2008 JEEP COMMANDER Complaints

The sunroof on my 2008 Jeep Commander leaks profusely, even in mundane conditions like a rain sprinkle or carwash. Throughout the year, whenever there is a rain downpour, water leaks through the sunroof and side posts to the point that water is sloshing and splashing around as I drive, and splashes up on me when I stop. Through online research, I've learned that Chrysler refuses to address and correct the faulty drainage tubes causing the leaky sunroofs, nor does Chrysler honor warranty claims for these sunroofs despite issuing at least 7 Technical Service Bulletins about its vehicles’ faulty drainage tubes and leaking sunroofs between 1999 and 2010, the class action lawsuit says. I am now having to spend hundreds, if not thousands, to have the sunroof and side post drainage channels repaired. Thousands of other Jeep owners have had this same issue. I implore you to please hold Jeep/Chrysler accountable, and force them to rectify this faulty, defective, and poorly manufactured product that they call a "sunroof", which is actually just an open portal for water to soak us both literally and monetarily. Because of recent hail storms locally, no repair shop is even able to look at my Jeep's sunroof until November. So that means I'll have to continue arriving to work and other destinations soaking wet. Looking forward to your response and action on this matter. The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Commander. The contact stated while driving in a parking lot, she was informed that there was a metal part hanging underneath the rear subframe of the vehicle. The contact drove to her residence, where she noticed the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the gas tank support had detached and needed to be replaced; however, the part was not available. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The truck shuts down and loses all electrical most usually when slowing down for a light or coming to a stop. Most times except for one it turns back on right away. We have had numerous fixes and yet it still keeps happening. This is apparently a common keep commander issue. I am scared to travel with my kids in it.

ENGINE STALLING WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING/CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BETWEEN 55MPH TO 65MPH

The WIN module malfunctioned not allowing my vehicle to restart after stalling on the interstate. Since then, I have not been able to start my vehicle. Apparently there’s a recall on this exact same win module for the exact same year make and model of my vehicle but yet I was informed that my vin wasn’t qualified under the recall for some reason.

The jeep randomly stutters, surges, and dies at the light. The brake light comes on and off and the brakes also feel like they stutter and/or shake when pressing on the pedal break.

I was in the freeway going 68-70 mph with my wife and kids where a red lightning ?? Appears on the upper right corner, vehicle steering locked and tuned off while cars were coming. I was able to turn vehicle back on and move to the right of the freeway. Turns out it has a recall on it. I took it to Browning Dodge in Norca Ca. They say they fixed my recall I picked up my Jeep , it drove ok for a few days and it started doing the same malfunction. They said they are unable to work on my vehicle due to throttle body that was replaced by a professional mechanic.

The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic where it was not diagnosed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V200000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 240,000.

MY VEHICLE JUST QUITS WHEN I AM DRIVING . NO POWER AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF. OUR MECHANIC HAS SUGGESTED THERE HAS BEEN RECALL ON 2008 JEEP COMMANDERS. BUT WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THEY INFORMED US OUR VEHICLE IS NOT ON THE LIST.

Woke up and it wouldn’t crank, been driving it every day, Ignition module front control module May be bad like stated in the recall, won’t turn over or crank, transmission input output sensors idk maybe transmission module, wouldn’t go over 40 I’m wondering if my Jeep has problems like stated in the recall.
