2015 CHEVROLET COLORADO Complaints

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering function became inoperable. The contact was able to veer the vehicle to the shoulder prior to having the vehicle towed to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with power steering failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The power steering system stopped working while the vehicle was in motion. The issue is identical to the issue noted under campaign 21V213000, and effects a 2015 model year vehicle, however my VIN was not included in the recall

Lost power steering twice in while traveling 70mph on interstate highway. Specifically, I lost power steering and got lights for loss of "Stabilitrak." I had to pull over to turn off the truck, and power steering returned upon turning back on the vehicle. No loss of power steering fluid was noted. This incident repeated itself exactly the same several days later. Upon taking to the mechanic, they confirmed with the following: "We've confirmed an intermittent issue with the power steering, identified by the retrieval of the C0545 code for the steering torque sensor. Upon conducting a thorough data test, we observed erratic signals from the steering wheel torque sensor. We meticulously inspected all connections, finding no issues. Furthermore, our testing revealed that the torque sensor circuits are not shorted to power or ground, and there are no instances of resistance or opens. We recommend replacing and programming the electronic steering gear assembly, as the steering torque sensor is integrated into it." Final repairs and replacement of the steering gear assembly cost approximately $2500.00

Power steering went out, impossible to steer, no warning, able to force off road. H ad happened several times before at intervals would return after several minutes of car motor off. Saw at dealership originally but no answer found till yesterday when it happened again. Dealer" internal fault with steering gear".

Repeatedly losing power steering while driving. A recall for this problem has been issued but for some reason my vin falls outside of the recalled vehicles. This is dangerous and frustrating as the the failure exactly matches the recall description!

Had 3 instances of loss of power steering while driving, first time at 5-10 mph, 4/2/2024, then on way home 2 times speeds approx. 45 mph. When checked with a vehicle diagnostic machine it was learned that I had a Loss Of Power Steering Assist. I was then informed that there was a recall for the same problem in 2021, however the recall was VIN specific, and my VIN was not part of the recall, yet it is the same problem. Extreme safety hazard and I've been quoted a fix/repair will cost approx. $3,500.00. Local dealership advised me to contact GM, who then advised me to contact NHTSA. Frustrating that there was a recall, and the publication does not show VIN specificity, recall # N202325410-01. Is there any chance of getting my VIN included added to the recall VIN's that were experiencing same problem and fixed.Thank you

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving at 10-45 MPH, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The power steering assist warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was a loss of power steering due to fault codes in the transfer control module, power steering control module, and front view camera module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 106,266.

This issue has been fixed two times already and the issue is still occurring. Power steering quits working while driving anywhere. Service power steering warning light comes on. I shut off the engine and then restarted the engine and power steering was restored. Sometimes this worked. Now I have lost all power steering completely. Because the vehicle has been fixed prior, I have to pay to have the parts replaced again.

Power steering quit while driving on highway. Service power steering warning came on. Pulled off to shoulder and stopped. Shut off engine then looked under hood but couldn't find anything obvious. Restarted engine and steering restored. About 3 miles from home and lost steering again making vehicle very hard to control.

While driving at highway speeds the power steering suddenly stopped working. It was definitely a safety hazard as I had all I could do to get off the road!
