concerning is that every warning light and chime in my car is going off and the advanced safety features are disabled. I cant drive with a cell phone in my hand due to distraction but apparently it is okay to drive around with warnings, chimes and disabled safety features.

I am writing today because I am trying to avoid and accident involving injury and possible death as a result of a situation which is present on on above referenced 2018 Honda CRV, with just 54,000 miles on the odometer, we are needing to consider replacement on what would be our 3rd set of tires, as the result of premature tire wear, on the rear axle, because there is no adjustment to the upper rear control arm, we have purposefully rotated the tires and still experience premature tire wear on the inside shoulder of the tire. I consider this situation to be a manufacturing defect, as we have attempted several 4-wheel alignments, and have been told that without an adjustable rear upper control, no positive results can be reached. I have experienced my honda crv apply its automatic braking as if detects a collision but nothing is in my way. The message will flash on the screen a few seconds before. If someone is not wearing a seatbelt, they will be projected forward. I have noticed it will do it if the sun creates a shadow from a traffic light onto the road and it thinks something is in the way. Most always it is completely random and on moderate speed roadways when the person behind me may not have time to stop.

When driving the steering feels like it's resisting. I purchased the car used and noticed it at 36k miles but never owning a vehicle with auto assist features, I just thought it had to do with that. When turning the steering wheel feels like it's sticking and I have to over correct to go straight again. I brought to dealership and they said I need to replace the steering rack. I've seen where many people are having the same issue. I love my car but not now that I don't feel safe driving it.

On July 25, 2023, in Naples, Florida, at approximately noon I was driving straight doing approximately 20MPH when the car suddenly hard braked, made a warning sound, something flashed on the screen and then, as suddenly, returned to normal driving. The outside temperature was 93-94F and there were no others automobiles in front, to the side or behind my CRV.
