THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER DUE TO THEM HAVING POOR SERVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT LOCAL SHOP THAT SPECIALIZES IN THE SPYDER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BEREIMBURSED FROM THE MANUFACTURER BUT THEY ONLY OFFERED REIMBURMENT FOR THE COST OF THE PARTS NOT LABOR.

Gear shift paddle will not respond when manually down shifting. Sometimes, I have to pull hard on the lever 3 or 4 times to get it to down shift. Sometimes it simply won’t manually change gears. This is very dangerous, especially on corners, when you need to slow down quickly then accelerate again. I end up “coasting” around corners in too high a gear and have to brake hard to slow down enough to safely maneuver. There’s not enough torque in the high gear to accelerate out. I could easily lose control if I weren’t an experienced rider. It actually stalled out once. This is so dangerous! I took it to the local dealer, they confirmed the issue and opened a case with BRP who denied the claim. This is a KNOWN problem and they were repairing these under a service bulletin under warranty until July 31, 2021. I just purchased this bike from a private party in April 2022. The bike only had 6,274 miles on it when we bought it. Every day people are posting on Facebook Spyder pages about this issue that is unique to the 2018 Spyders. This needs to be a recall!
