When vehicle is energized and in Neutral "gear" the vehicle makes no sound. I understand that federal safety standards indicate that when in this status, the vehicle should generate a sound so pedestrians can hear it. The vehicle does NOT generate a Vehicle Sound malfunction alert when this occurs (and it should). This condition is reproducible all the time. The service manager at Audi Dallas witnessed this condition and verified that it also occurred on a similar vehicle he had on the lot. I called NHTSA several months ago to report this, but I cannot find a record of it online so am repeating the report. If you do have a record of it, this is a redundant report.

I have been trying to register my vehicle in California for several months, however, in order to do so, I need the car to pass SMOG. Initially I was told that the issue was related to an emissions sensor and that I had to drive the vehicle a few more miles to get the sensor to register properly. This turned out not to be the case. A short time later, the fuel gauge completely stopped working. I took it to an authorized Audi repair shop that told me the issue was related to a the "Fuel Tank Sending Unit". That part was replaced by the repair shop, however, the issue persisted. The authorized repair shop is now telling me that it the entire tank needs to be replaced in order to fix the issue.. I have searched and this seems to be a common issue among Audi vehicles; the sensor stops working and the gauge stops responding. Audi seems to know that this is an issue. Can this possibly be investigated.

Upon starting the vehicle while parked on 10/18/2025, dashboard displayed warning: "Turn off engine and check coolant level. See owner's manual." Visual inspection revealed coolant residue on mechanical coolant pump switching valve N649 on cylinder head bank 1, indicating water pump internal seal failure allowing coolant to leak into vacuum control system. Component failed: Water pump (EA839 3.0T engine) - vacuum-actuated design with internal seal failure. Component available for inspection. Safety risk: This documented design defect in EA839 engines can cause sudden drivetrain malfunction and loss of power while driving. While discovered parked in this instance, the same failure mode has caused P0299 codes (turbo under-boost) and "Drivetrain Malfunction" warnings in other vehicles, creating dangerous loss of power situations. Dealer confirmation: Not yet inspected by dealer. Pending diagnostic appointment. Warning symptoms: Dashboard coolant warning message was first indication of problem. No prior symptoms observed. Known defect: This is a widespread issue affecting 2018-2024 Audi models with EA839 2.9T/3.0T engines (S4, S5, RS5, SQ5, A6, A7, S6, S7, A8, Q7, Q8). Audi has issued Technical Service Bulletins MC-10245526-0001 and MC-10172894-0001 acknowledging coolant pump leak issues. No recall has been issued despite documented failures across multiple model years.

The contact owns a 2015 Audi A4. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the coolant warning light illuminated. The vehicle was turned off and restarted after 20 minutes, and the coolant warning light was no longer illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,177.

Smelt like something was burning and the smell was coming out of vents. Looked online and found that people have been having issues with the auxiliary heater for the HVAC to help the car warm up faster. I check mine and found that the connector was staring to melt. Seems like it could be a potential fire hazard if not caught soon enough.

As I was pulling into a parking spot, traveling at a low speed I naturally applied the brakes but the car accelerated instead jumping a concrete curb and hitting a wall. In that moment I realized I had no control of the vehicle. This sudden unintended acceleration was accompanied by a loss of braking. Pressing on the brakes harder did not stop or slow the car. Brake and accelerator failed. The vehicle is available for inspection. Thankfully the car hit a wall, and there was no injury to myself or others. The parking spot is positioned in front of a concrete wall. The problem has not been confirmed by the dealer as of yet. No warning lamps, message or other signs of malfunction were evident.

Engine consumed a quarter of oil every 300 miles. The EPC light and engine light illuminated. The vehicle went into limp mode. I had the vehicle towed to a certified mechanic.Vehicle was inspected by a certified mechanic and will need a new engine. Engine only has 85,000 miles and oil was changed every 5000 miles.

The contact owns a 2021 Audi Q7. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V201000 (Electrical System). The interface turned off, and the touchscreen was inoperable. The CP message was displayed on the instrument cluster. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who confirmed that the USB port was not working and was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact reached out to another local dealer, Audi Riverside (3210 Adams St, Riverside, CA 92504), but no additional assistance was provided. The manufacturer was contacted and offered a discount on the repair, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Audi A4. The contact stated that the vehicle was involved in a crash that had damaged the fuel tank and fuel line. The contact stated that the vehicle had been repaired. The contact had taken the vehicle on a trip, and while driving, the contact smelled gasoline in the cabin. The contact arrived at the destination, but the contact had a headache and felt nauseous and called the Fire Department. The contact was taken to the ER by ambulance. The contact was advised that he had suffered carbon monoxide poisoning. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the charcoal air filter behind the driver's seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact picked the vehicle up and smelled the gasoline odor in the cabin. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer and was informed that there was no failure found and that it was normal, and to purchase an air freshener. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

My 2019 Audi E-tron has experienced two major issues during my ownership. At around 87k miles, I was driving into a parking lot and suddenly a “electrical malfunction” warning light appeared on my dashboard followed my many warning lights including 4wd, brake system, and battery. The vehicle was not moving properly and I had to slowly move it into a parking lot and had it towed to the dealership. The issue was that the front motor is toasted caused by coolant leaking into the motor. The second issue occurred around 109k miles. My vehicle couldn’t start in a parking lot and the same “Electrical Malfunction” warning light went on. The vehicle was towed to Audi dealership and the diagnosis was a failing SX6 battery control module, which costed me over $8000 to repair. Those two issues both make the vehicle unmovable and could be catastrophic if they occur at high speed. There are numerous complaints from Reddit and E-tron forum regarding the same two issues. Both issues involved moisture getting into critical electrical components and could put the safety of passengers and other vehicles on the road in danger. The Audi USA has extended the warranty for the motor issue but hasn’t done anything regarding the SX6 modules. The vehicle’s electrical motors and HV battery should be closely inspected since those issues are prevalent and could be related to serious design flaws from factory. Audi USA hasn’t addressed those issues properly and it didn’t have a proper fix for its self discharging battery as well, which puts this vehicle unsafe to operate on the road.
