GOODYEAR WRANGLER DURATRAC TIRES Complaints

A tire purchased new as part of a complete set failed on June 29, 2026, approximately 58 days after purchase. The vehicle was being driven on a smooth road surface under normal driving conditions when the tire suddenly failed. There was no known impact with a pothole, curb, road debris, or other road hazard before the failure, and there were no warning lights, messages, or noticeable symptoms indicating a problem with the tire before it failed. The sudden tire failure created a serious safety concern because it occurred while the vehicle was being driven and could have resulted in loss of vehicle control, a collision, or injury to the vehicle occupants or other motorists. Because the failure occurred while traveling out of state, the tire was taken to an independent tire service center for inspection. After inspecting the failed tire, the service center documented that the tire had separated internally and determined that the failure was due to a manufacturing defect. Written documentation of the inspection findings was provided. The failed tire was later taken to the selling Goodyear location for inspection. Goodyear disagreed with the independent inspection and claimed that the failure resulted from a pothole impact. No pothole or other road hazard was struck before the tire failure. The failed tire has been retained and remains available for inspection upon request. The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado equipped with Goodyear Tires. Tire Line: Wrangler Duratrac, Tire Size: LT265/65/R17. The contact stated that he noticed that while driving on wet pavement, both rear driver and passenger side tires would brake lose and spin upon acceleration from a complete stop without warning. The tires had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer nor the dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50.

I HAD A CATOSTROPHIC SIDEWALL FAILURE OF A GOODYEAR WRANGLER DURATRAC TIRE (MDW8 B11V 4110) THAT HAD ONLY 2140 MILES ON IT. THE TIRE FAILED AT 35 MPH BUT HAD TO BE DRIVEN ABOUT 100 FEET TO REMOVE IT SAFELY FROM THE ROADWAY. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE RESULT IF NEEDED. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANT.

3 YEARS AGO I BOUGHT A SET OF 4 GOODYEAR WARNGLER DURATRAC TIRES FOR MY SUZUKI VITARA. AFTER APROX 1,5 YEARS I GO TO TIRE SERVICE SHOP TO REPAIR AIR LOSS AROUND THE RIM. WITH TIRE UNMOUNTED WE FOUND INNER LAYER SEPARATION. I REPORTED THIS TO THE SELLER AND AFTER CHECKING WITH GOODYEAR REPRESANTIVE THEY CHANGED THE TIRE WITH NEW ONE. AFTER ANOTHER APROX 1,5 YEARS I HAVE TO GO TO TIRE SHOP FOR ANOTHER REPAIR AND FOUND ANOTHER TIRE WITH SPLIT LAYERS. WE CHECKED ALL OTHER TIRES MINUS WARRANTY REPLACED ONE AND THEY ALL ARE SPLIT FROM INSIDE. I REPORTED THIS TO THE SELLER AND GOODYEAR REPRESENTIVE BUT THEY DIDN'T OFFER ANY SOLUTION YET.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS SEPARATION OF TREAD DUE TO THE LENGTH OF TIME WAITING FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V529000 (STEERING) TO BE HONORED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE AND THE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000. THE VIN AND DOT NUMBER WERE NOT PROVIDED.
