DUNLOP GRAND TREK TIRES- West Palm Beach, FL
On 10/7/25, the passenger side front tire malfunctioned - I currently have the tire. On 9/7/25, the drivers side rear tire malfunctioned - I no longer have that tire but I have included the receipt for the new tire I had to purchase. On 9/7/25, I was driving alone on the Florida Turnpike at night and in the rain, when the rear drivers side tire blew and was completely destroyed with multiple holes in the sidewall. Fortunately I was able to maintain control of the car, but I was stuck on the side of the highway until a Florida Road Ranger came to assist. The problem was reproduced on the morning of 10/7 when I found my passenger side front tire flat with a split sidewall. I am scheduled to take the car to the Lexus service department on 10/8/25 for inspection. The front passenger tire does not feel like rubber, it can be described as a mix of cardboard and plastic. On the evening of 9/7/25, when the rear drivers side tire blew, there was little warning, the low tire pressure warning light came on and I felt the flat tire in less than one minute. I purchased this new 2025 Lexus GX 550 in March of 2025 from JM Lexus in South Florida and these were the original tires. The car currently has 9,766 miles on it and used for commuting to work and running errands. [XXX] PT5A, 265 /55 R 20. TPS monitoring systems were reading or installed on the wrong tires. Asked if possibly the sensors need to be recalibrated after rotations, dealership said no the vehicle is suppose to relearn the new location. One morning my front tire said it was low, added air and rechecked it with a handheld PSI reader. Also visually checked it for nails or defects. Tire appeared fine so I got in to drive home. It was the rear tire that blew on the interstate driving home not the front left which was the one that was telling me was low. I did look at the rear while getting in the vehicle. It didn’t appear low visually but it was dark at the time and was reading just fine through the Toyota’s PSI monitoring system. Also didn’t drive any different. Typically you can tell if your tire is low or flat by how it drives. You usually can hear a thumping too. Thought maybe the cold weather was just telling me it’s low, cold weather causes tire air to contract dropping PSI but it will stabilize later. Thought maybe it was that or possibly the sensor was bad in it. All I knew was I checked it and made sure the PSI was at the factories recommended amount. Turns out all 4 tires were reading on the wrong location. Which I didn’t know at the time. Caused my vehicle to hit the side of the bridge from fish tailing. Which resulted in damage to the rear arm that needed to be replaced and significant suspension damage. Totaling 3K+ in repairs. Toyota opened an investigation but has been dragging their feet on the issue. And don’t want to take responsibility nor tell me why my tires are reading in the wrong locations. They stated that I should have checked all the tires PSI by hand because back in the day they didn’t have monitoring systems that told you the exact tire that was low. But if you are going to integrate a monitoring system, it should work properly. If it doesn’t then it shouldn’t be used with the public at all. How is the customer suppose to know that your system is unreliable.

DUNLOP GRAND TREK PT20 TIRES- LOUISBURG, KS
P225 / 60 R18. Passenger rear tire blew out driving at highway speeds (75-80 mph). The car swerved back and forth across lanes almost into the median and then to the shoulder a couple of times and almost flipped before I was able to pull to the shoulder and stop. Another driver stopped to make sure I was ok and said he also thought I was going to flip more than once. I did not notice any warning lights prior to the incident. There were a couple of times prior to the failure that it felt like the car was swerving slightly - I thought possibly due to wind or different texture of the road surface, then the tire blew. The entire inside wall of the tire is separated from the tread. The dealer has not inspected the tire yet. I am ordering a set of new tires - I don't trust these and never want to go through that again.

