2017 HONDA RIDGELINE Complaints

Seat release handle is defective and breaks due to product design. Poor quality plastic material can not withstand tension from metal cable when actuated and a plastic component breaks inside the component of the seat lever causing seat to be locked in place which could potentially trap a child or the seat can not lock and stay in unlocked position and the seat will not flip up and rest in a lock position. Which is also a hazard because seat is not secured and will flop around. Honda does not sell the plastic part separately they are gouging the consumer by charging $477.92 for a replacement kit when the only part needed is a $10 plastic handle, which can easily be switched out by consumer. Average dealer cost to replace is $799 for the repair. Contacted Honda they will not sell plastic handle separately and are aware at the issue with their product.

Ridgeline backup camera wire harness gets pinched/cut from tailgate. Many others reported but no recall. Paid $472.19 to repair. 2017-2019 have reported same issue

My incident is related to the Keyless Module Part #0 38320-T6Z-A31, My pick up was parked outside in my work parking lot. It started the alarm making sounds, my coworkers let me know it,I just went to take look check it and I just turned off the alarm and set it on again, after that the car started do it again after 5 minutes, and it was a nightmare because after several times, I tried to disable the alarm in the touch screen panel, but it doesn't have any control I was available to disable it, I was seating in my car, and I noticed the instrumental panel started to turn on and off,it was like my car tried to turn on the engine by itself for several times, and making really scared noise like is going to have a electrical short cut, I was worried it can cause making my car coughing fire. I decided to make a video of it because in case it my car coughing fire. So I decided to live open my car with out lock. I noticed it was happening before after I changed the engine start/ stop switch was changed by the dealer because it was a recall and I also started having problems with the Keyless system, after they changed it, it started working again, I noticed the alarm sometimes made the same thing but I didn't put much attention about it, because it happens sometimes, but this time was really scary, so I made appointment with the dealer and they told me my car had problems with the Keyless Module, I told them if this problem is related to the engine start/stop engine. They said it wasn't. My concern is to try to preventing the vehicles can coughing fire when they are parked. I don't know it would happening but for my experienced ,Your department should find out it. I didn't change this part yet because it's really expensive to replace it. The back up camera failed to work. We either had a blank screen or a screen with a grid but no picture of what was behind the truck when going in reverse.The truck was taken in for service and found to have broken wiring in the camera harness. This was found to be at the area the tailgate opens and closes. The tailgate harness was replaced by the service center and the camera now functions properly. We have the old harness that was damaged in our possession. This was a safety issue to not be able to see what was behind you when backing up. There has been complaints filed about this problem on 2017 Honda Ridgeline in the past by others owners but no recall has been issued.

Rearview camera in tailgate stopped working due to a damaged wiring harness. The harness is routed in a manner which is sure to fail through normal tailgate operation.

The wiring to the backup camera is failing because it is crimped between the tailgate and the body. Every time you open and close the tailgate the wire flexes wearing at the sheathing and flexing the wires within. I've seen multiple reports and videos of this harness and the wires within failing which causes a short and the backup camera to fall.

This 2017 Honda Ridgeline, at present, has 47430 miles of operation. I am the third owner having purchased on 12DEC2020 w/38990 miles. The instrument panel has been plagued by faulty warning symbols for most of my ownership. The problem now has grown to the point where I can't find any maintenance displays. Also, only one screen is visible showing operational information. I am not alone in this safety issue.

Wiring is clearly broken down on the left side inside the tailgate causing the backup camera to not work. Sounds like an incredibly common issue and I am being quoted $700 to have it fixed.

The truck’s dual swinging tailgate pinches the wiring harness leading to the backup camera causing a break in the wires. The inoperative backup camera poses a safety concern.
