2019 RAM 1500 Complaints

I started smelling exhaust fumes in the cab of my truck. I began inspecting the engine compartment and heard a noise from the left side of the engine. I also noticed reduced power from the engine and a puffing sound during hard acceleration. I researched online and found numerous complaints for the RAM 1500 truck with the 5.7 liter hemi engine manifold exhaust bolt shearing and manifold cracking. I took my vehicle to a RAM dealership. The left (driver) exhaust manifold was replaced due to a sheared center bolt and a cracked exhaust manifold. The crack went almost completely around the center of the part. Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 09-011-22, dated September 3, 2022 was issued for this defect for 2019-2021 RAMs with 5.7 liter engine. The dealership bill was $833.06, including $260 ($217 MSRP on MOPAR.com) for the kit and $525 for labor (2.5 hours per the service representative, so $210 per hour). This known defect is a serious safety issue due to exhaust fumes entering the vehicle cab and being breathed by the driver. A recall should be issued for this defect.

Upon acceleration from stop, and even while driving at speeds between 30 & 40 mph, the vehicle shifts from Drive to Neutral and displays "Shift to P..." on the display. This occurs repeatedly. You have to stop the vehicle and shift to Park then back to Drive. But it keeps occurring, over and over. It first occurred when I pulled out into traffic, the vehicle shifted to N and I had absolutely NO EXCELLERATION with oncoming traffic behind me. I immediately put on my hazard lights and steered towards the curb to attempt to get out of the way... traffic behind me was able to slow and avoid collision but this is an extremely dangerous issue.

I was about to make a left turn and the power steering stopped working in mid turn. Luckily there were no cars in the path of travel or behind me because it was so sudden. And I didn’t have full control of my truck.

Truck on random occasions won’t lock or unlock using the inside door panel buttons. I also couldn’t unlock using the fob key. Hot day and person inside was not able to get out. I had to use the metal key inside the remote to unlock and open the doors. This has happened at least 4 times in pass 3 months. I replaced fob with fresh and pre tested button battery and also replaced the trucks main battery and problem still happens. I’m afraid a day may come and someone gets trapped inside truck on a hot day.

Driving my [XXX] old son to daycare [XXX] and my power steering quit working. this is very dangerous and I fear for our lives. Was having an issues with trying fuel my truck up. I was only able to fuel up 2 gallons or less at a time before having fuel backing up into the fuel tube shutting of fuel flow. I took my vehicle to Dodge to have it looked at and it was determined that I have a bad fuel tank. The dealership went on to say that it was a faulty rollover valve that went bad. This valve is molded into the gas tank so it can not be replaced by itself. Service advisor informed me that dodge knows of the issue and had to redesigned the fuel tank to fix the issue. I was quoted $1700 to replace the tank.

“Service air bag” warning illuminated. Took car to dealer for service. Told by service agent that light was on due to low battery voltage. Battery 6 months old. Vehicle fine electrically otherwise. Doubting the reason. Haven’t gotten vehicle back yet, thinking warning light not cleared.

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to make a turn, the steering wheel seized. The contact attempted to turn the steering wheel, but the steering wheel failed to move. The contact veered over to the shoulder where the vehicle remained. The contact called the dealer who confirmed there were no opened recalls associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

On 02/11/2024 my boyfriend and I were involved in a rear-end collision. The driver that hit us was going 60 to 70 mph at the time of impact while we were sitting at a traffic light. The airbags did not deploy and now my boyfriend and I have sustained severe injuries due to the accident.

My [XXX] son was driving his Ram 1500 on a country road and the he started hearing a clunking noise and his tires locked up. Luckily he is experienced in driving bigger vehicles and was able to control the vehicle to not wreck it. We had his vehicle towed to repair shop. Less than a day later the repair shop called to tell us that the vehicles transmission needed to be replaced as well as the rear differential. He said the rear diff issue is what caused the transmission to go out. Ive contacted multiple dealerships in hopes to have this replaced for free of charge since Ram had a recall with this same issue. But since the trucks Vin number isn't under the recall they denied the claim. I feel its unfair of a owner of a vehicle that literally has the same issues as a recall within the same year of the recall but can't get compensation for the repairs.
