FIRESTONE DESTINATION LE2 TIRES Complaints

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle experienced abnormal shaking and vibration. The vehicle was taken to the local service center who discovered that all four tires were out of round and had experienced tread separation. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 36,000.

Firestone Destination Le2 P245/75R16 On February 20, 2021 just 15 days after I purchased my brand new truck the rear passenger side tire dramatically exploded while I was driving in to my neighborhood. I was traveling at approximately 35 mph when out of nowhere a sound similar to a shotgun interrupted my driving and immediately forced me off the road in between two trees. I was narrowly missed by oncoming traffic and scared for my life. My side step of my brand new car was damaged as well as the rim and driver side wheel well where my car brushed the tree. I called Toyota and they said I didn't have tire coverage so I called my insurance company next. USAA sent a tow truck to pick up the vehicle and they brought it to Tire Choice. The associate said the tires were known for exploding and indicated that I needed to at least replace the damaged one and the driver side front for my own safety. The associate also said he didn't think these specific tires were even in circulation anymore. I went to Toyota and they said this was a manufacturers issue. No one was able to help me and I was forced to replace two brand new tires out of pocket. I was lucky I was in the neighborhood and not the interstate. There was absolutely no sign this was going to happen nor did I hit anything in the short time I had the car before the accident.

The contact stated that upon inspecting his daughter’s vehicle, he noticed that the tread all four tires was worn. The contact stated that he used a tire tread gauge identifier that confirmed that the front passenger’s and driver’s side tires had 6/32 tread, and the rear driver’s and passenger’s side tires had 7/32 tread remaining. The dealer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the normal tire replacement was at 40,000 miles, while the tire warranty was 60,000 miles. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to contact Firestone. The contact notified the manufacturer however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 18,800.

225 65 R17 bought the car on 03/31/23 and the dealership sold these tires on vehicle. All 4 dry rotted in sidewalls. Big O tires would not even touch them.

P245/65 R17, we purchased 4 tires 1 1/2 yrs ago. 3 of those 4 have had massive blow outs almost causing accidents. No nails, but big blow outs.

WE PURCHASED NEW TIRES FOR THE FRONT OF OUR 2013 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY ON 9/29/17 FROM TIRES PLUS IN STILLWATER, MN. ON 10/10/17, JUST 11 DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON A SMOOTH, CLEAR HIGHWAY, THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE BLEW UP, CAUSING A HORRIFIC CRASH. THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION, THE CAR VEERED OUT OF CONTROL, MY HUSBAND FOUGHT THE WHEEL AS IT SKIDDED ALONG THE GRAVEL VERGE. WE WERE ON 2 WHEELS, ABOUT TO FLIP, WHEN WE HIT A PAVED DRIVEWAY, WHICH SWUNG THE VAN AROUND FULL FORCE DOWN A DITCH INTO A PINE GROVE. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, WE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES (ALTHOUGH IT TURNS OUT THEY AREN'T SO MINOR AFTER ALL) THANKS TO SAFETY CONSTRUCTION IN THE CAR AND OUR SEAT BELTS. THE VAN WAS TOTALED. WITNESSES, THE SHERIFF, THE WRECKER DRIVERS (IT TOOK 2), AND (LATER) OUR MECHANIC AGREED THAT THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE HAD SEPARATED FROM THE RIM SUDDENLY, (HENCE THE EXPLOSION SOUND) AND WAS CLEARLY THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. WE WERE 200 MILES FROM HOME AND NEEDED A HOTEL, HOSPITAL VISITS, AND A NEW CAR. RESIDUAL INJURIES ARE MINOR BUT IMPAIR OUR DAILY LIVES: WRENCHED SHOULDERS, PERSISTENT BRUISING, PTSD, AND THE TIME AND COST OF BORROWING MONEY TO GET A REPLACEMENT CAR. ATTORNEYS AREN'T INTERESTED IN THE CASE BECAUSE OUR INJURIES AREN'T PROFITABLE ENOUGH FOR THEM, BUT THIS IS A SITUATION WHERE THE PRODUCT FAILED, AND OUR LIVES THREATENED. IF WE HADN'T HIT THAT DRIVEWAY, OR SEAT BELTS AND STRUCTURAL PROTECTIONS, WE'D HAVE ROLLED AND DIED. THE TIRE WAS CLEARLY THE CAUSE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE EQUIPPED WITH FIRESTONE DESTINATION LE2 TIRES (NA), SIZE: P255/60/R19 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, THE NOISE INCREASED AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE COMPLETELY SPLIT APART WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PURCHASED TWO NEW TIRES FOR THE REAR PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE IN AUGUST OF 2016. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WITH THE SPARE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. *TR
