The contact owns a 2019 RAM 1500. The contact stated that when his spouse started the vehicle during cold weather conditions, the engine was turned on, revved high, and the gear shift from park (P) to drive (D) inadvertently without the brake pedal being depressed. The contact stated that the vehicle jolted off and crashed into the door of a business. The contact's spouse sustained a head injury but did not receive medical attention. A police report was filed, but the info was not readily available at this time. The vehicle was taken to the spouse's residence and parked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

My 2019 ram 1500 started showing an intermittent warning light on the dash that said check check trailer brake, although I was not towing anything. I continued on my 20 minute commute and parked the vehicle to which point I noticed smoke towards the back of the vehicle. I inspected to see a small fire that apparently had started at the trailer tow module that had shorted and ignited the insulation and surrounding plastics. I was able to extinguish the fire with minimal damage to the truck, mainly the plastic paneling and the wiring and associated components were damaged. I'm reporting this because a vehicle fire is a significant safety concern and I'm probably not the first to have had this happen. I have made no aftermarket adjustments to my towing system and I've only owned the vehicle approximately over a year. The vehicle has about 83,000 miles on it currently.

The truck has a mild hybird 48 volt system that will cause the engine to stall in traffic.

For about many months now I have had what sounds like a Exhaust Manifold leak. I have been trying to learn more about it. I have a 19' Ram 1500 Laramie and I have found that this is an incredibly common issue amongst Ram owners with a 5.7L V8 Engine. You tube has thousands of videos about how to repair, there are hundreds of message boards online, and even my mechanic said to me "Oh yeah I've fixed hundreds of this issue on Rams". When I remote start my truck I have to roll the windows down when I get in to let the exhaust smell out of my truck. I would assume that the air intake for the cabin climate control is pulling in the fumes from the engine bay. It concerns me to leave my truck run too long while not moving for fear of passing out. When I took it to an exhaust shop he said he could temporarily remedy this with some liquid gasket maker but he was right, it only lasted about 2 weeks. THIS NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL. I checked with my dealer service dept and he quoted me "at least $1,600" I can buy an entirely new aftermarket system for less than that. I am about 20k miles out of my warranty. This needs addressed.

The dash cover has separated from the main dash component. RAM cannot confirm this will not impede the proper deployment of safety airbags in case of a head on collision. This is more than a visual issue, it's a safety issue. Looking online at RAM forums, this has been a common issue with the dash for many RAM owners.

On multiple occasions, the vehicle has unexpectedly shifted out of Drive into Neutral while driving. When this occurs, a warning chime dings and a message on display directs me to “Shift to Park”. The vehicle immediately loses forward power (because it has shifted itself to Neutral), until I come to a complete stop, shift to Park, and then shift back to Drive to move forward. Usually the engine stays on, but on at least one occasion the engine turned off and I had to restart. This has happened at least five times total, including three times within the past month. The events have occurred while decelerating to a stop, braking but not stopping, and accelerating from a slow down. Each time, I experienced a sudden and unexpected loss of propulsion, requiring me to stop the vehicle in traffic, shift fully into Park, and then reselect Drive before the vehicle would move again. These incidents have occurred in active traffic situations and have placed me and others at risk of a collision due to the sudden loss of power (SEE DETAILS IN PDF). I previously brought the vehicle to a dealer for this issue after it had just occurred (~1 year ago, before the recent increase in frequency); however, the dealer stated that the vehicle did not throw a code, or no code was stored. They could not replicate the problem and no repair was made. There are at least 55 NHTSA complaints filed that appear the same as my issue; none appear to have been resolved by dealers or RAM. This appears to be a systemic safety defect involving the powertrain and electronic shifting system. The unexpected loss of propulsion in traffic presents a serious risk of injury or death. I am submitting this complaint due to the ongoing and unresolved safety concern. I am scared to drive my family in my vehicle until it is known to be fixed.

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 oil filter housing assembly (found on 2011-2023+ Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler) is a common failure point where the plastic housing cracks, causing oil leaks, coolant contamination, and overheating. Replacing it with an upgraded aluminum unit is highly recommended for durability. The assembly is located under the intake manifold and requires removing the upper intake plenum and several components for access. Key Details for Replacement Common Failure: The OEM plastic housing becomes brittle from heat cycles, leading to oil/coolant leaks in the engine's valley. Upgrade Option: Upgrading to an all-aluminum housing prevents future cracks. Required Parts: New assembly (e.g., Dorman 926-959, 926-876 or Mopar 68596317AB/68596318AB), new O-rings (should be included), and new intake manifold gaskets. Process: Requires removing the upper intake manifold, removing the old housing (held by 5 E8 Torx screws), and cleaning the engine valley before installing the new unit.

1The roller valve on the gas tank 2Roller valve is stuck in the closed position, causing a hazard when trying to refill gas tank. 3Dealer wrote up a repair sheet, cost of $1600.00+ . I was told they had other trucks in with the same problem and only way to fix is replacing the whole gas tank. 4No it has not been inspected, all my info is from employees that write up the work order.. 5Have been having this problem since August 2025. 6 I feel this is a safety item that should be covered by the manufacturer just like an air bag or any other vehicle safety device. It is a very poor design in its self that makes it a hazard.
