GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES Complaints

On March 14 2026 i was driving from [XXX] . To [XXX] to have my tires checked because i felt a strong vibration on my steering column and truck itself, it was getting worse so i took it to my mechanic who does my regular maintenance on truck. After inspecting tire ( [XXX] 55 R20) was called over and shown that my front passenger side tire had a flat spot, it looked deformed mechanic informed me that the tire had separated from radial. And i need to get another tire right away, since there was non in stock we did the next best thing we took the front passenger tire the affected tire put it in the back and put the rear good tire up front. The next day i was on my way to purchase the replacement tire when the tire blew out. I was on a heavily traffic road [XXX] . I managed to take control of truck doing about 40 mph at the time and drove it off the road to a safer spot to look at damage. Well the passenger rear tire witch was originally on the front that had the separated radial blew a chunk out of the inner sidewall. I put on the spare and went and replaced the tire with another goodyear new tire. On march 28 as i was coming home from [XXX] late at night the driver side rear tire blew as well again had to put on spare and next day took to local mechanics in [XXX] , and checked tire and again i was told that the tire separated from radial and that was the cause of blew out, they inspected all the tires at this point since this was the second tire from the same DOT set with less then 12000 miles that had separated. Well they found a third tire that had aldo separated and had a flat spot on driver side front tire, now there are 3 tires from the same set, coincidence, i dont think so i replaced the second and third tire. One the third day April 1, 2026 the passenger side front tire blew as well, now i have 4 tires that had radial separation with less then 12000 miles and less then a year old, in a mater of a month. I am reporting a potential safety defect involving Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT tires size LT275/65R20. I purchased a new 2025 GMC Sierra 3500HD in August 2025. By the time the vehicle reached approximately 1,800 miles, noticeable sidewall bulges appeared on both rear tires. As a 36-year automotive professional, I recognized the serious safety risk posed by this condition and replaced all four tires at my own expense with a different brand. Since then, I have seen multiple reports of similar sidewall failures on brand-new trucks, which suggests this may be a systemic issue. Based on my experience and these reports, I believe this defect may be known to both Goodyear and GM but has not been adequately addressed. I urge the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to investigate this matter to determine whether these tires pose a significant safety risk to the public. Traveling on I-10 doing approx 75 mph head a loud boom and saw sparks coming from the read drivers side of the truck. Truck was riding a bit low on that side. Pulled over and determined the tire had blown up. Currently doing the insurance claim and repair as there was substantial damage to the truck. No crash or involvement by other motorists. Did not hit anything.

Well this is 2 nd report , got truck in sept , 1 tire blew at 625 miles , did not waste time at dealer this time , came off the ranch got about 10 miles down road tire was losing air ,pulled over was leaking bad ,now remember this is a 1 ton dulley Tk with 6 , six tires , same set of Goodyear tires , feb 26, 4100 miles then , now ok after this I came home went to discount Tire bought 6 new tires have my 6 tires off new Tk in barn , I can't take the risk of killing somebody are myself with another blow out !!! 3 tires off new dealers again said these should not be on this truck

LT235/80R17, well was on ranch , which I told them I use on ranch so I was charged 995. Bucks extra for AT tires , At 625 miles it popped, well I took to dealer as usual they said my fault ? Well I left . New truck 100k an 2 tire dealers told me they are Juck !!!!

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Canyon equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Wrangler Territory, Tire Size: 265/65/R18, DOT number: 1M6C8JT1R. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the TPMS indicated a low tire pressure. The driver pulled over and noticed that the passenger’s side rear tire was low. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop, and it was determined that the tire damaged and the lock was missing. The mechanic located a pair of pliers between the rim and tire. The tire was replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The tire and vehicle failure mileages were unknown.

I had taken our GMC Sierra 2500 with LT275/R20 Goodyear Wrangler tires into Henderson Chevrolet for maintenance and to have the tires checked. The technician stated that the front tires were showing tread separation. I was shocked because the tires only had around 20,000 miles. The truck is not used for towing and is kept in the garage away from the sun. I asked the technician to double check the rear tires for separation and he stated they were fine. A couple of weeks later, I was driving to California and there was a loud bang on the rear driver side. The truck indicated the the tire was losing pressure. I pulled over to the side of the busy road as soon as possible. The entire tread was missing form the tire and when it came off it damaged the wheel well and the rear bumper and taillight.There was a lot of traffic on the highway and not much shoulder it was a pretty scary and unsafe situation I but got the tire changed with the spare. About an hour later the passenger side tire blew up, there was way more damage on this side including bent exhaust and damage to the fender. I had to get roadside assistance to change the tire so I changed both rear tires so i could have a spare.When I took the car back to Henderson Chevrolet they told me this is a common problem they have had 10 in the last 6 months. Boulder Autobody said they had seen 7 in the last 6 months. Henderson Chevrolet sent both tires to Goodyear to be examined and they conveniently lost one of them and stated that the tires were not defective. Thank goodness no one was hurt, this could have easily killed someone.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Wrangler Trail Runner A/T, Tire Size: LT275/65/R20, DOT Number: 1PJOTJB1B3221. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, there was an explosion, and the entire tread width of the front driver side tire delaminated and wrapped around the axle. The contact stated that the tire did not deflate, and the radial belts were visible. No warning light illuminated. The contact stated that two months later, with the second set of tires on the vehicle, the failure reoccurred with the driver’s side rear tire. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the two front tires were replaced. The contact stated that with the second set of four tires, the failure had occurred twice. The tires were the original equipment. The contact stated that the tires had a tread depth of 4/32. The contact attempted to notify the manufacturer, but the call was disconnected. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

LT275/65R20 is tire size. On 26 August 2025 the tread separated from the left front tire completely, but the tire did not go flat. Traveling in Texas near Christoval, TX at 75 mph on smooth roads. The vehicle had 26,000+ miles and tread depth was over 4/32nd. Front tires were replaced. On 21 October 2025 the tread separated from the left rear tire 90 percent of circumference and the tire ripped open. Vehicle had 27,600+ miles on it. Traveling near McLoud, OK on Hwy 102? at about 50 mph on smooth road. Rear two tires replaced on 23 October. These two tires are in my possession for inspection, tread depth was 4/32nd and 5/32nd. Claims have been submitted to insurance. Picture of 2nd incident attached. These two incidents indicate to me that these tires are defective and should be recalled. Failure has been verified by GMC dealer and Walmart. There were no warning lights either time.
