2025 CHEVROLET EQUINOX EV Complaints

The dashboard glare on the windshield is unsafe in this vehicle - unable to see pedestrians crossing the road, etc. It's a serious issue that GM needs to remedy.

Yesterday while approaching a hairpin exit, all of a sudden lights went on for the Stabilitrack, Collision alert and a number of other lights. Messages popped up saying braking assist was not available, cruise control was not available. Basically, the braking assist was gone and I had to press REALLY hard on the brake pedal to get any slowdown. All regen was gone and it was like driving a car without power brakes. I also got a message saying it would not go faster than 62mph. There was no indication of any issues prior to the Brake assist failure. This put me at extreme risk because it was essentially a power braking failure and it was extremely difficult to slow down. I had to really push hard on the brake pedal. I was able to drive my car back to the dealership where it is sitting now, waiting to be looked at in the morning of 3/24/25. I have attached a PDF of the OnStar diagnostic report, cryptic as usual, but it is a record of the codes that were thrown. Also seems like some modules were not communicating properly. I have also attached some photos of the error messages that were showing this morning.

There is a glare from the dashboard that makes it a safety concern when driving during daylight hours

The car phantom breaks randomly when backing up, but seems to happen more often when it rains or snows.

Windshield glare from ribbed dashboard reflection under sunlight is distracting and often obstructs visibility so severely that it's impossible to drive safely without wearing polarized sunglasses or placing a dark colored dash mat. Photos do not capture how saturated the reflection appears. In the provided photo it looks like I'm driving into an office building.

dashboard reflection on the windshield: When I am driving, the sun hit the dashboard and back up on the windshield , I see the dashboard on windshield make very hard to see on the road. The top of the dashboard has a mesh-like pattern that reflects sunlight onto the windshield. When the sun is out, this pattern becomes visible on the windshield, making it almost impossible to see the road ahead. Depending on the time of day, and the direction you are traveling, the glare is very very bad. It is so bad that it obstructed my vision, the majority of the time I couldn’t even see it. Very unsafe at times - especially with any hills (even very small ones) or driving into light.

Whenever the sun is out, the glare from the dash makes it impossible to see out of the windshield without mistaking the glare for a car/deer/other animal. Since I purchased the car in the middle of the winter where, here in Michigan, we don't get a whole lot of sunshine. Now after driving for a few days in sunshine, this glare is dangerous. This needs to be fixed before people get hurt.

After activating the turn signal fully, it will often spring past the neutral/off setting and straight into signaling the opposite direction. Occasionally this is with enough force that the signal will stay on, but it is usually only with force sufficient to tap the other signal and register only 2-3 blinks before stopping. This is a safety issue because it looks like erratic signaling behavior to those outside of the vehicle. When travelling on busy highways at speeds exceeding 60mph erratic signaling of this kind can confuse other drivers and lead to collisions. It can make other drivers think you are driving erratically (like changing lanes only to double back into the lane you came from) or to try to pass you rapidly just to escape a driver that is signaling strangely. This has been confirmed on many Equinox EVs, both '24 and '25 model years. This does not trigger any sort of errors, warnings, chimes or alerts. It simply excessively triggers the turn signals outside of when you would want them actuated. The fix is just to tweak the turn signal resistance to be more like other vehicles. This likely requires a recall to replace the part with a new part that does not yet exist.

Due to grid design of dash, there is an excessive glare on the front windshield while driving in day or night conditions. The glare makes it hard to see the road, oncoming traffic and pedestrians.

A significant issue related to the windshield glare. When sunlight reflects off the ribbed surface of the dashboard, it creates an intrusive and potentially hazardous glare during daytime driving, especially in Southern California.
