    - Clemson, SC

I am reporting a sudden, complete failure of the vehicle braking system. I was operating a black 2026 Buick Enclave (an Enterprise rental car which my husband, [XXX], rented from the Tucson International Airport fleet, Vehicle Fleet #XXX) with my two children in the backseat. We were traveling at the posted speed limit of 45 mph in the fast lane on [XXX], heading toward Costco. Without warning, the braking system completely malfunctioned. Half a dozen red warning lights illuminated and alarmed on the dashboard, including the primary "BRAKE" indicator. When I pressed the brake pedal, it completely stopped working and went dead. The electronic parking brake failed to engage as well. Fortunately, the vehicle immediately ahead of me cleared a green light at the intersection, allowing me to coast through before the light turned red. I safely steered across the slow lane onto the shoulder and pressed "Park," but the vehicle continued to roll. The vehicle only came to a complete stop when I turned the engine ignition completely off. This vehicle has an Iowa license plate (PYR149) and failed at around 28,128 miles. This matches the exact profile of the ongoing master brake cylinder cartridge seal failures documented in active federal litigation against General Motors (such as XXX v. General Motors LLC). This defect poses an immediate public safety risk across GM's 2025-2026 shared-platform vehicles (Enclave, Traverse, Acadia, Colorado, Canyon) and needs to be formally investigated for a 2026 fleet safety recall. I have contacted GM Corporate (Case Number XXX) and William Withington at Enterprise Corporate regarding this incident. On XXX, at approximately 1:00 p.m., my 2019 Buick Encore unexpectedly caught fire while I was operating it in [XXX]. Prior to the fire, I experienced abnormal symptoms, including the vehicle failing to restart, a hissing sound, smoke coming from the engine compartment, and then visible flames. The smoke changed from black to white and then green before the fire intensified. I safely exited the vehicle before the fire spread. The exact component that failed is unknown. Based on my observations, the fire appeared to originate from the engine compartment or underneath the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was declared a total loss. This incident placed my safety at serious risk because the fire occurred without warning while I was using the vehicle. Had I not exited when I did, the outcome could have been much worse. The incident also created a hazard to nearby motorists and anyone in the surrounding area. The problem has not been reproduced because the vehicle was destroyed by the fire. The vehicle was inspected by General Motors after the incident as part of a product allegation investigation. General Motors later informed me that it found “no merit” to my product allegation but refused to disclose the basis for its conclusion, stating that its investigation materials are confidential and proprietary. As a result, I still have not been provided with an explanation for what caused my vehicle to catch fire. I am submitting this complaint because I believe an unexpected vehicle fire is a significant safety concern that should be documented and evaluated. Driving home from work and I seen the "service brake assist" light popped on. I did not know what that meant, until I tried to slow down around a curve. The brake pedal was extremely firm and mad stopping in time almost impossible. I made it home and looked on internet for answers. I checked the sensors, brake fluid and checked again and no help. I noticed a puddle of oil under the car and checked the lipstick which showed i was very low on oil. The next day I had to tow the car 45 to 50 miles to dealership. The dealership had car for 3 days and told us it was the brake vacuum pump that failed. The vehicle was not under warranty and we paid over $800 to have it repaired. We live off a busy road and it was very hazardous driving it home.

6/4/26 Took to dealer and stated that the check engine light was on and car was running sluggish. Had stopped at Autozone and their scan showed the code P0102. The dealer charged me 259.00 to do a diagnostic showing the same thing. 6/26/26 Back to the dealer with the same problem and now they stated they replaced the Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger and Install Vacuum Tank Kit. I had the vehicle back for few days and while I was driving, the lights came back on and the car went from 58 to 23 mph within seconds. I would have gotten hit if I was on a major interstate. 6/30/26 Had to have the vehicle towed in because at this point it would not start at all. They stated that the code for mass air flow and lean condition. Replaced mass air flow sencor. On the second invoice along with telling them before, I had also told them about the car when I would try to put in park to shut off, it would ding and light would say..shift to park. I have to turn it back on and mess with the shifter to get to shut off. Stated it would cost me 800.00 which I cannot pay at this time. Another issue that I have had since I bought the vehicle is that my phone has to be deleted and added every time I start the car in order for it to work for maps or phone calls.

The contact owns a 2013 Buick LaCrosse. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced starting failures and was taken to Piedmont Tire & Auto, where the battery was replaced. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound, and felt like the vehicle had struck a bump, and the steering locked up. To the Vehicle Safety Complaint Division: I am filing a safety complaint regarding brake service performed on a 2025 Buick Envista (VIN: [XXX]) by Suburban Buick GMC of Troy, 1850 W Maple Rd, Troy, MI 48084, an authorized GM dealership. Safety Issue: The vehicle was brought in on XXX with brake pulsation at 20,689 miles. Suburban performed rotor resurfacing on all four rotors and certified the repair as complete and verified on XXX. On XXX — 13 days after Suburban certified the repair — Moran Buick GMC of Sterling Heights found the rear rotors causing the identical brake pulsation symptom. [XXX]'s service advisor determined the rear rotor was rubbing against another component and stated in his professional opinion that Suburban's prior service caused the condition. The corrective repair was processed as a GM warranty claim. Safety Concern: A certified brake repair on a 21,342-mile vehicle failed within days of service. The failure involved the braking system — a safety-critical component. The original service manager dismissed the customer's safety concern by stating failure would depend on "how you drive." Dealer: Suburban Buick GMC of Troy, Registration Number XXX, operated by Lithia Motors, Inc. (NYSE: LAD) Supporting Documentation: Two authorized GM dealer repair orders documenting the failed repair and corrective service are available upon request. I respectfully request confirmation of receipt of this complaint and assignment of a case or reference number. I am available to provide any additional documentation or information required to support this complaint. The complete documentary record, including both repair orders, the independent inspection findings, and the complete correspondence record with Lithia Motors corporate, is attached.
