2018 HONDA CR-V Complaints

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the steering column became stiff with a clicking noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with power steering rack and electric steering gear failure. The contact was informed that the power steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,300.

The steering has about an inch of slack before it engages, both right and left. It seems many other owners are having the same problem but the VIN isn't included in the steering recall.

AC Discharge Hose replaced due to leak. Many people reported this same issue on online forums on the same vehicle. This is on a 1.5 L engine. Refrigerant type is R-1234yf. There was a recall on the compressor shaft seal deterioration due to this refrigerant type. Could the same be said for the discharge hose? I have already replaced my vehicles discharge hose. For diagnostics and repairs it cost between 800-1100 dollars depending on the shop due to labor. For the average American this is too expensive and some may choose not to repair the AC system and the heat is not good for families with children. There were no warning lamps the car just stopped cooling.

Warning lights on the dashboard are all going on at once. Something like this happened intermittently with the ADAS system; occasionally they would all report a malfunction. When turning off the car and restarting the car, they would go away. Now all warning lights are going off at once. This poses a safety hazard because any real problem is obscured by the cacophony of false alarms. Other folks have reported this issue.

In February, 2023 all of the warning lights came on my 2018 Honda CRV, including brake failure, lane departure and many more, making me afraid to drive the car. Dealer wants to replace fuel injectors, but none are available! I’m afraid my car is a danger to myself and others on the road, since all the warning lights continue to appear. HELP!!

Driving on Friday July21 on 495 beltway in northern VA , and i was in the middle lane of the highway with no object, car, and others in front with at least 150 yards. the CRV breaks automatically without warning. it was very terrifying, luckily no car was following me.

While driving, the emergency braking system randomly illuminates and today it actually applied the brakes by itself. Nobody behind car thankfully. Apparently this is an issue for these cars.

While driving the steering gets heavy and seams like it’s trying to jump back to a drop dead centering position. I had the car at a dealership with approximately 32000 miles on it and they said they reset a zero positioning sensor. I guess they have to say something. The steering clicks and will actually pull another way. My wife refused to drive it and seeing how we have another one these vehicles we can sure as hell tell the difference. An older person or even my parents would be scared to death when this happened. I can’t believe HONDA isn’t taking the initiative to address this issue with reading so many comparable complaints. The dealerships try to deflect from the issue by coming up some automotive jargon solution like your tires are low on air, ( HAVE NEW) your sensor was reset etc, only to reach a point of a $2500. 00 repair. I had or have lots of Honda products through the years and maybe their not the quality I remember but nevertheless when you have other Honda’s steering fine when you drive them in the family, I think something’s wrong. Especially when it actually scares people to drive something with something so critical as “STEERING”. The vehicle only has 33000 miles.
