2022 JEEP COMPASS Complaints

The contact’s wife owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact state that upon start up, the instrument panel was illuminated and visible; however, once the START/STOP button was depressed, the instrument panel displayed dimmed. The contact then stated that after the vehicle was shifted into reverse(R), the instrument panel illuminated and displayed visibly; however, once shifted into drive (D), the instrument panel displayed dimmed. The contact stated that he was concerned for his wife’s safety with the inability to see critical information on the instrument panel. An undisclosed dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the failure was not a safety concern and an appointment was scheduled for a later month. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

The interior displays, instrument panel, and touch screen are stuck in bright day mode. The dimmer switch in the dash will not respond or change the brightness but still turns the overhead lights on and off. At night this causes blinding conditions and a glare on the windows decreasing visibility. The issue is to be investigated by the dealer, there was a wait to get it checked. There are no warning lights and the vehicle may be inspected at any time.

Infotainment system and dashboard lighting is stuck on the brightest setting and not able to be turned down. Seems to be a software glitch or something. Driving at night is more difficult as blinded by the bright displays.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and declined to buy back the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V058000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

During night driving, the instrument cluster does not dim, staying bright and I am unable to manually lower the brightness, this produces a glare around the car which makes it extremely difficult to drive at night, I have also had instances where the instrument cluster dims during the day for a brief period of time where I can hardly read my current speed, then it returns to being bright after a few moments. I have not taken the car into Jeep for service yet but have an appointment scheduled.

Every morning the instrument panel and the radio/navigation screen are very dark. All of a sudden it will turn on. Sometimes a mile down the road and sometimes 5 miles down the road. Sometimes it never turns on. If I need to use the gps/navigation directions this is a big issue as I cannot see the screen. I cannot see the gas guage or instrument warnings. I cannot see the spedometer.

Middle cluster of dashboard is extremely dim and unresponsive to attempts in settings to alter/fix it. We have 2 additional 2022 Compass models in our family, and all three have this issue. We are submitting separate reports for each VIN.

Greetings, There is day time dash dimming issues, and unable to adjust manually. Anti collision feature randomly turns off while driving. Auto on and off feature for fuel economy has not worked in 14 months. Finally, a hard gear jerking event occurs when traveling at slow speed that feels like being rear ended by another vehicle. Not feeling safe with this Jeep. Dealer had the vehicle for week to tell me these are known issues with no remedy available. Please help!
