Starter generator/alternator problem. I was driving and suddenly got electrical malfunction issue and slowly all electronics in the car stopped working. Got the car towed to Audi service center and the service representative told me it was starter generator issue and it’s widespread. Dropped the car on 11/15/22 and still waiting for my car to be repaired.

The contact owns a 2017 Audi S7. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who replaced the turbocharger; however, the failure recurred with the engine seizing. The vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V178000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Audi Q7. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bags needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Generator failure. Car has been at the dealership for 45 days. Waiting for a replacement at a cost of $4000??

Oct 15, 2022 lights began flashing. Electrical Malfunction came up. Said to pull over safely as soon as possible. Dealership said it is not safe to drive. Is still at the Audi dealership since they could finally get it in Nov 16, 2022. It has 17,248 miles on it. Am told it needs a new Alternator/Generator and there is no expected timeframe. It is now Jan 20, 2023 and I have been without a car.

The car gave an electrical error & said to stop vehicle immediately. I lost steering capabilities. I pulled over & had to wait hours for a tow. I am now being told the part is on back order with over 5000 cars waiting on an alternator. I’ve not even had the car a year. Paid well over $100k for it.

Two issues. My temperature housing unit is leaking coolant. This car has very low mileage and is barely driven so it is very strange that this part is already defective. Seems the original integrity of the part may not have been good. Second, My Audi pre sense comes on while the car is driving and brings the car to a screaming halt as is there is something in the cars path. The problem is there is nothing in the cars path when this feature kicks in . It’s quite dangerous as this has happened to me while driving on busy roads .

Starter Generator failure of the 48v Mild hybrid system. This issue is very common, and has a recall on the 2019+ audi a6 (however its because of a risk of electrical fire). Car sends errors to driver as many electrical components begin to fail and fault one by one, steering wheel dynamics shifted while in motion (as steering module failed), air suspension faults occurred. The car inevitably died during operation. Was stuck inside of vehicle, the internal door handles are powered by the 48v system, they are not mechanical latches. Car stalls out when the 48v battery fails. I have had this part replaced on my car, dealership says there are 8 just like it in the past 2 months. Very common issue for Audi's. As more of these find their way on the road, each car magnifies the risks to vehicle owners and other drivers as these issues are becoming more in more common in 3 year old Audi models.

Message appeared on display Jan 7 2023: "Electrical system: Malfunction! Please contact service" The trunk lid opened while I was driving, the a/c quit (I am in Key West!), the auto start/stop quit. I had heard of many other Audi owners whose car just quit, so I scooted home and parked. I had it towed to Coral Gables FL at my expense, and the dealer told me it was an alternator problem that needed to be replaced. None available in the US, could be months before it's repaired. Car is 2019 Audi A8 with 42,000 miles.

At approximately 3:15pm CST on Friday, January 13, 2023, several electrical system warnings appeared, and the vehicle stopped in the middle of the street. We were able to restart the vehicle twice, but only able to drive it about 10 feet to move it out of the middle of the street. We then had the vehicle towed to the dealership for repairs. The dealer has told us that the electrical generator failed and needs to be replaced. It should be available for inspection, if needed. No other party, such as police or insurance, has inspected the vehicle. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk, because the vehicle died in the middle of the street with little warning and could only be moved a short distance from there.
