2013 KIA OPTIMA- Williamstown, OH
While driving 55 mph down the road the window trim flew off of the rear driver side window and a week later the other side flew off hitting the car behind us. Not a very safe thing to be happening while driving.

2021 KIA SELTOS- Sewickley, PA
I have been trying to have my 2021 Kia Seltos serviced to complete the Safety Recall # 25V099. This is for the Piston-ring Noise Sensing System and oil ring check. I have had the vehicle at the dealer twice without it being completed. This is in regards to Jim Shorkey Kia Wexford, 10785 Perry Hwy, Wexford PA 15090. 724-741-1197. Prior to receiving the recall notice I asked the service rep at the local dealer who said that "Consumption of one quart of oil every 1000 miles is normal." The car had probably 20K miles on it, it now has 30K. Shortly after I received the recall notice from Kia (dated April 4, 2025) I called Shorkey Kia to schedule the recall service. It was scheduled for May 7, 2025. I dropped the car off the evening before (5/6/2025). Later in the day of May 7 I realized that I had a voicemail from Shorkey Kia from two days earlier, on May 5, stating that the appointment was cancelled due to the recall process being halted. The process was to take two days, one day for the car to sit and the service the second day. I was told that they needed to figure out a quicker resolution so that the service performed was not as extensive. I picked the car up that evening and was further told by the service rep that too many engines were failing. I called Kia Customer Service who confirmed that the process was on hold. On 5/20/2025 I received a call from Kia Customer Care advising that the recall process has been fixed and that I should call to reschedule the service. They provided a Case # of [XXX] I called and made an appointment for May 29, 2025. I dropped the car off the evening before at around 6:30PM (May 28, 2025). It was a cool, rainy evening. The next afternoon I received a call from Shorkey Kia Service advising that they, yet again, could not perform the recall service. I was told that the coolant temperature was reading 82 degrees so it couldn't be tested. I picked the car up and haven't heard from them since. 2021 KIA SOUL- Shawnee, KS
Recall by KIA for engine malfunction--website/nhtsa shows multiple recalls, issues & motor replacements due to Piston Oil Ring issues that could result in stall or fire; had 2 recall dealer inspections citing need for camshift replacement, & SC336 Piston Oil Ring failure. Engine has used excessive oil (now 3+ qts in 3000 miles) which nhtsa lists as issue with the engines--recall was issued for this engine 2/17/2025, letters sent 4/4/2025 which I never received, oil consumption occurred over years/months. Techs at dealer told me operation of the engine "can be detrimental". KIA refuses to replace or repair the engine--this has been noted by nhtsa. Independent testing (2) indicates camshaft and crankshaft sensors are not in sync. I am fearful to operate the vehicle due to danger of stalling and/or fire, which could cause crash or injury. I ask for NHTSA to enforce their directions to KIA and replace the engine.

2019 KIA SORENTO- Elmhurst, IL
I'm writing to formally report a serious and potentially dangerous issue with my 2019 Kia Sorento (VIN: [XXX] ), which is experiencing excessive engine oil consumption. This problem began around 55,000 miles and has progressively worsened to the point where I must either frequently top off oil between scheduled changes or get oil changes well ahead of schedule. Despite having two documented dealership oil changes within approximately 2,000 miles and three months, I have received no support from Kia or my extended warranty provider (JM&A). Kia Customer Care has acknowledged the issue, but refuses to inspect, test, or address it unless the KSDS sensor is triggered or the engine seizes — essentially requiring catastrophic engine failure before they will consider any action. JM&A has similarly denied coverage, stating that oil consumption is excluded under their warranty plan. This approach is not only unreasonable — it is dangerous. Running low on oil can lead to sudden engine failure while driving, posing a real risk to both my safety and that of others on the road. I have not been offered any proactive oil consumption test or preventive service by Kia, despite repeated concerns. I am aware that excessive oil consumption is the subject of class action litigation involving Kia vehicles, and that this may reflect a broader pattern of engine-related defects. I believe this situation deserves formal investigation and review, potentially qualifying for recall consideration or an expanded service campaign. I drive daily in the Chicago suburbs with my [XXX] and [XXX] children, which makes the risk of sudden engine failure especially concerning. I am more than willing to provide documentation, including oil consumption logs, service records, and communications with both Kia and JM&A. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter for possible investigation into its safety implications and potential systemic nature. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.

2013 KIA OPTIMA- Zimmerman , MN
My Kia has the part number that was recalled for the ABS module. But Kia said it’s not included in the recall because of my vin. Appeared 2 months ago. All lights on & potential risk of fire according to the brake fluid leaking. So I have to park outside. Kia inspected & said it was ABS module that needed replacement. For $2,600. Which I can’t afford. I Have already spent $500 for the other problems they said it was at first. But it didn’t fix the problem. Now I am having to borrow cars to get to work.
