Upon using with my infant the chest clip fell apart. Making it unsafe to use and posing a choking hazard as all the little pieces and magnetic pieces that fell out. The seat also does not securely stay in place in the base. I reached out to the company and they did not seem to care that this chest clip is unsafe and the seat in general. I had maybe used clip1-3 times my daughter only used seat a trip or so I can’t recall if it was our initial trip with seat or if it was one or two in. It was right away though like day or so into using the seat. We initially thought if we just got a regular clip from manufacturer could use seat but realized once we got that and tried to put it together on it that there was also a base issue. So seat has not been used again. Want to make sure that other parents don’t end up with this seat and safety issue. The clip fell apart upon getting child out of seat. If this would have happened in crash or when I wasn’t right there to gather pieces away from my infant this could have been deadly car seat issue. The date is approx that this happened as I would have to dig to find actual date. I didn’t realize I could file complaint until today when I saw a news article on recalls for a child safety seat. This is a known safety issue with this seat many people shared this happened to them as well. So it is very alarming this seat and other brands are making this magnetic chest clips the new standard. Please look into these! Our babies deserve safe car seats.

During normal use while buckling my child into the Chicco Fit360 car seat, the magnetic chest clip fell apart. The housing separated and exposed the internal springs and other components. There is no visible cracking or broken plastic, and the car seat has never been involved in a crash or otherwise misused. Because the chest clip is a safety-critical component of the child restraint system, I stopped using the car seat after the failure. I contacted Chicco through its customer-service website on August 7, 2026 to report the failure and request assistance. I provided photos and the car seat's identifying information. As of August 18, 2026, I have not received a response from Chicco.

The camlock cover broke with no trauma to the car seat (not dropped, checked on an airplane, in a crash etc). When the RF [XXX] old pulled the harness adjuster strap towards him, it depressed the camlock cover and released the straps. He was able to get out of the straps while the vehicle was moving. The car was pulled over safely asap, he was reharnessed, and the adjuster strap was tucked out of his reach. The manufacturer was contacted and they are sending me a replacement seat. This is the second chest clip I’ve had on the seat (replaced by chicco November of 2024) where the buttons that release the the magnetic chest clip get stuck when pressed. This stops it from being able to be clipped back together until some time passes and it slowly goes back the the original postion in order to re-engage. Then today I went to unbuckle my child from the seat and the chest clip popped open without me pressing the buttons. I have contacted chicco for a replacement.

After extended use, the magnetic chest clip can pop open without depressing the buttons to unlatch the clip. Slight pressure behind the clip, where the child’s chest rests can pop open the chest clip. This means, if an accident were to occur, the child will fail to be restrained and can fly out of the seat buckle.

I buckled my 2.5 year old daughter into her carseat and secured the magnetic chest clip. It very easily popped back open WITHOUT pressing the buttons. I attempted to get it to securely close several times and with light pressure it opens back up. This is extremely unsafe as it would likely not stay clipped in a crash or a child could very easily open the chest clip. After a quick online search, it appears that several others have had this issue. I just noticed it yesterday but I have no idea how long this has been occuring and, unless checked thoroughly every time, could happen to anyone.

We purchased a Chicco Fit360 car seat approximately two weeks ago. During normal use, we discovered that the magnetic chest clip/latch on the 5-point harness can appear to be connected but is not always mechanically latched. If the two halves of the magnetic chest clip are brought together lightly/loosely, the magnets pull the clip together and it appears closed, but the latch can separate without pressing the release buttons. The issue appears to be with the magnetic chest clip/chest latch portion of the harness system. This creates a safety concern because the chest clip may appear secured when it is not actually locked. If this occurred during driving or a crash, the harness straps may not remain properly positioned on the child’s chest/shoulders, which could reduce the effectiveness of the restraint system and increase the risk of injury or ejection. The clip seems to connect correctly most of the time when clipped deliberately, but it can fail when loosely clipped, which is concerning because a caregiver may reasonably believe the chest clip is secured due to the magnetic connection. The car seat/component is available for inspection upon request. We contacted Chicco customer service and reported the issue. Chicco stated they are sending a replacement magnetic chest clip and indicated that the replacement should fix the issue. Chicco has not physically inspected the seat or the original chest clip at this time. The seat has not been inspected by police, insurance, or any other third party. No crash or injury has occurred. The cause is UNKNOWN, but based on observation, the failure appears to involve the magnetic chest clip giving the appearance of being closed without the mechanical latch fully engaging.

After using the Fit360 car seat for about 1.5 years I noticed that the magnetic chest clip had failed. The clip appears to function as normal, with the two sides seeming to click into place, but they can then just be popped apart without having to push down the "release buttons". My child could have been severely injured if there was an accident and the chest clip was not functioning. The magnetic clip is especially dangerous and scary because it is not immediately apparent there is a problem and I don't know how long the clip was broken for before I noticed it. The small magnet keeps the clip lightly together in what appears to be the fastened position, and how I typically buckle/unbuckle my son I don't handle it in a way that would reveal this issue immediately. I contacted Chicco and they are sending me a replacement clip that is the standard fastening style, not the magnetic clip. I got the impression this is a widespread issue based on online discussions, and also since they asked for no additional information about the broken clip and sent the new one at no cost although I am outside of the warranty period. The magnetic clips should be recalled and replacements sent to everyone unknowingly putting their child in danger every day on the road.
