  • 2025 KIA K4
    - Lakeville, MN

Location: Intersection of [XXX] and [XXX] Lakeville, MN Date/Time: [XXX], at approximately [XXX] Vehicle: 2025 Kia K4 (911 call placed at 10:08 am) On [XXX], while traveling toward the roundabout at [XXX] and [XXX], my vehicle experienced a sudden and violent unintended acceleration. Despite having my foot completely off the gas pedal, the engine began to accelerate the vehicle rapidly on its own. I immediately attempted to regain control by pumping the brake pedal repeatedly with significant force. These efforts had no effect; the vehicle continued to accelerate faster and faster. As the speed increased, the vehicle began to swerve, and I realized I was losing control while rapidly closing the distance between myself, the roundabout, and the vehicles ahead of me. Fortunately, the right lane was clear. Because the vehicle was already veering in that direction and the brakes were failing to slow the car, I made a split-second decision to steer into a large snowbank to avoid a high-speed rear-end collision. The force of the impact with the snowbank was substantial, resulting in the front body panel and a lower front component being torn off the vehicle. The Lakeville Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene and were required to dig the vehicle out of the snow pile. I have attached the official police report to this statement. Had I not maintained a safe following distance or made the decision to steer off the road, the result would have been a catastrophic multi-vehicle collision. • 2020 KIA OPTIMA
    - Murrieta , CA

Immediately after getting Kia's latest recall "Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign" software update, my transmission began to Hard-Shift between neutral and 1st gear, and when slowing down, from a gear to a neutral position with the transmission. The car has lunged a few times when going from neutral to 1st gear position--concerning. This is most noticeable when car is cold, but is still always noticeable. Stop-and-go traffic it's also most noticeable. I have notified local dealership by phone message and email but have not heard back in 2 weeks.

My Seltos transmission heats up to such an extent that I have to get out of the car and park it for 45 minutes to have it cooled down. Has only 25k miles in it. Took to the dealership and they say nothing is wrong. Numerous reported issues of the same kind on Kia message boards regarding the same issue. Something to do with the dual clutch system and start/stop function

The low oil pressure, the battery, and the check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to Valvoline, where the contact was informed that the engine was misfiring. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving after the service appointment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the spark plugs and other unknown parts were replaced. The dealer then test-drove the vehicle; however the failure persisted. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to an unknown engine recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the cost of the repair would not be covered unless the failure was related to the engine rod. • 2019 KIA SORENTO
    - Franklin, PA

At 79,000, the engine started running very rough. I took it to the dealer. It’s got a cylinder that won’t fire. I have an extended warranty( big $!) but I’m getting the runaround from Kia. It’s been almost 3 weeks. They’re dragging their feet because they know these Theta II engines are JUNK! I’ve maintained my own vehicles my entire adult life, and I don’t drive crazy either. It also had a knock sensor recall, which most likely kept this issue from being a recall
