2021 CHEVROLET TAHOE Complaints

Car stopped while in motion, engine shutdown and could not be put into neutral to move vehicle out of traffic. Car had to be towed away. Only 37 k miles. This is the Second time this has happened in traffic posing a major safety hazard. Fuel control module was what shut down the car while driving the first time. Now it has failed again

We are apart of the safety recall with the potential brake and engine issues, we have contacted the dealership and they have NO remedy at the current time for our defective vehicle. We contacted GM to request a buy-back due to the safety issues with the vehicle, told we did not qualify BUT they have no remedy for our defective truck. We do not fell safe in the vehicle, the brakes are sticking and the engine is making weird noises. We are currently seeking legal representation because we are being forced to drive around our family of 5 in an unsafe vehicle with NO remedy or option to trade it in.

Additionally, the contact stated that there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from underneath the floorboard and coming from the engine compartment. The contact pulled over and stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that lifter #6 had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure, and the contact was offered monetary assistance. The contact was also referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving on two occasions at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not able to restart. The vehicle was towed a dealer where it was diagnosed that he fuel control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred approximately 10 months later. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,438.

My 2021 Tahoe High Country began to make unrecognizable sounds and the orange engine light started blinking. I immediately pulled over and turned the vehicle off. I was made aware that numerous 2021-2024 V8 6.2L engines are affected. I am waiting for my VIN to be selected in some sort of lottery format to qualify for a fix. I was told by a Chevy Service Technician that it can take 2 weeks or 2 years for GM to find a “remedy”. Unacceptable and very expensive to rent a vehicle for work until GM decides to “remedy” my situation. I truly hope they provide me with a solution soon.

Lifter failure and camshaft failure. Found metal in engine oil that has caused bearing failure and engine damage. While driving the Tahoe on [XXX] I experience a jolt on the front right side. Then warning messages regarding the Traction Control and to Service the ESC appeared. As I cleared those messages my engine light was blinking and several other dash lights were lit up. There was a knocking sound. I contacted the dealership (Coyle Chevrolet in Clarksville, IN) and they sent a tow truck to bring it in. They assumed it would be in the recall but it is not. I am without a vehicle and the engine is backordered. It's not right that GM is picking which engines they are going to include in the recall when they know there is a manufacturing issue. I was driving down I-635 (Dallas) at 70mph on Friday 7/25 when my Tahoe started shaking, knocking and had complete engine failure. I managed to regain control and slow to the service road. Thankfully the car next to me was paying attention & swerved to avoid me, but honked at me the entire time. The vehicle was towed and we are being told we need to replace the engine for $14,500. As I’ve researched, the 6.2L is recalled for this exact issue. The 5.3L has no current recall but I’m clearly experiencing the same engine failure and being told I’m responsible for it. I had no prior warnings & have regularly maintained this vehicle. Any chance others have complained about the 5.3L as well & our Tahoe’s should be included in this recall?

I’m reporting a transmission failure that occurred unexpectedly on my 2021 Chevy Tahoe/the diesel version has been recalled so I don’t know why all the other 2021 Tahoe have not been recalled for this issue . The vehicle began shifting roughly and slipping between gears, followed by a warning message and eventual inability to shift properly. I had it inspected by a family friend who owns a body shop , and I was told the transmission needs to be replaced at a cost of nearly $7,000. I am no longer under powertrain warranty, but this failure feels premature and unsafe for such a new vehicle. I’ve seen many other 2021 Tahoe owners report similar issues online including transmission failure, harsh shifting, valve body problems, and complete breakdowns . This seems like a pattern, and I believe it may warrant investigation. I’m asking NHTSA to investigate whether this is part of a broader transmission defect that poses a safety or reliability concern. Sudden shifting issues and inability to accelerate or reverse are dangerous for drivers and passengers. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

my fuel pump failed while driving on the highway with my whole family. i lost all power and my gas pedal lost all compression. I was barely able to pull off the road safely. no indicators flashed on my dash, no warning just a total loss of power and control. after pulling over, i let the truck sit for a second then tried to restart. it wouldn't. at that point, the yellow check engine indicator turned on. I logged into MyChevrolet and Onstar to see if any notifications were available to help diagnose, but nothing stood out. all systems appeared to be perfect at last check. I check temp and it was normal, oil level, normal. battery level, normal. Key battery, normal. i then started to google why my 2021 tahoe would die while driving and came across and widely known recall for 2021 GMC Full Size SUVs including Tahoes with faulty fuel pumps. my issue matched exactly to the description of what would occur. I did a quick search to see if i missed a recall notice for my truck, and didn't see anything. I was able to get my truck home and then to a dealership for a diagnostic. the only code that was discovered was for the fuel pump/fuel pump module. The dealership is now stating my vehicle doesn't qualify for a recall repair because my VIN doesn't appear on the affected vehicles list and that repairs will total $859.68 out of pocket. however, they also stated that early builds for this year may not have enough evidence. i ordered my truck, built to spec 6 months prior to receiving it. i would like my VIN added to the recall list. I have kept immaculate care of this truck and this is a known safety issue. this is my family moving rig. I don't want it to be unsafe.
