2019 CHEVROLET COLORADO Complaints

The truck has a hard downshift and when stopping and starting again at a stop sign it will lunge forward sometimes.Also,when holding speed at 50-60 mph you can feel a slight shutter like the truck is not running correctly.The dealer flushed the transmission when I purchased the truck but the issue continued so I made an appointment with the service department on march 3,2023.They took the truck on a road test and did notice the hard downshift and noted that this is a normal characteristic of this transmission(this is not normal and is unsafe)and will not offer to repair it.It is now the end of July 2023 and the issue continues and no one seems to want to do anything about it.I am going to take it back again but I am probably going to get the same answer

5 FUEL SYSTEM CONCERN TECH(S):131 Customer States, There is a fuel leak present on the top of the tank where the filler neck goes to the tank. Please inspect and advise NEED TO LOWER FUEL TANK AND INSPECT IF FUEL PUMP IS LEAKING OR ONLY ITS SEAL. 131 LOWERED FUEL TANK AND REPLACED FUEL PUMP SEAL, VERIFIED NO LEAKS ALL OK AT THIS TIME I was fueling up with diesel and it started leaking on the ground

We purchased a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado December 2022. Beginning in January 2023 to current month July 2023 the vehicle has been at the dealership 4 times for the same occurrence: SERVICE STABILITRAK and ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED A warning “ding” sounds (the same noise as seatbelt, door ajar, etc) simultaneously with the messages “SERVICE STABILITRAK” and “ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED” The vehicle immediately is jerking or lurching, the engine no longer runs smoothly and is misfiring. The engine power reduced does not allow safe acceleration, and the vehicle is unstable (as it moves it feels like driving over a thousand speed bumps over and over), the engine misfiring is heard from the exhaust and the vehicle is visibly vibrating, on acceleration the maximum speed is 20 mph. All 4 times this has happened while driving the vehicle on highways in traffic. We are left unable to get out of the way of moving traffic, unable to accelerate, change lanes or make turns safely. Three of the four times we had the vehicle towed to the dealership. The last time the vehicle did this fortunately I was near our local dealership and drove it less than a mile so the service people could “witness” what I had been trying to explain what’s been happening with this vehicle. This is a very serious issue! My husband is 75 and very ill. I have to drive him 100+ miles for treatments on a regular basis. We cannot continue to be put in danger because of this vehicle default. We need this problem fixed not only for ourselves but for the safety of others, including unsuspecting drivers and innocent passengers, young, elderly, disabled, some simply misunderstanding our vehicles “failures to perform” in traffic on the roads. A trusted vehicle is very important. A stabile vehicle with sufficient engine power is a must if we are going to put it on the roads. “SERVICE STABILITRAK” and “ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED” is not new. General Motors needs to take action to correct this problem and educate dealers.

While driving on the highway, especially extended trips, the vehicles steering will get very stiff, extremely hard to turn off of center, you need to “jerk” the steering wheel in order to move it, then it will stick in that position also.

I recently purchased a certified 2019 Chevy Colorado z71 on June 26, 2023 from Healey Chevrolet in Poughkeepsie N.Y. while test driving the vehicle I brought to the attention of the sales person that there was a vibration in front left wheel at which time the dealer rotated tires and realigned the vehicle, shortly after picking the vehicle up while driving home the vibration started again and progressively got worse the more I drove as well as the steering becoming very stiff and took effort to turn wheel. I contacted dealer took vehicle back at which time the salesperson test drove it and agreed there was a problem the dealer then replaced the rack and realigned shortly after picking vehicle up while driving the problem started again and got worse the further I drove now vehicle has a mild vibration in front left when driving between 40-50 mph contacted dealer spoke to service manager who stated he wasnt aware of any vibration I explained it was coming back on Monday July 17, 2023 for paint touch up to please see whats going on, later same day took truck to go to store while driving the steering again became very tight as I was turning into parking lot power steering went out almost causing me to hit another car contacted dealer vehicle towed to dealer. was contacted by Ray from service who told me no codes were found and could not duplicate issue said tech drove it and found no vibration he asked for permission to drive home to check it I explained to him I have 2010 silverado 1500 with 200,000 miles that I plow with that steers better than this I also explained my brother owns exact truck same year every except his more miles and steers perfect, I also mentioned that a friend that is a gm tech said theres tsbs on these trucks for this issue he stated he had no knowledge of such which is strange since I clearly see them online. I am afraid to drive it. something isnt right. I love truck otherwise just want it fixed.

Thermostat malfunction. Part was nearly impossible to locate. Was without transportation for 5 days. Replacing a thermostat on a 2019 Chevy Colorado is now a major repair. The total cost was in excess of $1100. The vehicle only has 34,800 miles on it.

* The touch screen went blank. After inspection by Dealer, it was discovered the radio failed causing this event to occur. * Without this component, the turn signals did not work properly, the seat belt warning did not sound, there was no access to rear camera, and rear cross traffic warnings and back-up camera did not work. In addition, access to On Star did not work for any emergency situations. * Dealer confirmed the radio caused this issue. * Only the Dealer inspected the vehicle. * There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the event occurring. It happened after starting the vehicle one morning (April 25, 2023). Additionally, the light on the touch screen remained on when the motor was turned off, causing drain of the battery and leaving me stranded. I had to call emergency services to help me. I had to purchase a new battery because of this along with the purchase of a new radio component as well as pay for re-programming of the system. Total cost of this incident was $1,400.71. It should also be noted that the vehicle only has 65,000 miles on it.

Key gets stuck in the ignition switch. Will NOT turn all the way to off. Radio keeps playing, lights stay on, key can NOT be removed. Engine does turn off.

The stabitrac system malfunctioned and went into low power mode while on the highway almost in an accident because of speed loss. The button to turn it off did nothing. Still unsure what caused this to malfunction but needs to be a way to override to maintain speed without power loss

Twice now I've had to have the powering steering replaced due to water penetration. After approx 25000 miles both times I've had failure. The power steering will momentarily stop causing you to apply pressure to the steering wheel causing an over steer condition. This also happens in slow turns to when you try to straighten the wheel, it's almost like a magnet keeps you from turning and when it releases, you over steer causing the vehicle to cross over the lane your traveling in. Several other people have had this same issue as I've researched it online. It's a very dangerous situation, and now a costly one if this keeps happening.
