2017 JEEP RENEGADE Complaints

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that the vehicle consumed an excessive amount of engine oil. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer three times to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no additional assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

The contact stated while driving 30 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle inadvertently slowed down with several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the cruise control disengaged and failed to re-engage. The contact then noticed that none of the electrical features in the vehicle was working. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle was having electrical issues. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was experiencing the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V485000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer advised her to contact the NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

I received a recall notice for engine consuming too much oil at which around the same time I was driving when the engine stalled on me in the middle of the road. I went to the dealer and they mentioned that engine was empty of oil. An oil consumption test was done and yielded normal results according to the dealership. Fresh oil change was given and after 3000 miles, the same problem occurred: engine stalled on me in the middle of the road way before the manufacturer recommended oil change interval. I called FCA Chrysler manufacturer who told me to go to another dealership. I go to another dealership and they said the same thing: oil consumption is normal. Dealer has been overfilling oil to compensate for the oil consumption so that when I return for oil changes or to complain, the oil leves appear to be normal.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel line stellar neck housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 23,570.

Instrument panel will show various light/warning issues when there is no problem

Also, while driving on the freeway at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who replaced the alternator. Also, the vehicle had experienced various intermittent electrical failures where the doors locks, key fob, and instrument cluster would not operate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the failure as due to an electrical failure in the entertainment system. The entertainment system was replaced. The failure mileage was 20,000.

When driving my Jeep many times at the speed of 29 mph, my vehicle jerks violently and shifts hard. I am concerned when this happens as I am in forward motion when this occurs that it could cause a safety issue or Hazzard.

P215V60R17 Car was driving with a shimmy as if wheel was not balanced, then low pressure warning came on. Display gives tire PSI and it showed left front tire low and losing 1 psi per 2 minutes approx. Stopping to check which revealed belts were exposed and tread was missing in one spot in center of tread and air was leaking here. Tread was normal (about half worn) on rest of tire except edge opposite the damaged area where edge was very worn. This was not normal wear or abuse as tire was not run flat or anything similar.
