2024 HONDA PROLOGUE Complaints

I have a 2024 Honda Prologue EX AWD, leased new, with approximately 16,000 miles. At approximately 13,000 miles, I started to hear clicking/cracking from the front of the car while turning under either acceleration or braking. I soon learned that this was a common issue with the Prologue's front axles. I had my local dealer inspect it in November 2025, and they heard the noise. However, I was told that Honda had instructed its dealers not to replace any defective axles until a suitable replacement part was developed. The service manager advised me that this was not a safety issue. I disagree with this assessment. As the axles are a critical component, I feel my safety is at risk when driving this car.

Today, my Honda dealer said they will not perform the update needed for Manufacturer Recall Number XNK and NHTSA Recall Number 26V-112 because it failed on another vehicle last week. They have no ETA.

CV joints/axles make a loud clicking sound when I turn the vehicle hard left or hard right. This issue appeared in late December 2025 when the vehicle had less than 5,000 miles. This issue has been inspected and confirmed by the dealer. There are no warning messages when this occurs. I brought the vehicle back to the dealer after waiting a few weeks for the new parts to arrive, but I was turned away because they said they had received parts that still had the defect. I called today for an update, and they said there is no ETA for the updated CV joints.

At slower speeds and tight turning, there is a clacking sound that occurs. I went to the dealer, and they say it is a known issue, but that Honda doesn't have a fix for it yet and didn't say whether they would fix it or not. I read this has something to do with CV joints and axle, and that is concerning that it could become a safety concern. I have read many people are complaining about it. I am hoping by submitting my complaint, you will force a recall to have Honda correct the design issue and take the corrective action.

The issue appears to involve the steering, front axle or front drivetrain assembly. When turning the steering wheel, particularly at low speeds such as during parking maneuvers or tight turns, there is a distinct clicking or popping sound coming from the front axle area both left and right side The noise is mechanical in nature and occurs repeatedly when the steering angle increases. This behavior suggests a possible issue with the front axle shaft, (CV) joint, or related drivetrain components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. A clicking or popping sound from the front axle during turning can be an early indicator of drivetrain component wear or failure, particularly involving CV joints or axle shafts. If a front axle or joint were to fail while the vehicle is in motion, it could result in sudden loss of propulsion to the wheel or compromised control during turning. Because this noise occurs during routine driving maneuvers, it raises concern that a critical drivetrain component may be prematurely failing. A failure during a turn, intersection maneuver, or while entering traffic could create a hazardous situation for the driver and surrounding vehicles. I’m concerned because I had a similar issue with a 1994 Honda Accord; the CV boots were bad and there was a risk (I was told) that the front suspension could collapse while driving especially on highway. The condition is easily reproducible during low-speed turning and parking maneuvers and occurs consistently when the steering wheel is turned to moderate or higher angles. At this time the vehicle has not yet undergone a full diagnostic evaluation by a dealer, but the symptom is repeatable under normal driving conditions. It was noted on test drive upon purchase. Salesperson dismissed it was part of “regenerative braking.” It did undergo multipoint inspection as part of CPO process prior to purchase. It was "cleared" for CPO and purchase.

Loud clicking noise/knocking when I turn left or right. I first notified Honda service on 9/24/25. I was told I would need a new axle but the part was backordered nationwide. The noise seems to be getting worse with small vibrations when turning. I called the same dealership service today 3/5/26 and was told Honda corporate release guidance two weeks ago that this is not a safety issue and that they would not cover a new axle unless it was part of a recall.

Loud clunking noise from front end when turning right or left and accelerating from a stop or slow speed. I’ve been told by dealer that this is from defective front CV axles. I’ve also been told that this could be a safety issue if the component fails completely. Both General Motors and Honda are aware of the issue.

When driving my Honda 2024 Prologue there is a loud, persistent, clunking or popping sound whenever I turn. The dealership says it's related to the axle and/or the ball joint and there is no fix, neither is there a recall, so there is nothing they can, or will, do. This cannot be safe. When I'm driving at freeway speeds and go to turn into another lane to hear this clunking sound is very unnerving. Looking on line I know I am not the only one with this issue - there are many, many other car owners citing the same concern. Please issue a recall or safety warning so that Honda will address this issue.

2024 Prologue has a knocking sounds when turning left and right. It has only gotten worse. Honda has provided no solution and there are no parts available at Service Centers as confirmed by a Service Adviser in Escondido, CA. Honda is aware I feel unsafe driving this vehicle and made no attempt to remedy the situation.
