2015 KIA OPTIMA- Griffin, GA
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Optima. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle shut off with several unknown warning lights illuminated. An independent mechanic spotted the contact on the side of the road and helped. The mechanic was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle immediately shut off with a loud clanking sound and a burning odor coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was later towed to the residence. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V331000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was driven to the residence and a mobile mechanic inspected the vehicle. The contact was informed that the VIN was under recall and was advised to take the vehicle to a dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and was diagnosed with engine failure, which voided the recall due to the diagnostic test. The contact was offered a buyback which was refused. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty and that any repairs would be an out-of-pocket expense. The contact drove the vehicle back to the residence despite the failure and the vehicle repeatedly shutting off. The contact called another mobile mechanic and was informed about a recall and related the failure to the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

2017 KIA SEDONA- South Charleston, OH
I own a 2017 Kia Sedona with approximately 120,000. It has the 3.3L V6 engine. While driving, the vehicle lost power and would not run. The lights and the dashboard would come on, but it would not turn over to start. I took it to a mechanic, and they confirmed that the engine had seized up and would have to be replaced costing $11,000. I then had it towed to the dealership that I purchased the vehicle. They also confirmed that the engine had seized up and would have to be replaced at a significant cost. I had no warning that anything was wrong with my vehicle as the check engine light did not come on. I did hear a slight knocking the day before this happened. My husband checked the oil and added a quart of oil, which was unusual since we had not seen any oil on our driveway. I did have a warranty, but it lapsed due to being over the mileage cap by 2,000 miles.

2017 KIA SPORTAGE- Katy, TX
I bought a 2017 Kia Sportage with a salvage title at auction on [XXX] for my wife, [XXX]. It had 57,463 miles on the engine. Before it reached the 60,000-mile warranty limit (only for non-salvage title vehicles), it showed error code P1326 and went into limp mode which makes the vehicle drive at a very slow speed to avoid damage to the engine. For an explanation of limp mode, go to the web address below: [XXX] Despite my wife's Kia Sportage NOT being under warranty, the vehicle's electronic system takes control and slows the vehicle making it unsafe for continued driving. Despite the KIA manufacturer no longer having a financial interest in a non-warranted vehicle, their electronics system prevents me from managing or using my vehicle. The dealerships will not do any repairs or bypass the control system and their only solution is an expensive engine replacement. 1. The Kia displays error code P1326 which is the subject of numerous complaints to dealers throughout the U.S. The problem is the KIA goes into limp mode with no remedy. Available for inspection. [XXX] While the lawsuit above refers to Ford products, the statement regarding loss of power significantly increasing the risk of a crash does pertain to my complaint against the KIA limp mode. 2. Risk - See link above 3.Archer Kia at 11614 SW Frwy. in Houston has confirmed and diagnosed the problem on 8-15-2024. 4. See #3 above. 5. The error code P1326 is the warning. Despite the KIA manufacturer no longer having a financial interest in a non-warranted vehicle, their electronics system prevents me from managing or using my vehicle. The dealerships will not do any repairs or bypass the control system and their only solution is an expensive engine replacement. 2014 KIA SORENTO- Toney, AL
The check engine light keeps going on and off and I took it to go get looked at and they said I had a faulty Cadillac converter. I looked it up and it said that they had recalls on 2014 Kia sorentos for that but when I check on the website it says I have no open recalls and I'm trying to figure out why my car is not on that list because this has been an ongoing problem and now it's so bad I'm starting to smell exhaust in the car. I'm really not sure on the date that it started I just know it's been awhile. Can you please help me.

2020 KIA OPTIMA- Shelbyville, IN
I got a CEL (code P1326), three different times. Each time has been after a hard rain or a car wash. I have had to pay to have the knock sensor replaced each time, twice by a mechanic and once by a Kia dealership. There’s a recall for this issue on model years older than my 2020. I was told that Kia is aware but that there aren’t enough people having the issue to warrant them to investigate.

2024 KIA TELLURIDE- Union, MO
As I was driving to work my sunroof exploded. I was miles away from an overpass and nothing flew out of any vehicle around me. It just randomly exploded. I could hear glass shuffling around on my sunshade. Thankfully the sunshade wasn't open or else I would have been covered in glass. Took it to a dealership and they told me it wasn't covered under any warranty and to tell my insurance it was "due to weather and wind causing the sunroof to bend and flex".

2015 KIA OPTIMA- LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO
on 1/18/2025 my teenage daughter was driving down the highway at a speed of around 70 MPH when she heard a loud boom and her sunroof front panel blew broken glass into her car and all over her. She did not run into anything or see any items fly in the air at her car

2022 KIA NIRO EV- Steven Ranch, CA
I bought my 2022 Kia Niro EV new in 2022, and around 40,000 miles, I had a problem with the reduction motor so I replaced it, shortly after that I had a problem with the wheel so I replaced a part called the axle, and shortly after that, the other wheel had the same problem so I replaced the same part, and the Kia employee said that this part only breaks if there is a strong impact (traffic accident) so it's strange. All of this happened in less than 2 years but I had it covered under warranty so I got it fixed, but now the reduction motor problem that I had originally replaced has happened again and they are demanding $5,800 to repair it since it's out of warranty. I think this is unfair, and this is the first time I've had a car with this many problems in less than 3 years.

2017 KIA SORENTO- Wausaukee, WI
While on vacation the oil light came on (just had it in for maintenance, told them it was using oil but no sign of leak, they told me it was fine to go on vacation, that there was no problem) we put oil in but then engine light came on. It was Saturday night and warranty co. had no emergency phone number. Got to Hotel, Monday was towed to Repair Shop was told after they inspected the car that we had to replace the engine. Warranty Co. replaced the engine a MONTH later with a used engine. My car was not on the recall and should of been. KIA did not answer any calls or emails. Also I am still paying for it. I had a lo of problems with the warranty co, luckily I kept up with the maintenance on it, because if I did not they would never replaced the engine, but now I have to worry about it happening again. Also my car is in Arkansas and we live in Wisconsin.

2024 KIA EV9- San Antonio, TX
The manufacturer failed to align the vehicle at all prior to leaving the factory. The failed parts all have to do with the alignment. My safety was put at risk because of the persistent pull while driving, shaking while driving, instability at high speeds, and the fact that the tires are now damaged due to the alignment issues. The dealer kept the vehicle for over 60 days, and was able to rectify part of the alignment issues, but there are still areas that they are unable or unwilling to fix, as shown to them by the alignment machine. The vehicle has been inspect by a certified Kia dealership, as it was there for over 60 days. The issues were the shaking of the vehicle, the pull, the instability at high speeds, and the damage caused to the tires. It appear upon first taking the car home after purchase. I was forced to pick up my vehicle because Kia was unwilling to fix the vehicle, and they threatened me with storage fees.
