The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic who performed a diagnostic test that showed that either the catalytic converter or the O2 sensor might be defective. SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE AND MADE CAR PAYMENT ONE, I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE BEST VEHICLE FOR ME. THEN SHORTLY THERE AFTER CAME THE RECALLS/PROBLEMS (Catalytic Converter, Electrical System inside the vehicle, and last but not least, the Engine. I have to make sure I take the vehicle in 1000-1500 miles early than normal because of the oil is low and the vehicle. The vehicle starts to vibrate/shake in the steering wheel and making noise that I know that it is time for the Oil Change. This vehicle has been not at all what I thought it was. I have spoken to someone at GM, which was supposed to get back to me. Please call for more information. [XXX]. Really would like to resolve this. If this vehicle is not safe for My 3-year-old granddaughter that I have in the vehicle or myself that I have put my TRUST and money in. I would love to give you my vehicle and you can drive your love ones and yourself to Doctor and other places you need to go. My timing chain on my 2013 Equinox broke with no warning. There was no engine light to alert me, i never once had a service tech tell me i needed to change this chain or proactively deal with the problem. We had never had too much oil consumption, and now I am told my engine needs to be replaced for $9,000 or i need to buy a new car. The dealer says nothing can be done, this isnt covered under warranty, and my car is now worthless. This broke late at night in a parking lot, and i had to wait nearly an hour to be towed and get home, but this could have been much worse if I had been driving.

UNKNOWN. This particular make & model has an oil consumption recall & a recall on the piston rings due to the oil consumption. I have owned the vehicle since 2019 & have had issues with it every since it was purchased. It was taken to the dealership for idling & a rear knocking consistent noise & they could not find the issue & they were even aware that had recalls but could not find an issue or even offer to fix the recall issue. Now, the past year it has been consuming oil & it has completely stop operating & smokes like crazy. The check engine light is not even on & the car is feeling like it is overheating as well. Still, there are no warning or check engine lights on. The car is not giving any codes on a diagnostic meter. Last year the check engine light came on & all fluids were changed & air intake & valves were replaced as well. I have received both recall letters after purchase but was unsuccessful at getting anyone to locate or search for the recall issue. Our safety was compromised as the car just completely stopped going in traffic & could have caused someone else to hit it due to it stalling. I am not certain at what component has failed but the complete system is inoperable. UNKNOWN cause.

I was driving along and all of a sudden heard and felt a crunching underneath my car. I went directly home and upon shutting my vehicle off, it ran for a few seconds more before quitting. There was also fluid(gear oil) pouring out from underneath my car. No warning lamps or messages. I had the vehicle towed to a mechanic where it was confirmed that the fuel pump and transfer case were non operational.

I purchased a 2013 Chevy Equinox in January of 2020. The engine is now burning an excessive amount of oil. After taking to the dealership, I was told by the Chevy service advisor that this is a common problem for these vehicles. I've researched this issue online, and I am far from being the only vehicle owner that this is happening to. General Motors is well aware of this problem with these engines, however, the company has not recalled these engines to fix the problem. The fact that there are hundreds of thousands of these engines out on American roads belching out toxic smoke into the environment is a concern that the EPA should be aware of. This article explains very clearly the problem and the lack of an appropriate response by General Motors. https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2018/chevy-equinox-oil-consumption-lawsuit.shtml I believe that General Motors needs to do a full recall on these engines to replace the defective pistons that are allowing oil to leak into the combustion chamber and pollute the environment.

Burns oils. Sometimes oil pan is dry after recently getting an oil change and before next oil change is needed. Bad pistons.
