The MMI will spontaneously stop working in the middle of driving. The screen goes blank and then after a few seconds starts a reboot. This requires me to engage the touch screen manually. This will happen multiple times during a 20-30 minute drive. I first started noticing the problem a few months ago sporadically , but it is now happening consistently every time I drive. It is potentially a safety issue, as it is very distracting, shuts off navigation and obstacle detection systems. I have found that this is a common problem many people who have similar year and models of Audis are experiencing. I have not yet contacted the dealership, but it seems from reports it may be a software problem.

For the past 6 months, I have experiencing Audi MMI reboots on every single drive. It is rather dangerous as if I am navigating using car navigation and suddenly lost connection to the route. I had few instances when I was backing up to a driveway or garage, the backup camera shuts down during backing as MMI needs reboot. There are many others online having the same issue. This is a safety issue which Audi needs to address at their own expense.

The MMI (multi-media interface) frequently reboots during driving, resulting in a black screen and the inoperability of key systems such as the backup camera, rear obstacle detection, navigation, and cell phone tethering (for hands-free operation). These reboots require user input, including entering a PIN to log into the user account (if set up) and repeatedly tapping on the MMI, which can be highly distracting while driving. By its very nature, the reboot catches the driver by surprise and requires diverting attention from driving.Typically, this user input is provided while stationary, immediately after starting the vehicle. The issue emerged sometime in February or March 2025. The vehicle was last serviced in December 2024. I brought the vehicle to a dealership (Audi of Calabasas, California), who were unable to provide a fix for the problem. This issue constitutes a safety concern, as reboots can occur during reverse parking maneuvers, rendering the backup camera and obstacle detection sensors inoperable until the system reloads. Additionally, reboots completely disable the navigation screens and necessitate multiple user inputs to restore functionality, which can be hazardous while driving. Many states have enacted hands-free laws and requirements that mandate the use of dash-mounted systems to comply with these regulations. The reboots render such systems inoperative. Numerous reports on online user forums suggest that this issue is widespread and affects the same model year vehicles. For instance, see [XXX] . Several Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicate that available software updates should be applied to address infotainment-related issues. Relevant TSB numbers include: TSB 2067021, TSB 2076404, and TSB 2069112. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The Virtual Cockpit of the car (electronic screen right in front of the driver that displays speed, etc.) randomly turns off during driving, reboots, and displays an error message "Instrument Cluster Malfunction". A loud tone then chimes. This malfunction, while brief, is a safety issue due to the lack of speed information while driving.

Tire Brand: Continental Tire Line / Model: ProContact TX Tire Size: 225/40R18 What Happened: This is the second tire failure I’ve experienced on Continental ProContact TX tires (OEM on my 2020 Audi A3 S Line). At only 13,000 total miles, I’ve had two separate instances of sidewall bubbles on different tires. •The first occurred in 2022 at just under 7,000 miles and caused the vehicle to fail PA state inspection. Continental covered 50% of the replacement cost after I submitted a warranty claim. •The second bubble appeared in June 2025 on the front passenger tire. At that point, I replaced all four tires out of safety concerns and disposed of the Continentals. The vehicle is in excellent condition, lightly driven, and is not exposed to potholes, curbs, or harsh use. I work remotely, so mileage is extremely low. Both tire failures were from normal road use and developed without any impact or external damage. I contacted Continental again in June 2025 with a full explanation and referenced my prior case. They refused to offer any goodwill or further investigation, stating that I had already disposed of the tires. ? Why This Matters: Experiencing two identical sidewall failures within 13,000 miles on different tires under light driving conditions suggests a potential design or manufacturing defect. I’m reporting this in the interest of safety and awareness, as a sidewall failure at highway speed could be far more dangerous.

The MMI restarts constantly every day sometimes multiple times within minutes of each other. There is no correlation with other vehicle feature or functions that cause these restarts to happen and they are not in any specific pattern . When the MMI system reboots, the rearview camera and parking sensor display go dark, making parking and reversing unsafe, which directly impacts the functionality of the Parking Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Warning systems.

MMI keeps turning off, at this point it's every few minutes. Message states "The selected user has not been in the vehicle for an extended period ... ", something like that. But if you close out the message my info is still available to log into. I've tried a soft reboot by holding down the volume button, I've tried a factory reset and nothing works. It's getting dangerous because now it shuts off sometimes when I'm going in reverse and the camera is then unavailable. It shuts off when I'm utilizing it for directions via Android Auto. It's annoying and it's ridiculous that I have a luxury vehicle with this kind of issue. It's been going on for over 6 months now and only appears to be getting worse.

My Audi A4 MMI continuously reboots randomly, every 5-10 minutes. it started back in January and has now gotten to the point where it wont last a full song on the radio without rebooting. This is an issue for thousands of Audi owners as a simple google search provides all of the same issues. https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/48781/ https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-b9-platform-discussion-212/mib3-2020-mmi-rebooting-spontaneously-2020-a4-3082501/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Audi/comments/1j5and4/audi_a4_mmi_issues/

The mmi system reboots randomly throughout nearly every drive. This has happened when backing up causing a loss of access to backup cameras and sensors making me stop in the middle of the road.

Vehicle: 2015 Audi Q5 2.0T VIN: [XXX] At around 70,000 miles, my vehicle began consuming engine oil abnormally. I received a low-oil warning and had to add 1 quart every 1,000 miles. I first approached an authorized Audi dealer at 75,000 miles, who inspected the vehicle and stated this was “normal for older vehicles” and found no issues. However, the problem worsened rapidly. By 79,000 miles, I visited a second Audi dealer who acknowledged that this was a common problem in this engine type. They quoted me $16,000–$20,000 for a full engine replacement, stating they could not replace pistons alone. At 80,000 miles, my car now consumes 1 quart of oil every 200 miles. The oil warning light comes on frequently. I am forced to carry oil and top off multiple times per week. This is not normal wear for a luxury vehicle with regular maintenance. This condition creates multiple safety risks: •Sudden engine seizure or power loss if oil runs too low, especially while driving at highway speeds. •Loss of steering/brake assist due to oil pressure failure. •Increased fire risk from leaks or overheating. •Frequent roadside stops to add oil, risking exposure to traffic. •Distraction while driving due to monitoring oil levels. •Environmental hazard from oil spills. The engine remains available for inspection. The vehicle has only been inspected by Audi dealerships. Audi should be held accountable for a defect that compromises safety and reliability at relatively low mileage. I urge NHTSA to investigate and take appropriate action.
