GOODYEAR ENDURANCE TIRES Complaints

Tire size was ST 205 / 75 R 15. This tire experienced a significant belt separation failure that I fortunately noticed before departing our campsite. While doing a walk around inspection before departure, I noticed a severe tread deformity in the front passenger side tire on our camper. The tires were cold and the ambient air temperature was in the low 60's. Before removing the tire and wheel from the trailer, I checked the tire pressure on all 4 tires, and all were within 2 psi of the recommended 65 psi cold pressure, including the failing tire. I removed the wheel and tire assembly and deflated it for safety, and then took it to a local tires shop to replace the tire. They diagnosed it as belt separation and further stated that it would have likely failed with a blowout within a few miles if I hadn't caught it. The tire had an estimated 15,000 miles on it at the time, but had been professionally repaired for a screw puncture approximately 7,000 miles earlier.

The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle, and afterwards, the contact felt heavy vibrations coming from the steering wheel. After a visual inspection, the contact observed that the front passenger’s side tire casing had separated from the tread. The tires were taken to an independent mechanic, who failed to provide a diagnosis. The tire was replaced by Roadside Assistance. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was 362,000, and the tire failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact filed the complaint on behalf of a fleet driver. The contact owns a 2024 Peterbilt Conventional 579, equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Endurance LHS, Tire Size: 295/75/R22.5, DOT Number:1MC37C8BW3223. The contact stated that while the fleet driver was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal flapping sound coming from the tires. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was shaking and vibrating abnormally. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The driver inspected the vehicle and noticed that the front passenger's side tire was cracked, and the outer tire tread had detached. The TA Truck Stop Service was contacted, and the tire was replaced. The Goodyear dealer where the tires were purchased was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 276,000. The tire failure mileage was 40,004.

The contact owns a 2024 Peterbilt 579 equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Endurance, Tire Size: 295/75/R22.5, DOT Number: 1MC37C8BW3223. The contact stated that while driving approximately 64 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle vibrated abnormally. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and inspected. The contact became aware that the front driver’s side tire tread had detached from the tire and damaged the headlamp and a part of the front left bumper. A mobile mechanic arrived at the location and replaced the tire. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 292,755.

Tread of the tire delaminated, similar to what a recap would do. This happened at 43,476 miles +or- the first time. This incident occurred In Anton, Texas. My driver got stopped safely and the tire was still inflated. Moved the truck about a 100 yards to be in safer spot and the tire then went flat. Had tire replaced with Identical tire by Loves of Lubbock, TX. Had driver bring the bad tire in, as had never seen in 18 years in business a tire do this. I have tire in my possession. At 53, 456 miles, right at 10,000 miles the newly replaced tire, did the basic same thing. A 3" piece came out of the center of tire for the complete circumference of the tire. Driver got stopped safely. recovered the piece which was still in one piece. experiencing what we did before, I had him take pictures of the tire with it still inflated and had him check the air pressure with a gauge. Tire was at 130 lbs warm with our normal cold setting being 122-123. This incident occurred near Taft, CA so I learned of Tyack Tires and Had 2 new Michelins put on and had driver bring both tires off the front back along with the center piece. I have tire in my possession. My dealer sent tires and center piece to Goodyear for damage claims, as both times it destroyed the entire fender linings and headlight. Goodyear declined damages stating "Over Deflection", which is chronic underinflation, but that is not the case. I had request in writing for my tires to be returned along with the piece. They shipped tires back without the piece, I requested the piece again and received an email stating there was no piece. My dealer says it was sent to them that it was placed inside the tire that it came off of. I've been doing business with this dealer over 16 years, maybe closer to 18. I have pictures of the tires and piece and all damages. I had the same steer tires replaced on the twin to this truck, VIN ending in [XXX] , with new Michelins as well. First trip with trailer, 200 mile trip, stopped for gas and tire sidewall blowout sounding like a gunshot. Trailer not overloaded, cool day 60 degrees. So glad it did not happen while on the freeway as the tire blow out and lost all air would have been hard to control trailer. Goodyear Endurance Tire size ST205/7515d

The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the driver’s side front outer tire experienced a blowout due to side wall separation. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway and had the tire changed. The dealer was contacted and the tire was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate trailer failure mileage was 50,000 and the tire failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
