Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2017 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Edge and Fusion vehicles

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Edge and Fusion vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 6,026 units affected.

Description:: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Edge and Fusion vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.
Consequeces:: If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Ford or Lincoln will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters, free of charge. The recall began August 25, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S16.

2017 FORD EDGE Complaints
Coolant is leaking into the combustion chamber. Car can stall causing a major issue depending on speed and location. Yes, my mechanic has confirmed. Not inspected yet by manufacturer. Yes, check engine light has come on in the past and had the spark plugs replaced twice. This time they saw coolant in the combustion chamber.;
2017 FORD FUSION HYBRID Complaints
Backup camera lens is defective and has UV damage / hazing. Makes reversing extremely difficult and dangerous as the lens is not giving a good image output to the infotainment screen to the point it is difficult to identify anything (cars, pedestrians, etc). Ford has a known recall on the fusions for 2013-2016, and have excluded 2017-2020 model years even though hardware is the same. I have ordered and am replacing the backup camera myself. Seems to be a common/known issue. Hoping to log a complaint and have Ford reimburse me for the trouble.;
2017 LINCOLN MKZ Complaints
I purchased a 2017 Lincoln MKZ and began experiencing serious engine problems, including repeated overheating and an engine misfire. The vehicle developed a check-engine light and a P0301 misfire code. I was advised by a repair shop that the vehicle has a serious engine problem and that the engine needs to be replaced. I am concerned that the overheating and engine problems could cause the vehicle to suddenly lose power or suffer complete engine failure while I am driving. If the engine loses power unexpectedly while I am traveling in traffic, I could be unable to accelerate or safely move out of the way of other vehicles, creating a serious safety hazard for me, my passengers, and other motorists. I contacted Lincoln regarding these problems and asked the manufacturer for assistance, but Lincoln refused to provide assistance with the issue. I am now left responsible for addressing a potentially serious engine and safety problem. I am requesting that NHTSA document and investigate these engine, misfire, and overheating problems to determine whether they may be related to a safety defect affecting other 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles.;
