GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR-A TIRES Complaints

On March 14 2026 i was driving from [XXX] . To [XXX] to have my tires checked because i felt a strong vibration on my steering column and truck itself, it was getting worse so i took it to my mechanic who does my regular maintenance on truck. After inspecting tire ( [XXX] 55 R20) was called over and shown that my front passenger side tire had a flat spot, it looked deformed mechanic informed me that the tire had separated from radial. And i need to get another tire right away, since there was non in stock we did the next best thing we took the front passenger tire the affected tire put it in the back and put the rear good tire up front. The next day i was on my way to purchase the replacement tire when the tire blew out. I was on a heavily traffic road [XXX] . I managed to take control of truck doing about 40 mph at the time and drove it off the road to a safer spot to look at damage. Well the passenger rear tire witch was originally on the front that had the separated radial blew a chunk out of the inner sidewall. I put on the spare and went and replaced the tire with another goodyear new tire. On march 28 as i was coming home from [XXX] late at night the driver side rear tire blew as well again had to put on spare and next day took to local mechanics in [XXX] , and checked tire and again i was told that the tire separated from radial and that was the cause of blew out, they inspected all the tires at this point since this was the second tire from the same DOT set with less then 12000 miles that had separated. Well they found a third tire that had aldo separated and had a flat spot on driver side front tire, now there are 3 tires from the same set, coincidence, i dont think so i replaced the second and third tire. One the third day April 1, 2026 the passenger side front tire blew as well, now i have 4 tires that had radial separation with less then 12000 miles and less then a year old, in a mater of a month. Goodyear tires 275/65R18 used on an F150 are experiencing near tread separation on the passenger rear side and the beginning of tread rips/tears on drivers rear side in similar locations. Manufacture week and year 1819. These tires have gone through periodic rotation as well. Noticed a shimmy while driving and upon inspection saw the tear/ripe at the tread interface with the sidewall. Tires are nearing the end of life and close to being replaced anyway however given the potential defect potential and safety hazard I am reporting. I personally don’t feel this should be occurring even given the near end of life condition and what appears to be the start of dry rot. Pictures provide 3 photos of the torn passenger side and 3 photos of the rear drivers side showing the beginnings of rips on multiple locations.

Tire: P265 / 60 R 18 On June 25, 2023 at 1100 hrs, the left rear tire began shedding chunks and immediately had catastrophic tread separation. This caused a temporary loss of control narrowly missing collision with other vehicles. When the tread separated at least one large piece did not tear free and acted like a flail significantly damaging my vehicle (left read qtr panel and truck bed). This sudden tread separation was a significant safety risk to me and my passengers. Vehicle was inspected and tires rotated 1 week prior to the incident by a qualified mechanic. No warning lights were illuminated prior to the incident. Mechanics inspected the damage and tires and noted that the matching tire on the pax side shows signs of possible tread separation. Insurance Co was notified and assessment is scheduled.

The contact owns a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Wrangler Trail Runner, Tire Size: LT275/65/R20, DOT Number: PJ0TJB1V 2319. The contact stated that within a three-day period while hauling a camper on a road trip, all four tires experienced a failure. The contact indicated that the first failure occurred while driving approximately 60 MPH; the rear driver’s side tire experienced a blowout. During the failure, the driver’s side rear quarter panel was severely damaged. The contact stated that later on while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear passenger’s side tire experienced a similar blowout causing damage to the passenger’s side rear quarter panel. Additionally, on another occasion while driving approximately 50 MPH on the same road trip, the front passenger’s side tire experienced tread separation. While at the service center the mechanic discovered that the front driver’s side tire had also experienced partial tread separation. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,400.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra equipped with Goodyear, Tire Line: Wrangler SRA, Tire Size: 275/55/R30, DOT Number not available: The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the passenger’s side front tires experienced blowout. The contact was able to pull over safely and replace the tire. The failure reoccurred and the front driver side tire blowout causing the contact to sideswipe another vehicle and crashing into a building. The airbags deployed but no injury and a police report were filed. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Tires have 24,300 miles on them were factory installed upon purchase of vehicle in 2018. In April of 2022 while driving on freeway at 65 mph noticed a vibration in steering. Inspected tires when I reached destination and discovered the passenger side front tire had a bulge in the tread and was starting to separate. Replaced at a local tire shop and was told that they had seen numerous tire tread separations of this make and model tire. Goodyear Wrangler SR-A 265/60-20. Tire still had significant amount of tread remaining (Half Worn). In late May of 2022 had another tire tread separate from driver side rear of same vehicle.

P275 / 65 r 18 the tires have 20,000 miles on them and the front two are dry-rotted

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Titan equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Wrangler SR-A, Tire Size: P275/60/R20, DOT Number: M6YN EXER4518. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the rear driver's side tire experienced a blowout. The contact was able to control the vehicle and veered to the side of the road. The contact replaced the defective tire with the spare tire and continued to drive the vehicle. The tire was original equipment. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The tire was not inspected. The tire and vehicle failure mileage were approximately 24,060.

LT265 60 R20 Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tire experienced a tread separation while traveling at 68 MPH. This resulted in significant vibration in the steering. This tire was inspected at a tire shop and the tread separation was confirmed. The tire still had 7/32 of tread left at the time of the failure. There were no prior indications of the eminent failure of the tire. This was the first of two Goodyear Wrangler tire failures for tread separation within 300 mile of each other.