DUNLOP GRAND TREK TIRES- KANSAS CITY, MO
ON JULY 7, 2012, I WAS DRIVING MY 1996 TOYOTA 4-RUNNER WHEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE FAILED. THE FOUR TIRES WERE DUNLOP GRAND TREK AT21 P265170R16 (111S M+S 014814), PURCHASED NEW AND INSTALLED IN JUNE 2007. I DRIVE LESS THAN 8,000 MILES PER YEAR ON THIS VEHICLE. THE MILEAGE ON THE FAILED TIRE WAS ONLY 25,843 MILES. IT WAS PROPERLY INFLATED. I DID NOT STRIKE ANY OBJECT ON THE FREEWAY. THE SUV WAS IN EXCELLENT RUNNING ORDER AND WELL MAINTAINED. AT THE TIME OF THE TIRE FAILURE, I WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE I-80 IN IOWA ON MY WAY FROM KANSAS CITY TO CHICAGO. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT MILEPOST 287.5, WEST OF DAVENPORT, IOWA. I TRIED TO CONTROL THE SUV, BUT I STRUCK THE MEDIAN MADE OF STEEL POSTS AND ANTI-CROSSOVER CABLES, FIRST SUSTAINING DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER?S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THEN, THE SUV HIT A POTHOLE IN THE MEDIAN AND SPUN 180 DEGREES STRIKING THE POST AND CABLE BARRIER MEDIAN AGAIN WITH THE OTHER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH BENT THE FRAME AND CAUSE MAJOR DAMAGE TO ALL BODY PANELS ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. I CAME TO REST ALONG THE MEDIAN FACING BACKWARDS, IN THE DIRECTION OF THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. LUCKILY, I DID NOT HIT ANY OTHER VEHICLE, AND MY PASSENGER SUSTAINED ONLY A VERY SORE KNEE THAT BUMPED AGAINST THE DASHBOARD. THE IOWA STATE PATROL ARRIVED AND HANDLED THE SITUATION (REPORT AND PHOTOS AVAILABLE). THE SUV WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE WHERE BOTH REAR TIRES WERE REPLACED AND THE BODY METAL WAS PULLED OUT. -- THE MECHANIC AT THE STORE SAID IT APPEARED THAT THE BAD TIRE MAY HAVE DELAMINATED BEFORE COMPLETELY FAILING, AND FROM THE VERY GOOD CONDITION OF THE OTHER 3 TIRES, IT WAS PROBABLY DEFECTIVE. -- THE SUV WAS DRIVABLE THE NEXT DAY DESPITE THE EXTENSIVE BODY DAMAGE TO NEARLY ALL BODY PANELS. THE BODY WORK WAS ESTIMATED AT $7,026 AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I REPORTED THE TIRE FAILURE AND ACCIDENT TO DUNLOP/GOODYEAR, WHICH SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING AT ALL BECAUSE I DID NOT KEEP THE FAILED TIRE. *TR

RE: GOODYEAR DUNLOP GRAND TREK TG35 P265/70R16 TIRE. ON AUGUST 19, 2011, I WAS DRIVING ON I-10 IN FL AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES PER HOUR. THE CAR SUDDENLY GOT VERY BUMPY AND IN A MATTER OF SECONDS, THE REAR RIGHT TIRE EXPLODED ON MY TOYOTA 4RUNNER. I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BUT MANAGED TO FINALLY PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. AFTER EXAMINING THE DAMAGES TO MY VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE TREAD ON THE RIGHT REAR TIRE COMPLETELY SEPARATED ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TIRE. LUCKILY, THE CAR DID NOT FLIP OR COLLIDE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. I SUSTAINED PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL INJURIES AND OVER $2000 WORTH OF DAMAGES TO MY CAR AS A RESULT OF THE BLOWOUT. MY CAR ONLY HAS 36K MILES ON IT AND IS ALWAYS KEPT IN THE GARAGE. THE TREAD ON ALL 4 TIRES IS PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW AS IT IS DRIVEN SELDOMLY, WITH REGULAR TIRE ROTATION/BALANCE/MAINTENANCE. THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY REASON FOR A TIRE WITH THIS LITTLE WEAR AND TEAR TO EXPLODE THE WAY IT DID. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH AND REALIZE THAT THIS COULD HAVE HAD A FAR WORSE OUTCOME, AND THAT THE TIRES ARE INDEED DEFECTIVE. IN ADDITION, MY INSURANCE COMPANY WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSES OF THE TIRES. NOW I AM FORCED TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES OUT OF POCKET FOR FEAR OF THE SAME SCENARIO AND NOT AS LUCKY OF AN OUTCOME IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. IN MY RESEARCH, I ALSO SAW THAT NHTSA HAS OPENED AN INVESTIGATION INTO POSSIBLE TREAD SEPARATION PROBLEMS INVOLVING DUNLOP TIRES SOLD AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON 1995-1999 NISSAN PATHFINDER SUVS. NHTSA SAYS IT HAS RECEIVED SIX REPORTS OF INJURIES IN TWO ROLLOVER CRASHES THAT WERE BLAMED ON TREAD SEPARATIONS ON THE GRANDTREK TG35 TIRE. I FEEL THAT UNLESS I SUSTAINED LIFE-LONG INJURIES, PARALYSIS, OR DEATH WOULD THE TIRE MANUFACTURER COME FORWARD WITH ANY GOODWILL OR COMPENSATION. *TR
