BRIDGESTONE ALENZA AS ULTRA TIRES Complaints

Brand/Model: Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra Size: 235/60R17 DOT Code: 1W281AAU11925, W281AAU1025, W281AAU14124, W281AAU10525 Purchase Date: July 28, 2025 I am reporting a catastrophic and unpredictable treadwear failure on a set of four (4) Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra tires (80,000-mile warranty / 800 UTQG). Despite professional maintenance, these tires have degraded to a legally bald and unsafe state (2/32") in less than 8,000 total miles. The tires exhibited a sudden "melting" effect. On October 31, 2025 (Odo: 28,330), a third-party inspection verified a safe tread depth of 9/32" with even wear. However, by February 20, 2026, the tires had dropped to 3/32", and by March 20, they reached 2/32". This represents a loss of 7/32" (70% of usable tread) in only ~3,800 miles. This rapid, non-linear degradation creates an emergency safety hazard, as the tires lost wet-weather traction and hydroplaning resistance in less than 30 days between service checks. Maintenance History: The vehicle (2022 Hyundai Tucson) has a documented history of proper care: Professional Alignment: September, 2025 (Insurance-certified). Tread Verification: October 31, 2025 (Confirmed 9/32" and even wear). Rotation Service: February 20, 2026 (Performed at 7,500-mile interval). The failure is global across all four tires, including the non-driven rear axle, indicating a fundamental rubber compound defect. Retailer (Costco)has denied warranty support, citing "rapid wear" as a non-covered issue, despite the tires failing 72,000 miles before their engineered lifespan. This defect leaves the consumer on the road with unsafe, bald tires that failed without warning.

The contact stated that while making a left or right turn, the contact heard an abnormal popping sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the tires had dry rotted and were cracking. In addition, the contact was informed that the failure caused the tires to slip and skid on the road surface while turning left or right. The contact was advised that the tires needed to be replaced. The tires were purchased from Cosco in October 2022. The mileage guarantee for the tires was 80,000. Cosco was contacted and made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that a partial refund would be prorated for the tires. The contact was informed that if the first option was not accepted, the tires could be replaced with a different brand, and the contact would be responsible for the remaining balance after the partial refund. The contact declined both offers. The contact stated that he had been sold defective tires and should be fully refunded. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 80,000, and the tire failure mileage was 40,000.

Four tires purchased June 2022. As of July 2025 with 17,500 miles on the tires there is ozone/weather cracking on the entire tire and the sidewall near the rim is failing with the cord visible on one tire.

235/55R19 Both front tires are showing abnormal rubber chunking or flaking off on the inner and outer tread. To avoid a possible failure or blow out, I replaced the tires with another brand and model. Bridgestone will not honor their warranty on these tires and I feel they are at fault. Online reports of blow-outs are fairly common with these tires.

I purchased four Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra tires (255 / 50R 19 107 W XL front and back) from Costco at 2700 Potomac Mill Circle, Woodbridge, VA on [XXX]. These tires were specifically for a 2009 Range Rover Sport HSE. The odometer reading was 105632 at the time of purchase, and the tires were installed on [XXX]. The present mileage as of today is 118233. However, after a mere 12,000 miles, all four tires are cracked along the bead inside the tire, showing the threads/wire. The tires are all torn in the sidewall at the bead above the inside of the rim edge and are non-repairable. There was no damage to the rim, nor any reason the tire might have been lacerated by the rim. The tire failure appeared to have occurred without provocation, and Costco had just conducted maintenance in April 2024. The tires have an 80,000-mile warranty, so I wonder how all four tires have the same issue on the inside of the tire after only 12,000-mileage has been recorded; it has been only two years. If the tires had failed while driving, this could have been catastrophic for me and my family, which could have ended up in the vehicle losing control and possibly loss of life since all four tires are damaged. The only driving is taking my son to school and driving in the local area for food. I had a tire inspection done with Cosco Tire in April 2024, and Firestone identified this issue during a wheel alignment on all four tires in June 2024. I took the vehicle to NTB and had a mechanic look at it, and the only conclusion they stated was that these were defective tires. This could have been an improper service by Costco, which they said was not there back in April 2024. The only warnings I had were the illuminated lamp of the TPMS, the tire pressure monitoring system, and the low-pressure warning for the tire The vehicle was brought to Costco for two inspections regarding the TPMS, and all the TPMS on the tires were working correctly; they could not determine the cause of the lamp. Brand new set of tires. Less than 100 miles on them. During a left turn at roughly 15-25 mph the entire tire separated from the rim on the rear passenger wheel. The tire is in a secure location and can be inspected if needed. This led to an accident. There were no warning indicators such as low pressure indicators. The low pressure indicator came on after the tire came off the rim. The car went from make a 90 degree turn to making a 45 degree turn and cause my SUV to smash into a house. Tire size was 285/45/R22.

The contact stated that the vehicle was at the dealer for a service appointment. The contact was informed that all four tires were worn. The contact was informed that all four tires needed to be replaced. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

I have purchased a set of Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra (P 235 / 55 R 19 105 W XL front, P 255 / 50 R 19 107 W XL back) in August 2022 for my 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S RWD EV. After only 12,000 miles, tire dry rot started showing up in June 2023 on all tires. The tires have a 80,000 miles warranty so I don't know how come they started to dry rot only after 12,000 miles. If the tires fail while driving, this can be a severe safety hazard as the vehicle may lose control shall the tires fail.
