Car has a automatic back up braking system. The car will brake hard to stop vehicle if there is an object behind it. In this case, the car was braking when there was no object behind it. This happen continously while I was trying to back out of a parking space. I could only drive forward. Finally, after a few attempts to back out of the parking space, I was able to drive in reverse. After I was able to drive forward, I tested the the car drove to a location where there wasn't anything behind me. I put the car in reverse and it did it again automatically hard braked and stopped the vehicle. I waited then tried it again and I didn't have the problem anymore. I took the car to the Cadillac Dealer. I was told there have been others who have had this same issue. Furthermore, I was told they can't fix it. Perhaps the feature can be turned off I was told. I don't see where it can be turned off. The feature is a good safety feature if works when it should. Meaning, when there is truly an object behind the car. That's my complaint This was a scary episode.

When approaching a red light at 5-10mph, I engaged the brakes, but the brakes did not work and the automatic breaking didn't work either, leading me to rear end the car in front of me. There were no prior warnings lights or notices, and the breaks were working properly before and after the accident. The car was towed to the dealership for inspection, but they could not find anything wrong and have contacted GM for further inspection.

While driving at 50–60 MPH, the brakes were applied without application. There were unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The computer was reset. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but further assistance was not provided. The failure mileage was approximately 100.

I was driving the car on the turnpike and out of nowhere the rear collision system went offline and the automatic breaking was triggered while I was going 70 mph in rush hour. The brakes started to smoke and smell and the the warning of ‘breaks overheating. do not drive. call service’ happened. I proceeded to narrowly avoid many cars on the road by having to cross three lanes of traffic over to the shoulder and the car was fully smoking, I quickly turned it off I got out and stepped away. After some time when I felt safe returning to the vehicle I turned it back on and was still showing breaks were overheated message and then was forced to get the car towed and take an Uber home. The vehicle is only 2 months old with ~3300 miles on it. The vehicle is currently sitting at the closest dealership to the event and they are unable to work on it due to a lack of EV service provided there and they told me they are unable to have it moved to the dealership I purchased it at.

As I approached a stop sign and hit the brake the car did not stop. I pounded on the brake but there was no response at all; it just coasted forward. The car continued to move and hit the car in front of me stopped at the stop sign. That car, a Nissan Rogue, had no damage. I was barely moving but the plastic sheet in the front of the Lyriq was cracked.

There was “Brake System Failure” message on the EV’s digital display. It happened 3 times in less than a month. When it happened, I had to apply the break very hard. Otherwise, the car would not stop completely and would not hit the car in front. Top speed is limited 43 mph so I could not drive it on freeway.

Without warning and while driving this vehicle on expressway, I've received the following notifications several times: "Brake Failure" (car brakes on its own); "Service Stability and Auto Hold"; and "High Voltage" and Battery. Brakes, speed, steering, parking systems and camera do not work properly. Car's capacity to drive vehicle safely is reduced significantly - speed to drive car is immediately reduced and is limited without warning. Car shakes passengers violently (whiplash) when it believes there are people or objects in its path when there is nothing there and does not work properly when pedestrians are around the vehicle. During the incidents both my safety and other drivers safety are at risk - I am afraid to drive this vehicle although the dealership has indicated they have corrected the errors.Vehicle purchased 23 Oct - problems began around 2300 miles and have continued thru 4200 miles.

The automatic collision system braking is engaging when the vehicle is in reverse and while it is raining. This occurs multiple times while trying to back the vehicle up during rain. This is dangerous for the passengers since they are abruptly thrown backwards without warning. The vehicle must be placed in "park" and then "reverse" multiple times until the collision braking stops malfunctioning.

The vehicle initially had a windshield manufacturing defect according to Cadillac Service Center which allowed plenty of water to go inside the vehicle during heavy rain. After the vehicle was serviced weeks later I was driving and the digital dashboard when completely yellow and red. At the same time the automatic brakes activated and I almost got rear ended. They serviced the car again after being tow trucked and “couldn’t” determine the cause of the dashboard incident shown on the pictures.

There is a problem with the dashboard lighting. It is very dim and hard to read the dash to choose and view options and screen in general. I noticed this the day I picked up the new car. The dealer said there was nothing he could do. I contacted Cadillac and was told to go back to dealer and have him make a TAC call with GM for adjustment. They did this and said it met there specs. This is a very dangerous safety issue as when you are driving you spend to much time trying to see dashboard for adjustments and you can’t keep your eye on the road. I filed a complaint with Cadillac Customer Assistance, case # [XXX] and nothing is getting done about the problem. I’ve talked with several Lyric owners with the same problem and I see online a lot of customers complaining. I’m hoping you can get involved and get Cadillac to resolve this problem for myself and many other owners. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
