2014 JEEP PATRIOT Complaints

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the catalytic converter. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to the Emissions Recall U67. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 157,000.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V668000 (Seat Belts, Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while a family member was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was involved in a head-on collision. The contact stated that the driver's front air bag did not deploy and the family member died in the crash. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the police impound lot. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 168,000. 

When travelling at high speeds, the engine repeatedly stalls, the engine light comes on the engine shuts down posing a major safety risk especially when on the highway at 65-70 mile hour speeds. There is a recall on similar models, but my vehicle's vin number is not showing. I am concerned that this vehicle has the same issue, but Chrysler is refusing to check it. The recall campaign number is N52 for a certain group of vehicles of the same model and the problem described is exactly what I am having with my vehicle. Essentially, my vehicle is posing a serious safety hazard and Chrysler is not willing to address it. I would appreciate any help with this matter. I have had two different mechanics look at it before I saw the recall and unable to detect the problem. Now that I have read the information on the recall, I want to have Chrysler review it for the recall. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed and determined that the headrest needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact had not received a callback. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

Head restraint on passenger side deployed while not car. There was no collision. The car was parked in my drive. Chrysler avoids responsibility. My car has under 64,000 miles. It could have hurt a passenger if I was traveling. There should have been a recall. There are class suits on the problem with Chrysler vehicles.

At long rides in hot weather traveling over 65 miles a hour car slows down to a sto was in fast lane at time had to put hazards on to make to shoulder a message on dashboard lights up red circle with ! Inside of circle looked on manual its marked as transmission overheat when vehicle cools down can start driving again I've brought to dealer in NJ and fla for problem mechanics state can't duplicate message so did unwanted repairs when today 10/30/2023 after complaining to Chrysler now they can dupicate message and states theres a problem with transmission this problem had been with me since I brought car in 2014 i looked online and have seen many complaints about the cvt transmission my car is at dealer now with price tag of 9000 to repair please help me get my repairs

Lightning bolt symbol, check engine light and traction control lights came on and vehicle went into limp mode while taking my 3 yr old to pre school. Scans say vacuum leak/throttle body. This is a recurrent problem with these cars and has had recalls on certain ones. Almost didnt make it where i was going. . . Needs to be addresses on this model too. My car only has 76,721 miles.

The contact also heard abnormal sounds coming from the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the vehicle was not under recall or warranty. The failure mileage was unknown.

while driving multiple warning lights on the dashboard come on. at times the vehicle will stall and I have to wait 10-15 minutes before it will restart. at times the anti-theft system will wngage causing all interior components and dash lights to go out, i then have to pull over , disconnect the battery and pull the ignition fuse to reset the anti-theft system, after waiting approximately 15 minutes the vehicle will start and operate normally. while driving at times the vehicle will suddenly jerk very hard feeling like I hit a large speed bump, the warning lights on the dash will all come on briefly and the vehicle will resume driving normally. at times the vehicle stalls while idling. while driving with the accelerator pressed the fog lights will flash and the inerior fan will blow at a decreased speed, once the accelerator is released the fog lights glow normally and the interior fan will blow correctly until the vehicle slows below 18 mph at which time the interior fan will again decrease in functioning. this also affects the adapter and charging of my phone as it will not charge properly while plugged into the aux adapter. I believe there is some sort of electrical malfunction. I have replaced the vehicles ECM and crankshaft position sensor, and I am considering replacing the throttle position sensor and throttle pedal assembly. There are no active recalls listed for this vehicle at this time, although any one of these issues could potentially cause an accident with injuries especially on wet or icy road conditions, and given this vehicle is front wheel drive the temporary jolting from whatever is causing the vehicle issues could potentially cause a lose of control resulting in an accident. It should be noted that all of these issues began at approximately the same time period, and after reading through otgher complaints it would appear that there is some sort of significant electrical malfunction in these vehicles.
