2019 HONDA INSIGHT- San Bruno, CA
I started the car on December 9th to find a bunch of errors. All the sudden I have lost my cruise control, collision prevention assist, light assist, and other features. I immediately took the car to the nearest Honda dealership near my home and got it checked out. The code showed that part #36163-TXM-A45, a camera used for these features, had failed. I was told by Jessie Loso, the repair representative, that the part will need to be replaced. The car had only 14,763 miles on it however because it was barely driven during COVID lockdowns. Now the original part was not damaged and it had failed on its own for no apparent reason. The only reason that we were given by Victory repair department is that the car was left out in the elements. This was not an appropriate excuse for this failure considering we live in an area where many people park on the street or use their garages for storage, due too lack of space in their homes. I was told by Victory Honda in San Bruno. CA to call Honda about the defect in the part and for reimbursement. The complaint was placed with Sady Case #13552610 on December 22nd with Honda itself. I was told that since there was no recall on the part itself, that I would not be reimbursed and that I would not get an extension on my warranty. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor because I was not even being heard out by the representative. I was informed that a manager would get back to me eventually, but I would still not be reimbursed for a part that had failed for no apparent reasons or damage. I am writing this report today because this part is tied into many safety functions of the car. If the part has malfunctioned in this way, then who is to say that the car won’t break randomly due to the same part. I find this extremely concerning and was told by BAR in California to report it to the NHTSA just in case it is a consistent issue with Honda vehicles.

Rear view camera Camera suddenly changed colors and is blurry. Cleaned multiple times and it is still always like this now. Shows neon bright colors instead of reality. Needs software update possibly?? There was a recall for this before and it was fixed by previous owner. But there may need to be a new update drivers are not aware about?

I was driving down the street and a car slowed down way in front of me. While I was braking my automatic braking system turned on and brought me to a complete stop. This caused my car to get hit from the back. The automatic braking does not slow down the car, it brings the car to a complete stop. Another incident, I was driving on the highway with nothing was in front of me and the brake signal started flashing and slowing the car down.

When you turn on the right indicator the camera which shows the right right side of the vehicle it either does not turn on or when it turns on it turns off within a second there is no recall I just wanted to make sure that it's reported and fixed by Honda as a safety issue.

Lane keep assist doesn't response on a clean white dotted lane. In most occasions. I have seen several forums discussing the same issue. Plus the information system crashes mid way driving in ex trim. Which causes buzzing sharp noise and distraction while driving.

the automatic breaking system seems to be malfunctioning and is available for inspection upon request. safety of occupants at risk due to possible accident caused by unwarranted breaking. the problem cannot be consistently reproduced and was not confirmed by dealer or independent service center the vehicle has not been inspected by manufactuer, police or insurance reps the system would inadvertently be activated on previous occasions. but on this last instance, the breaking was harder and more sudden and was activated when there was no danger of frontal collision.

Driving on the highway in the evening with no obstruction ahead of the vehicle, the "Automatic Emergency Braking" system engaged, giving an audible alert, visual alert, and applied braking enough to accelerate the car from 65 mph to 40 mph. No one was behind us luckily so there was no crash or injury but there easily found have been. I took the car in for repair and the service techs found no issue with the car or the system. I have now seen this reported in Accords which share much of the same design and technology as the Insight. Please add this to the the complaint list for the outstanding issue so Honda will include the Insight into their analysis.

Both types of errors have occurred multiple times. Sometimes, the forward collision warning system triggers when no obstruction is present. More frequently, the adaptive cruise control decelerates even when no car is nearby or the car in front of me has not decelerated. In both cases, depressing the accelerator pedal overrides the automatic braking and avoid an accident.
