MICHELIN LTX A/T 2 TIRES Complaints

Factory Ford 20” wheels with Factory Installed Michelin 275/65 R20 LTX A/T2 tires. Tires have just under 30,000 miles on them and still have more than 50% tread. Tread wear is even. Tires have been rotated. Truck has 73,000 miles but had different wheels and tires for first 43,000 miles. I stored these wheels and tires inside climate controlled building. When my aftermarket tires wore out, I put these back on. They had 10 miles on them when I took them off. I have had them on since April 2022. On Friday June 5th, 2026 I was traveling about 60 MPH and had a catastrophic blow-out of the passenger side rear tire. The tires blew completely apart and the wheel hit the ground and the back side of the wheel broke off, before I could get over to the side of the road the tire beat the bed and running board to pieces and even damaged the exhaust and bumper. The wheel was ruined. Thousands of dollars in damage. All the tires are in good condition, not dry rotted, no cracks, the truck has been indoors in a garage. They hold air. TMPS works and I check my pressure all the time. I had just set the air pressure early that morning before leaving. The tires are less than 10 years old which is the date for replacement. They have more than half their tread. No cracks. They hold pressure perfectly. They are worn evenly. No reason for the tire to have blown out other than a manufacturing defect. When I got stopped there was a huge hole in tire and no tread on it at all.

MICHELIN LTX A/T 2 Size P275 65 R20 I have a 2014 Ford F250 SRW that I bought new in July 2014. The truck has 30,000 miles on it and 20,000 of it was towing a 5th wheel. The truck sits inside next to the 5th wheel when its not being used. I had the original tires on which had about 50% of the tread left. The rear tires are always inflated to 80 PSI before towing. We had 2 blowouts on the rear tires. The first I started feeling a vibration and thought I had a tire going down. No TPMS warnings. I pulled off and when I got below 45 the vibration stopped. The tires were all up and the tire temps were within 10 degrees of each other. So we continued on when I got back on I-75 south above 50, I started feeling the vibration again. I got over to the middle lane thinking maybe it was a pavement issue. Thats when the passenger rear tire blew. That tire was split in the side wall on both sides like the seam let go. Didn't think much of it when within about 50 miles, just south of Lexington the driver side rear tire blew. I got a little vibration that I was thinking that feels just like before the other side blew, but not nearly as much warning (about enough time to let off the gas) Same side wall split, except this also took out part of the tread and damaged the truck. Tire Discounters that was able to get us the same Michelin tires that came on the truck. The manager and his senior tire tech thought the tires were defective and told me to take the old tire and report the DOT number.

I was driving about 65 mph and my truck started to vibrate and then the rear tire blew and I was able to pull over and inspect. Upon inspecting half of the tread had separated and came off and damaged my truck bed. This tire is available for inspection. I am very lucky to have been able to control the truck. Myb9 yr old son was in there and worst case scenario we could have hit other cars or rolled the truck and possibly injuries or death could have occurred. I've read other complaints of the samething happening to other drivers. Michelin had recall on tires similar to this one before for tread separation. Is it related somehow? The truck and tire has been inspected by insurance and auto body shop and NTB tire manager. The NTB manager couldn't say what caused it. They have never seen this kind of blowout before. And recommended to keep pursuing something. But Michelin won't do anything except to buy my actions with a 40% off of new tires. I wish somebody would investigate Michelin. There's so many reports out there on these tires separation and sidewall being blown out. It's going to be very unfortunate for somebody to lose their life because of these tires.

THE 1ST SET WAS PURCHASE WITH MY MILEAGE WAS 56340 ON 6-1-10 THEY WERE BFG LONG TRAIL TOUR BSW 28531 75 55 20 111T THEN ON 7-2-13 THE BFG LONG TRAIL TOUR WAS CRACKING AND I PURCHASED NEW TIRES, P275 55 20 111T MICHELIN LTX MS 2 22093, LIMITED 40 MONTH WARRANTY/ 70000 MILE WARRANTY. MY MILEAGE ON MY TRUCK WAS 97444. 2 MONTHS LATER I RECEIVED A LETTER FOR A RECALL ON THESE TIRES. ON 9-24-13 THEY PUT THE SAME P275 55 20 111T MICHELIN LTX MS 2 22093, LIMITED 40 MONTH WARRANTY/ 70000 MILE WARRANTY. THE DOT B99Y 56EX 2213 - 3 EACH AND THE 4 TIRE WAS DOT B99Y 56EX 2313. THESE TIRES ARE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE OTHER 2 SET OF TIRES I HAVE HAD ON MY TRUCK SINCE 6-1-10 AT MILEAGE OF 56340 AND NOW AT 142348. THE CURRANT TIRES ARE CRACKING ON SIDEWALKS AND BETWEEN TIRE TREAD. SEE ATTACHED PICTURES. ALL FOUR TIRES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO TIRE SHOPS HERE IN DAYTON OHIO. THEY BOTH TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I'VE CALLED MICHELIN CORPORATE OFFICES AND THE ARE OFFERING ME 60% OFF MY TIRES. I TOLD THEM IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND THIS WILL BE THE 4TH SET OF TIRES SINCE 6-1-2010 WITH ONLY 86000 MILES DRIVEN GIVING AN AVERAGE OF 21500 PER SET. IF I'M BUYING THE BEST TIRE FOR THE LONGEST WARRANTY I EXPECT THE TIRES WEARING OUT BEFORE THE CRACKING OF TIRES AND HAVE TO BUY A NEW SET. I SAW ONLINE THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SECOND SET LISTED ABOVE AND THAT'S WHY I HAD TO GET THE THIRD SET BUT THEY ARE DOING THE SAME THING. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE.
