Engine mounts are failing on Audi Q7's at high rates just out of warranty. This is resulting in costly repairs to owners at extremely low mileage. On mine the engine mounts were shot at 54k miles and results in clunking from the engine moving around and shifting issues in the transmission. Audi is aware of the issues and is choosing to ignore it.

Rear suspension spring failure on both sides at 54k miles. Happening across many Q7s. Can result in a serious accident due to loss of control especially if towing a trailer. Audi is aware of issue and has revisioned the spring parts. Consumers in states without annual inspections can be driving very dangerous vehicles due to the defective springs without knowing. Should be recalled.

My wife was involved in an accident with her Audi Q4 E-Tron on Monday, August 7, 2023 at approximately noon. She was driving into Boulder to pick up our granddaughter from an art camp in Table Mesa. On her way to Boulder, she noticed that the lane departure warning indicator light was not working which was odd because she had been using that since she purchased the car. She was also in Drive B (regenerative braking) mode. She drove into the parking area and was pulling into a parking spot very slowly. When she moved her foot off of the accelerator towards the brake, the car lunged forward at an incredible speed. She pushed on the brake pedal with all her might, but it did not stop her from crashing into a pole, another car and the store front of Weaver’s Dive Shop. This resulted in damages that were determined to be a total loss by the insurance company. We have researched the web to determine if this situation has happened to others. We were not surprised to discover that Unintended Sudden Acceleration is a known issue. However, this occurs very rarely and happens when the car’s computer gets confused by the signals from the battery, accelerator and inverter. Dr. Ronald Best has been researching Unintended Sudden Acceleration for over 10 years and has published a number of articles which document his findings and how Unintended Sudden Acceleration can occur due to what he refers to as a design flaw. We have saved & printed out documents which address this issue. I am attaching the most relevant article by Dr. Ronald Best. State Farm, our insurance company compensated us for the total loss of our vehicle. We were not made whole because the car was 10 months old. The State Farm report is attached. We submitted a request to Audi National Customer Service to research the car to determine if there were any issues and to have them compensate us if there were issues. Attached is their response followed by our response followed by their final response.

Purchased in 12/22. Electrical System Malfunction was alerted on 11/7/2023. On 11/8/2023 car shut off, and would not start again. Battery is completely dead, and mechanic says it’s an Alternator issue. Part is on international back order for at least 2 months. Audi knows of this issue and is still selling these cars. Will not provide loaner, and has multiple vehicles sitting on lot waiting for part.

I was entering the interstate and accelerating to merge with the traffic. When I reached about 70 mph the car stalled and a message appeared, transmission faulty, no reverse, safe to continue to drive. The car was drivable at a low speed and a high rpm. After having it towed to an Audi dealership, I was informed that the transmission would need to be replaced. According to the dealership, the mechatronic unit was faulty due to an unknown short in the transmission.

ON OCTOBER 15 2023 AT AROUND 5.30 PM ME AND MY WIFE ARE COMING BACK FROM MY DAUGHTER"S HOUSE IN BASKING RIDGE NJ ,TO MY HOUSE IN WARREN NJ WHICH IS ONLY about 7 MILES. ITS LOCAL AREA WITH SPEED LIMIT AROUND 35 MILES/HR Z0NE .I WAS DRIVING ON MOUNT AIRY ROAD , SAW A RED LIGHT AT A DISTANCE, AND ALSO SAW A COUPLE OF CARS STOPPED AT LIGHT, AND SLOWLY APPLIED BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. TO MY SURPRISE THE VEHICLE DID NOT DECELERATE, INSTEAD ACCELERATED VERY FAST, AND AT THAT MOMENT I STEERED THE CAR TO THE LEFT,TO AVOID HITTING ANY CARS IN FRONT OF ME,WHICH CAUSED ME TO CRASH INTO THE SIDE BARRIER. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE AMBULANCES CAME, AND RUSHED ME AND MY WIFE WITH MULTIPLE INJURIES AND FRACTURES TO ICU MORRIST0WN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL. THE CAR HAS ONLY ABOUT 35,000 MILES. WE SLOWLY ARE RECOVERING WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY . THIS INCIDENT DEFINITELY CHANGED OUR LIVES, I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT VEHICLE"S UNINTENDED ACCELERATION CAUSED ME TO CRASH.

The contact owns a 2015 Audi Q5. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was discovered that oil had leaked into the engine coolant. Due to the failure, the oil cooler was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where an oil consumption test was performed. The test showed that the piston rings were defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Audi A4. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was notified of an electrical failure within the vehicle. The electrical gauge, the surge charger, and the shift sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer also determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 104,096.

The car presently has about 92,000 miles on it. Around 80,000 miles (back over the winter) the oil light started to come on indicating I'm down a quart or so. I would find myself putting in a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so. It has progressed. I understand the vehicle has a problem with the piston ring design such that the ring allows excess oil into the chamber and the ring itself might shatter. The problem, at best, prevents acceleration and deceleration...problematic on or off a highway. At worst, the ring shatters and engine stops. The 2012 - 2017 models and other models were involved in class action lawsuits. The 2015 escaped that litigation somehow. Though I'll be taking it to an Audi dealer for an oil consumption test as recommended. No one has yet to inspect the vehicle.

The contact owned a 2019 Audi E-Tron. The contact had pulled into a charging station and had plugged the vehicle in to charge the battery. The contact stated she heard a loud boom 20 minutes after having plugged the vehicle into the charging station. The contact saw white smoke issuing from the rear of the vehicle and then she saw flames issuing from the rear driver-side wheel. The contact stated that prior to the fire department's arrival a passerby and a store employee, from a store that she was parked in front of, extinguished the flames with chemical hand-held fire extinguishers. The contact stated the vehicle was towed to her insurance provider's impound lot for investigation. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
