2023 VOLVO XC60- Bellevue, WA
Yesterday, while driving on highway, I received a tire pressure warning for all four tires. I filled all tires to the recommended 35psi. The warning went away. Today, after I parked my vehicle, I saw a “parking brake service required” message on my dash. The “park” indicator on my dash started flashing. Now, I’m worried about a brake failure. I only mentioned the tire pressure warning bc I’ve never had multiple error messages like this before.

While in transit, the passenger door periodically unlatches on its own. There is a safeguard that prevents the door from completely swinging open when this happens. This problem has not been inspected by a professional. The warning light appears after the door unlatches while in motion. Because I never have a passenger, I am not able to immediately close the door. The last time this happened was at 65 mph on [XXX]. This problem has existed for years. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The cause is unknown, and timing is unpredictable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On 7/5 car's cameras (all of them) went off again when and Camera Not Available message displayed on console. We had already gotten the NHTSA required software upgrade on 7/2 that was to correct this problem. Once the vehicle was turned off - and started again -- the cameras worked. But it's anyone's guess how long that will last. I called the dealership and they reported that "about two other vehicles" that had the recall and had their software upgraded also came back in with the same complaint. There's no remedy yet from Volvo. Just wanted you to know their "fix" in response to you is not really a "fix."

The check engine light appeared on my 2018 Volvo s60. After taking the car to 2 Independent mechanics and the dealer, it was diagnosed as an Engine Control Module (ECM) failure. My 2018 Volvo s60 has ONLY 44,200 miles. The dealer stated that they "haven't seen this failure in cars with such low mileage. Usually, cars have 125,000+ miles if/when the ECM fails". The dealer and an Independent mechanic both stated that the brakes, steering, starter, thermostat, etc., could fail at any time. This could put my family, and other families on the road, at risk. Volvo refused to pay for the repairs.

In the past 3 months, my 2022 Volvo XC40 has experienced four complete power failures, each requiring a tow. 1?? The first incident occurred while waiting at a left-turn lane; the car stalled and would not restart. 2?? The second incident happened at a car wash where the vehicle died mid-process and could not be restarted. 3?? The third incident was the most dangerous—while driving at 50–60?mph on a single-lane road, the car suddenly lost all power. I was fortunate to find a safe spot to pull over. 4?? The fourth incident occurred on July 4th while I was visiting a town 2.5?hours from home. After stopping for gas, the car wouldn’t restart and had to be towed to a local Volvo dealership. These repeated failures create a serious safety risk, especially for drivers like myself who use highways regularly. Sudden loss of power at high speeds could result in a collision or leave occupants stranded in dangerous situations.

2008 VOLVO S80- BARTLETT, IL
I bought this car from elderly people. After I bought it and drove, there's lots of thing not according to safety standard? I asked them (seller) but they don't have any answer, due to their age. So, since last Tuesday, I am driving as it is. Hardly I put 250 miles so far. There's belt sign, Air bag sign, and Low tire air sign. All signs are showing in my dashboard and stays as long as car is on. So, I am scared to death to drive this car, car itself in a mint condition and it's got only 131K miles. Still there's is more life left on this car. I am also senior citizen and retired person. So, I need help to get these fixed asap please.

2021 VOLVO XC40- Gaithersburg, MD
On July 1st 2025, while slowly reversing out of my driveway at approximately 3–4 mph, the vehicle’s collision detection system errantly detected an imminent collision. Despite there being no obstacles, vehicles, pedestrians, or objects in the vehicle’s path, the system abruptly engaged the automatic emergency braking (AEB). This sudden and forceful braking caused me to experience whiplash due to the unexpected jolt. There was no prior warning or indication of a malfunction, nor any alert from the vehicle indicating why the braking occurred. After exiting the vehicle and inspecting the surroundings, I confirmed there were no obstructions behind or near the vehicle. This appears to be a false positive detection by the vehicle’s collision avoidance system. This incident raises serious concerns about the reliability and safety of the AEB system, particularly in low-speed reversing situations. An erroneous activation of this kind can result in injury to the occupants, potential rear-end collisions (in other traffic scenarios), and may also contribute to driver mistrust of critical safety features.

URGENT SAFETY CONCERN: Intermittent Total Loss of All Vehicle Audio Alerts This issue has occurred multiple times and poses a serious safety concern. While driving, the vehicle intermittently experiences a complete loss of all audio output. This includes: •Turn signal indicators •Hazard warning sounds •Blind spot monitoring alerts •Park distance control tones •Navigation guidance •Audio system playback (music, radio, etc.) •All other safety-related audio warnings and notifications The vehicle becomes completely silent, eliminating essential auditory cues that are critical for safe operation. Temporary Workaround (While Driving): The only way to restore functionality is by performing a forced reboot of the infotainment system. This requires the driver to press and hold the home button until the system power cycles—a distracting and unsafe action that must be done while the vehicle is in motion. Please note that while rebooting does not disable the vehicle’s ability to drive, it temporarily resets multiple core systems, including the climate control and infotainment interface. This creates a significant distraction and impairs the driver’s ability to safely monitor vehicle status and surroundings. This malfunction poses a significant safety risk and must be investigated immediately.

The front driver or passenger doors do not open 100% of the time when pulling on the handle. This behavior happens after the car has been unlocked. It happens when pulling at an angle that is slightly up and quick in motion. If you pull directly out, away from the car body, and slower it will open up without issue. I was able to reproduce the behavior at the dealership and was informed that Volvo doors don't open when you do that quick of a motion. Based off that response I do not believe the dealership inspected the door mechanism but instead left it as an accepted issue with the car. I fear if there were a situation when I needed to get into the car immediately it may require multiple pulls on the door handle to work properly.
