2024 JEEP WAGONEER Complaints

I have taken my vehicle in several times to get it checked out regarding an issue i have been having since the beginning of the year. I have a severe, recurring engine-stalling safety defect. The vehicle has been in the shop in Boerne texas several times. The engine completly dies, requiring a full manual key/button cycle to restart in/out of traffic. It cuts the power steering and forces the vehicle into park, these are safety issues since at times i sit in traffic for two hours or when i have my newborn grandson traveling with me when i have to travel out of city.

Within less than 24 hours of picking the vehicle up from the thermostat repair on XXX6, it began shutting off on its own and losing engine RPM, including while being driven on the freeway and while stopped at a red light. It shut off completely on its own two times in the first 24 hours back in my possession, with no warning that the vehicle was about to lose power. Losing power on the freeway risks a sudden loss of motive power at highway speed and a high-speed collision, and shutting off at a red light risks being unable to move out of an intersection or accelerate away from a hazard, with a heightened risk of being struck. During these failures the vehicle displayed a battery warning code and, separately, a "service transmission" warning; both appeared and then cleared. These symptoms first appeared on XXX, within hours of the vehicle being returned from the prior repair. The failures have not yet been reproduced by a service center; the vehicle is scheduled to return to the place of purchase, Grogans Town Dodge Jeep Ram on XXX for diagnosis, and the same vehicle was in this dealership's service department of another dealership 2 hours from our home because thats where we were when the thermomstat issue occured on XXX for the separate cooling-system failure. (For context only: I have since learned that 2024 Jeep Wagoneers have been reported to have a battery/electrical drain issue that can cause the vehicle to shut off.) The engine cooling system failed while my husband and I were driving on the freeway at night: the thermostat stuck closed and cut off coolant flow to the engine, causing it to overheat and become unsafe to continue driving. This occurred at approximately 10:00 PM on XXX roughly two hours from home over a holiday weekend, with two occupants in the vehicle. The vehicle had to be towed, but it took nearly four hours to get a tow truck, leaving us stranded on the freeway at night; because we were stranded so far from home, my [XXX] father had to drive two hours to reach us at 10:00 PM and then drive us two hours home, arriving around 1:00 AM, which put an elderly driver on the road late at night and created further risk. There was first a low oil pressure code and the engine was revving without the gas being pressed. Then that code went away and the engine overheating code came on along with an occasional battery code. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired by Bud's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram between XXX and XXX the dealership confirmed the stuck thermostat and coolant cut-off and replaced the thermostat. The vehicle is available for inspection on request. No manufacturer, police, or insurance inspection has taken place to date. Mileage at time of failure: approximately 78,000. VIN: [XXX]. Vehicle shut down 4 times in traffic almost causing an accident each time loss of power and steering. This all occurred in 1 day.

2024 Wagoneer was shifting weird, throwing itself in parking mode. Shutting off and making you stop while driving to shift in desired gear. Throwing itself in park going down the highway and about had us in a head on collision. Motor has loss of lower and overheating. Multiple misfires on multiple cylinders on all 3 occasions when returned to the dealership. Unable to fix on multiple attempts. Car is still in dealership garage awaiting to be repaired.

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH on the interstate, the vehicle stalled. While the contact’s husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shut down, and the driver was able to coast off the roadway. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The check engine warning light turned on and off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the failure was caused by the auxiliary battery. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The dealer stated that the failure was caused by the heat. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

The engine shuts off unexpectedly when the automatic start stop system engages. At the same time the engine shuts off, the power steering warning light illuminates and steering assist is lost. The vehicle must be restarted to regain power steering and continue driving. This has occurred on multiple occasions, including while the vehicle was slowing to a stop in traffic. The sudden loss of steering assist while the vehicle is in motion presents an immediate safety risk to the driver, passengers, and surrounding traffic. This appears to be a widespread issue. Other 2024 Jeep Wagoneer owners have reported the same combination of symptoms, sudden stalling paired with power steering warning lights, in complaints already on file with NHTSA. Suspected causes reported by owners and dealers include a failing 12V or auxiliary battery, a Powertrain Control Module fault, and a Power Distribution Center or wiring fault.

On at least 6-8 occasions car engine has shut off and car is automatically placed in emergency brake. This then requires you to place car in park, then restart vehicle. This happens while driving on interstate and when car slows down for traffic car engine without warning, will shut off, car will then automatically turn on emergency brake forcing sudden stop in interstate hwy traffic. Very dangerous as you have to place car in Park and restart engine. Cars behind you are now slamming on brakes to avoid rear end collision. This has also occurred while sitting at traffic light when again car engine shuts off and has to be placed in park to restart. There is no warning, no warning lights, no check engine after incident occurs and according to dealership no engine codes recorded due to incident. I have left car at dealership on several occasion for several days. I believe it was replicated at dealership but again it registers no codes in engine computer to help resolve issue. When a car traveling down the interstate suddenly shuts down it is extremely dangerous placing my car and family at risk as well as any traveling behind us. Dealership has not been able to resolve issue. They can update software and the car will go several weeks without issue then suddenly you are back to engine shut down again I am second owner of 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S II Carbine. Purchased at GMC dealership. At time of purchase dealership provided maintenance records which showed no issues of engine failure. Unfortunately Jeep is not going to document this issue and does not appear to have a solution. This is an extreme safety concern

The contact stated that while driving on a busy highway at an undisclosed speed with the contact's two minor children seated in the rear seat, the "Shift To Park" warning message was displayed on the instrument panel, and the engine stalled. In addition, the contact stated that the gear selector was stuck. After several attempts, the vehicle restarted and was driven to the residence. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. A dealer was made aware of the failure, and the vehicle was scheduled to be towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing the following day. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 27,800.

Immediately after taking delivery of this brand-new 2024 Jeep Wagoneer L, a severe and violent mechanical vibration was detected while driving at highway speeds. When the vehicle reaches 70 mph and above, the steering wheel shakes aggressively in the driver's hands, and the entire vehicle chassis vibrates violently. This severe shaking impacts vehicle tracking, makes it difficult to maintain steady steering control at cruising speeds, and creates an immediate road safety hazard for the occupants and surrounding traffic. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate at normal highway speeds.
