TBC TIRES Complaints

Hi , My wife and I purchased a 2021 Venture Stratus in December 2020 from Stoltfus RV located at 1335 Wilmington PikeWest Chester, PA 19382. Since our purchase, we have traveled from our home in Wilmington, De. to Cave Creek, Az 3 times (and return),Wilmington, De. to Mebane, N.C. 2 times (and return) and Wilmington , De. to Cincinnati, Ohio once (and return). The total number of miles traveled is <10,000. Prior to each trip, I check over my vehicles which includes making sure the towing vehicle and Venture Stratus tires are inflated to the correct pressure (65 psi for Venture Stratus). The tires did not appear worn or distressed prior to any trip This year I left Cave Creek, Az for Wilmington De. in early May . On my trip home, just outside Rifle, Co., one of the front trailer tires on the driver side blew. The tire was changed to the original spare. About 15 miles down. the road in Glenwood Springs, Co., second tire blew (second original driver side rear). I purchased a new tire to replace the blown tire as well as a new wheel to serve as a second spare. So at this point, the trailer has 1 original tire, original spare and two new tires. The next day, just outside Vail, Co., a third tire blew (passenger side rear), I called a tow truck and the tow truck driver took me to a tire store Given 3 of the original 4 tires blew, I had no confidence in the remaining original tire. So, I purchased 2 new tires (replacing the one original passenger side that had not blown along with the blown tire)and put them on the RV. All original tires had been replaced. I have since also replaced the original spare.. First, I know the tires were made in China. Second, I have a picture of the blown tire attached for your inspection as well as a picture of the tire with a defective stem. I will file complaints for all 3 blown tires

The contact owns a 2021 Forest River Crusader equipped with 5 Trailer King tires, Tire Size: ST225/75R15, DOT Number: 1ADB4TRT1 4020. The contact stated that the front driver’s side tire had a slow leak. The tire was replaced with a spare tire. The contact stated that while driving on the spare tire there was a blowout. The contact stated that a mobile tire company replaced the tire. The tire technician inspected the front passenger, rear passenger, and rear driver side tires and advised that those tires were also damaged. In addition, showing signs of bulging, separation, and belt slipping. The contact had all the tires replaced. The tire manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer Forest River was also contacted and a case was opened. The approximate tire failure mileage was 1,000. The contact stated that the tire that had the leak exploded and caused damage to the fifth wheel. The contact was informed by the tire company that the tires actually should have been replaced at the time of purchase of the unit.

Trailer King tire was on a dual axle RV trailer (back left tire). Tire pressure of all 4 tires was monitored by Tire Minder product. Tire had correct pressure (65PSI) and no warning by monitoring device was given due to low pressure or impending failure. Tire had catastrophic failure with only beads and tread remaining. Failure destroyed Tire Minder device. Tire was sent to an inspector for Unicorn Tire Co(manufacturer). Inspection of tire was done at the residence of the inspector (this was not noted to me by manufacturer) and analysis said tire was over/under pressurized or overloaded. Absolutely false! I asked manufacturer for a list of the tests run on the tire, but was refused. I asked the manufacturer for the name of inspector, but was refused. I asked manufacturer for qualifications/certifications of inspector, but was refused. Tire was returned to me after I paid return shipping costs. The tire was being driven on interstate hwy at 65mph when failure happened. Passing motorists advised me of tire failure. The tire beads were still on the wheel rim and worn down from pavement contact. Tire failure could have caused damage to other motorists vehicles or safety and could have caused trailer to lose control. Manufacturer's inspector says "bluing" (excessive heat) indicated that the tire was over/under inflated or too heavily weighted. Advised manufacturer that bluing could have occurred due to tire remains being in contact with pavement at 65mph, but manufacturer said that was taken into account. Tire Minders monitor both temperature and pressure of tire.....no warning given for either prior to failure. Tire remains are still in my possession and available for inspection. Tire size is 205 75R 14D (trailer use only). Tire brand is Trailer King RST. DOT: 1AD B2TRT1 Manufacturer date code: 4319

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 used to haul a 2007 Tracker Marine NX18 boat trailer equipped with Trailer King Tires, Tire line: Value ST Radial, Tire Size: 215/75/R14, DOT Number: ADB6HFST1917. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the boat trailer's front passenger’s side tire had a blowout. There were lumps and bulges on various parts of the tire. The contact's son was able to pull over and replace the tire with a spare. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by email. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns an unknown box Trailer equipped with four TBC Corporation Tires, Tire Line: Towstar, Tire Size: ST225/75/R15. The contact stated that the tire experienced thread separation. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the tires needed to be replaced. The tires were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The tire failure mileage was unknown.

We purchased pair of Trailer King tires for our 5th wheel RV on June 15, 2020 that were mounted on the rear axle. On a camping trip in late April we noticed that one of the tires appeared to be tracking oddly when we were on the highway. We took it to the local tire shop where we had purchased the tires and they told us that the tread had separated and the tire had to be replaced. It is fortunate that we noticed this problem. We could have had a blowout resulting in damage to our vehicle and/or a serious accident.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY AND PLACED THE SPARE ONTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER, APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES LATER, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE ALSO EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH NEW TIRES. THE CONTACT CONTACTED CAMPERS INN RV OF MACON - BYRON (125 PEACHTREE PKWY, BYRON, GA 31008, (478) 956-6111) AND WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT REPAIRABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 221,000 ON THE VEHICLE AND 1,000 ON THE TIRES ON THE CAMPER. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE SIDE WALL OF THE TIRE. THE TIRE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,166.
