GOODYEAR WRANGLER TRAILRUNNER AT TIRES Complaints

Goodyear Wranger At Trailrunner 275 65R20. I was heading home with my 14 year old daughter Sunday night. When I was merging on the on ramp to the highway and I felt a vibration. So I was in the process of slowing down and boom. My truck went broadside in the highway. I gathered it up and got all together. I don’t have a single dash light on or anything. The tire was still holding air. A matter of fact it still is. But when the tread came off it destroyed my bedside and bumper. My truck only has 32,473 miles on it. The tires are rated for 55,000. I just want something to happen to the manufacturer. If that would’ve happened to the right front it would’ve been bad. Or if it happened to a mom and kids. This is not good.

GOODYEAR WRANGLER LT275/65R20 LOAD E TREAD ON PASSENGER REAR TIRE PEELED OFF AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO VEHICLE AND THE TRAVEL TRAILER BEING TOWED.

I was travelling south bound on the highway at 70 mph when out of no where the left rear tire failed. The tread peeled back like an alligator skin and tore apart the side of my truck and caused me to fishtail all over the highway. I was able to avoid colliding with other vehicles on the road and miraculously made it to the shoulder of the highway. The tire is a Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT in a size LT275/65/R20. I still have the remaining parts of the tire. My vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty, but the GMC dealer turned me away and told me I had to deal with Goodyear directly. I reached out to Goodyear to file a claim for the tire failure and damages related to it. They have been ignoring me for over a week, so I have filed a claim with my insurance company to handle the damages. I'm currently waiting to get my truck into the shop for repairs. There were no indications of any issues with the tire. I had them rotated as recommended by the manufacturer and kept the tire pressure at the recommended levels through the dealer when my vehicle was serviced. The TPMS light came on as soon as the tire failed and lost pressure showing the vehicle tire pressure monitoring system was working properly when the tire failed.

Tire size LT275 65 R20. Driving on Interstate Sunday September 24, 2023 the driver's side back tire blew out causing damage to the rim and side panel of the truck and bumper. We were pulling a 35 foot fifth wheel. We were able to successfully pull over to shoulder but had to wait over an hour for help. The blow out did do some damage to the fifth wheel also. Felt very unsafe until Georgia Champs arrived behind our camper. Our truck had about 16,000 miles on it and the tires. Last October the passenger side rear went flat (12,000 miles on the tires) and were able to pull over before a blowout. There we were stuck for about 3 hours on an interstate and had to change the tire ourselves because couldn't get someone out and felt unsafe waiting any longer.Both tires were on rear of truck and the blowout left over $6000 damage according to the estimate not including damage to the RV.We had no warning alert on the truck and a Goodyear salesman said the tires were not defective. But, we did not run over any apparent road hazard. We felt unsafe and were lucky the blowout didn't cause us to lose control of the truck or RV. Seems hard to believe this can happen twice in less than a year with pretty new tires. We always inspect the tires and make sure the tires are properly inflated according to the truck specifications.

The outside tread separated without a drop in air pressure or without any warning, other than a wobble before the tire blew out. This occurred at 65 mph (posted speed limit) on a busy interstate. I was only able to avoid a wreck because I was traveling in the right lane and was able to immediately pull off the side of the road. The tire destroyed my inner wheel well and outer trim, causing over $1,400 damage. The tread flew into the left lane and was run over by every vehicle traveling in the left lane. I turned the tire in to the General Manager at the Williamsburg Goodyear Store, [XXX] . He gave me the number to call for Goodyear claims. I called the number twice during business hours 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm CST only to reach a voicemail that said they were on their lunch break. The voicemail did not give an option to leave a message. I reported this the next day via email to [XXX] . He said he would give Goodyear Claims my telephone number and email address and they would get back to me. I have not heard back from Goodyear. My insurance company has photos of the damage and paid $1,200 for the damage and I paid $200 for my co-pay to have my truck repaired. I have photos of the tire and damage that I can provide. Because I have zero faith in a tire that blew without warning with 41,800 miles on a 55,000 thread wear warranty, I purchased 4 new tires from another manufacturer. [XXX] said this tire was discontinued and wasn't available to replace the blown tire even if I wanted to replace it. Tire Size LT275/65R20 While towing a trailer was accelerating onto the freeway at approximately 45MPH the rear driver side tire exploded. The tread partially separated causing extensive damage to the vehicles wheel well, rear bumper and undercarriage. Tires was inflated to approximately 77PSI and tire temperatures were normal on the display cluster. Tire had 26,200 miles on it at the time of the incident.

LT275/65R20 Wrangler Trailrunner After my second tire having a bubble, I was riding and felt a wobble so I took it to a car care in el campo, instead of getting the tires rotated and balanced. I had yet ANOTHER TIRE with a bubble. Tried to order another tire but come to find out that Good year discontinued this style of tire. I know they did it because of how bad a tire they have. So I had to order a full set of four new tires. So now I have one tire with less than 8000 miles and another with less than 500 miles and I had to pay for four new tires. I think Goodyear should pay for their mistake not write it off and make another tire without any recourse.

LT275/65R20 Goodyear Trailrunner On vacation and started feeling a wobble from the back. Pulled over to see a bubble on the tread and part of wall. Luckily I caught it before it blew apart. Finally found a tire at a dealership in Castroville, tx. Didn’t know they were discontinuing the tires until I got home to have another tire with a bubble which will be on another complaint. On another note my first complaint which is complaint #11530224 I forgot to mention the tire was a wrangler Trailrunner.

LT275/65R20 July 2022 Driving home low tire signal came on, had bubble in tire, tires only had 22,000 miles. This is first of three complaints on these tires. Other two problems happened this past June. Two more tires with bubbles all tires under 30,000 miles.

I had just left RV Park in Kingman, AZ. I had cruise control set at 59MPH when My truck began a violent shacking and a lot of banging. I pulled over on the shoulder of I-40, Got out to find tread had come off of the tire and was now wedge between brake backing plate and leaf spring. It had not lost air. Just tread came off. When tow truck driver showed up several hours later, tire was still holding air. He jacked up the axle, but deflated tire before he would remove it from truck and put on my spare. I always check my tires when I leave rv parks or after stopping at rest stops. Saw nothing wrong with tire or air pressure that morning. I had only been driving 45 Minutes, outside temp was low 80's.
