2024 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended or to exceed 20 MPH. The contact stated that several warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times, and the vehicle had been taken to the dealer on several occasions for repairs. The contact stated that the safety features of the vehicle were inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000(Electrical System). The manufacturer was made aware of the failures, and a case was filed. The contact had also filed a Lemon Law complaint. The failure mileage was unknown.

From vehicle start, traveled approximately 1.5 miles at top speed of approximately 25mph, applied brakes and came to a complete stop at stop sign to make left hand turn. A couple brake pumps to inch closer to ensure all clear. Once clear and removed foot from brake and attempted to accelerate into left hand turn vehicle accelerated approximately a 2-4 feet while in drive, auto park and emergency brakes abruptly engaged. Disabling the vehicle from movement, and locking gear knob from movement. Removed emergency brake and attempted to return car in drive with foot applied to brake, gear knob was still locked and would not engage. Turned off car and turned back on and gear engaged as normal. All of this took place while in oncoming traffic lane. Thankfully the oncoming traffic stopped and waited for me to move my vehicle. This could have been a critical accident. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Brakes Locked up/auto parking brake engaged, yes available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Yes, thankfully oncoming traffic stopped. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Awaiting appointment date. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Awaiting appointment date. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, I was in a state of panic and could only remember seeing something about the parking brake engagement.

This Jeep does not get the fuel milage it is suppose too (19 city and 26 hwy). It has a rough idle and almost dies when air condition is on at a stop sign or red light. The valves chatter no matter what octane of gasoline you use.

Driving on highway( no other cars or overpass in area) and sunroof on 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee exploded. Sounded like a shotgun going off, then loud flapping sound . Fortunately the Sun visor was closed or the shattered glass would have caused serious injury to driver & passengers, and could have resulted in serious or even fatal accident. The noise of the explosion scares you & could cause you to have an accident, especially if the sun viser over the sunroof had not been closed. Caused me to have to get to side of road in a construction area at night, not a safe situation. Reported to dealer next morning, were told Chrysler would have to review to see if covered. This vehicle is less than 1 yr old! No warning and no previous problems with sunroof.

Radio screen flickers and audio skips in the vehicle and causes a distraction while driving. It is sometimes a half screen flicker, full screen flicker, flickers multiple times, sometimes flickers like a strobe light. Very distracting. Had flickering radio screen replaced in vehicle by dealer who seemed familiar with the issue. Issues continued after replacement and now the music skips too. The music will sometimes skip once or twice occasionally like a CD. Otherwise is is a constant skip and you need to pull over to either restart the car or restart the radio by going through multiple levels of settings on the vehicle radio. Dealer said would need to wait for a software update. This was around April of this year. It’s September and the issues continue. Called dealer and there are no updates on this. At the same times since inception of issue I have been in contact with the manufacturer who has offered no solutions or care in the issue. Wrote a letter to the company during the spring of this year and do not receive a reply. The issue continues today and probably first noticed it at the beginning of 2025.

I have been having this error message appear intermittently in the car upon starting the vehicle since I purchased the vehicle in August 2024. See attached photo. The message appears seconds after starting up and will go away. Lane keep assist will turn off but I can turn it back on. Additionally, I have had a similar occurrence in multiple occasions while driving where these systems will turn off and present an orange light on the dashboard. I’m not able to turn the systems back on when this happens. It will reset itself after turning the car on and then off. I have had it in the dealer for this. The explanation was if the battery is below 80% charge this will happen. Seems like a weird response. You would think that if it happens once when the battery is allegedly under 80% charge, if you immediately turn off the car, and restart it ( not giving the car time to charge) it would happen again. I have tested that and it appears untrue. Appears to be some sort of software or sensor issues within the car. I have seen this issue online and the dealer seemed familiar with it on other cars.

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While the contact's husband was driving 80 MPH, the liftgate independently unlatched. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact's overnight bag flew out of the back of the vehicle. The contact stated that her prescription medications were in the overnight bag. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while her husband was driving in heavy traffic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 14,225.

I was driving with my three children in the car (including a newborn) on Monday, September 15th and was in the drive thru at the bank when my Jeep just froze. I luckily had placed it in park but it would neither turn on nor turn off - it was locked and I couldn't do anything to it. Right before it died it said "service hybrid system" and while it was in the weird not on but not off state, the battery icon was illuminated - even though the car was on. I called Stellantis for a tow because I was stuck - however they told me if they couldn't get it into neutral they couldn't tow it. After about 45 minutes the Jeep finally allowed me to turn it off and turn it back on, but I was terrified driving it home. My husband took it to Findlay Jeep in Post Falls on Wednesday, September 17th to see what the error code was and they said something about a cooling system error for the hybrid electrical system. We are taking it to Dishman Dodge on Monday September 22nd because that is the dealership we purchased from and they didn't have a technician who knew how to work on the hybrid system until then. I am also concerned about the current active recall for the propulsion system that has no current fix. I use this vehicle to carry my children around and now there are multiple safety concerns that can have lead to a fatal accident. I have filed a buyback request from Jeep because we have this vehicle on a lease - FCA Case #94280851.

Sudden loss of power steering. After starting car, Codes came up immediately for backup sensor needing service, then loss of power steering needing service, check engine light and flashing mileage on dashboard. Currently at dealership waiting for assessment.

On 7/14/25, While driving 70mph on interstate, vehicle shut off, displayed service hybrid electric system, then came back on like normal. Today, 9/19/25, driving 60mph on highway, vehicle shut off, displayed service hybrid electric system and would not turn back on. I had to come to a complete stop on berm, shift to park, and restart vehicle.
